mumu, quality does not = reliability alone. The engines of Japanese cars are better in terms of quality, what about the interior, comfort, exterior, etc? All these give a car an overall score in terms of quality.

Take Range Rovers for example. Nice Build Quality. interior, exterior, and features. What about Engine and suspension quality? Engine I'd say they fall short. suspension, they are using a tech that gives comfort but it is not reliable (Air Suspension).

Overall Range Rover has more quality feel to their car... but reliability takes a hit.

Back in the day, I hated Honda because when I go to work I see a lot of them broken down on the road with their tires pulling out. Honda fixed that problem. Today, i prefer their cars to Toyota. since they have overall build quality compared to Toyota.

I am in Nigeria and I drive Benz. I am on my 2nd Benz now.... I have never had a serious problem with my Benz compare even to my Japanese car. In the past, Nigerians only complain about fuel efficiencies of old Benz models, not anymore. Only those patronizing the roadside Kazeems will have complaints about Benz or any other good car. I mean na only Kazeem by the roadside will 'accidently' put wrong fluid in the car in the 1st place.

The point is the car should be able to handle the mix of fluids. another of my friends accidentally put diesel in his Dodge van. all he had to do was flush out the diesel. i am sure if it was a Benz it would have destroyed the engine. The point is, as cars become sophisticated, they don't last longer and most of it is based on design.

Take a modern Corolla or Camry and compare it with the ones built in 2005. the same goes for Benz. it is only American cars that were bad in the past and have become better today.
