That said, my opinion is, Ukraine is in a good position and has been since Russia invaded, because Western Europe can not just stand by and do nothing, and haven't. For Democrats to cut Defense spending, they not only have to pass a new law eliminating the program (which is tough without a Filibuster proof Senate), it would also have to be signed into law by a President.
So the Democrats would have to control the House, the Senate and the White House. And they would have to control the Senate by 60 votes.
