pinky2016: hello house, I haven't seen this question being asked here. If someone isn't sure yet if she's pregnant or not on the day of her interview and she's asked if she's pregnant, what is the appropriate response to the question? Every pregnant person should have signs of it..... as at the time the signs show up a cheap and simple preg. of test of N1000 can solve the doubt. if the signs came up on the morning of your interview then you can assume you are not pregnant until proven otherwise. 2ndly, pregnancy does not stop you from visiting the US, people attend functions, events wedding and conferences in the US while pregnant and jejelly come back home to Naija to give birth. if you plan to do otherwise i believe there's a process for achieving that. NOTE: The vo's ask that question just so they or the CBP can use it against you when you violate the visa you are being issued. they know you can always lie about being pregnant or not. |

onandon: I just had to come on here to thank you all for the good job you are doing. So traveling to the US for vacation was one of my goals for the year, on the 29th of January I decided to give it a shot by applying for a B1/B2 visa. My interview was today, here's a transcript of my interview. VO: Good morning ME: Good morning VO: Please hold on I'm typing something ME: No problem(in yankee accent o ) VO: I'll have to take your finger prints. Could you please place your fingers on the machine ME: Left or right ? VO: Right first Me: *placing fingers* 4 fingers right ? VO: Yes VO: Your right VO: Now both thumbs (looks at his computer) VO: So why are you going to the US Me: ( serious face ) I'm going on a vacation VO: Where in the US are you going to ? Me: I'm going to Los Angeles California VO; ( was in the process of saying something ) Me: ( in my mind to the VO *shut up I'm still talking* ) Me; And I'll be going to **** (a bbal team stadium) in **** (another city in CA) (to watch a bball game btw the *** vs the ***. VO; Wow really ? ( he really showed interest) Me: Yes VO: Haven't they been the *** in the league this season ? ( smiling and being friendly ) Me: Yes (smiling) VO: But how can you get a ticket for such a game ? it's going to be very expensive ! Me: (Taa keep quiet there) I have the **** app on my phone to purchase tickets. The tickets are still available for $*** VO Starts typing very fast ) So what do you do for work ? Me: I own my own business, I'm into the production and sales of home and office **** and also into the sales and installation of *** VO: ( Kept typing ) So you make and sell your own *** ? Me: Yes I do VO: What of the *** ( the stuff I sell and install ) do you import or what ? Me: ( I don read nairaland, import ko import ni ) No, I buy LOCALLY at MUSHIN market ( I bet people must have looked at my direction cos of how I shouted the MUSHIN) VO; ( Still typing ) Ooh ok .. ( still in a friendly manner ) So you know I used to be into building in the past .. How much do you sell yours per square meter ? Me: Cost price or with profit ? VO: I mean with profit Me: **** naira VO; Without profit ? Me: **** naira At this point he was still typing, smiling and being friendly VO: Oooh that's good, it's cool Me: ( talk fast lemme know ) Vo: ( grabs slip still smiling) But seriously those tickets are going to be expensive or not available. Me: Yeah, the price keeps rising so the sooner I buy the better. Vo: True true true ... congratulations ..... ( at that moment I went partially deaf and kept nodding my head while he kept talking, I regained hearing when I stretched for my passport and he said ) no we have to issue your visa on your passport, you are to pick up your passport in ( went deaf again and kept nodding, passes slip) Me: Thanks ( and was about leaving) VO: (really smiling ) So which is your team ? Me: ( also smiling ) I mentioned the host bball team best player's name in a loud voice ) that's who I want to see !! VO: yeah yeah yeah .. Me: Bounced away with full swag in my native attire.
Sight and Sounds
Men, they denied people oo. There was this couple that said they were going for their honeymoon. Guess they said they got married last year, they both seem to have good jobs, well dressed and good appearance. The VO was questioning them laughing with them and typing, they were all laughing. I was like these ones don collect white slip, oh boy, in the midst of their laughter the VO just brought out blue slip, the husband just quickly put the blue slip in his file as the smile faded. It shook us and people around me started murmuring "these ppl are not giving today o" There was this woman and like her 5 or 6 year old daughter, when the VO said I'm sorry blah blah and gave the mom the blue slip her cute daughter started shouting "mommy what are we going to do now, mommy what are we going to do" people just started laughing, the mom didn't even answer her and they kept walking while she kept asking. So I read some people advised applicants on here not to mention the word "conference". A young boy did, he defended himself, he was given. There was this family of 4, dad, mom and two young boys maybe 6 and 8 year old. Immediately they approached the VO he greeted all of them, they smiled and surprisingly he started interviewing the kids like "hey, how are you" boy said fiiiiine VO then said " who's this man to you " the boy said "daddy" VO then pointed to their mom and asked kid again "that's your sister, right ?" Kid said noooooo that's my mommy. They all smiled and defended themselves, they got their visas. I got my motivation through this forum to be honest though a lot of people around my circle visit the US regularly. I went there, told the truth and was given. You just have to be confident and have an interaction with the VO, let he/she know you are not there for BS. Oooh I almost forgot, I'm a first time applicant, no travel history, passport even expires in few months and also single and searching . While they were dishing out blue slips I kept smiling and telling myself "dude, you are sharp, the VO can't intimidate you, you ain't broke, talk with confidence" Please o, the nobel lauretes here aka English professors, this is not an essay, it's a donation so please don't criticize my write up for lack of proper punctuation. Already bought my return ticket sharp today and paid for my hotel accommodation, this dollar thing is crazy will be touring for 3 weeks. Good luck to future applicants.
I'm going going going back back to Cali Cali .. Singing Yeaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so so happy for you dude! You nailed it, And talking of the conference thing.... i was the one who advised, i never said dont mention conference i only advised based on the fact that the conference thing has been abused by people who just use it to get visas, i said instead of using the word conference just say what it is you are going to attend. here's an example of transcripts of two colleagues of mine who went 2 weeks ago. Colleague 1 VO - why are you going to the US She - To attend a conference (Usually the next question should be) VO - What conference? but because their pressed for time all she got was (Sorry you dont qualify blah........._) Colleague 2 VO - why are you going to the US She - To attend the ------ summit on ------- and ------- organised by -------- (at this point the VO wanted to know more, he asked more and issued her the visa) Most people who are tutored and packaged by TOUT/AGENTS answer their questions like "Colleague 1" the point for the VO is that he/she really doesn't know what the stuff is about, it's just a way they could easily pick out agent packaged applicants or even those who are just using the conference rout for a visa. I'm sure if you listened to the guy you saw very well you'll realize he did not just give them the word conference he backed it immediately with information's that made it witty. |

GentleOhimai: @Justwise, I am really grateful for the good work you have been doing. I know there are threads regarding the USA visa thing but I opened this because I haven't really gotten the answer I need.
My fiancee and I will like to get a visit visa to USA to do some shopping for our upcoming wedding. We have a daughter already who is in primary school but she isn't going along. When I meet an agent, the price I was given was N700,000 for a week visit which includes hotel booking and visa but to me it's really looking on the very high side.
I got a website were we can do the application ourselves and the visa fee payable to GT Bank was N31,200 each.
Please sir, my question to you or anyone with good knowledge of this is that:
1. As we are not yet married and are planning to, will our wedding invitation card be helpful when we have successfully booked an interview?
2. Would the fact that we already have a daughter bearing my surname though not going with us give them enough reason to believe we intend to still return after our visit?
3. My dad was down with stroke and ever since then I have been the one taking care of his finances. He is a pensioner getting over N500,000 monthly and I haven't been working because I run his account and affairs for him and so he put me on a monthly pay of N200,000 just so I am always around him. Please will his statement of account be enough proof that I am capable of taking care of my trip with his consent being that I have to use his statement of account?
I really need your advice on the best possible way to go about this in order to successfully secure a visa to USA. I will also be glad if you can inform me of any other documents you feel will help me achieve this successfully.
Thank you. you could have just waited for the wedding to be over.... And do you really love your dad, only one day away from him could be disastrous. Think twice bro, America will not shift away from its location but for your dad nko? |

bosypumpin: Good morning house
to the contributors, thank you for the great work here.
I need your help oooo. hubby and I decided to do the US b1/b2 visa one.
My husband without telling me, mistakenly booked appointment before filling the DS 160 form. thus, the codes ( or confirmation thingy) differ. I seek your sound counsel on way forward. though, we had sent a mail to lagos NIV @state.gov and all the email addresses for issues regarding non immigrant visa. we are yet to hear from them.
Im an avid reader of the US thread and honestly, dont want to go over it backwards. as i type now, im in the court room. Pls, direct me. tnks. cc: Lady G, Chloe, seyewest, & Justwise ( thank God i saw your post where you said you don't respond to PM, that's why i sharperly pasted here) Fill up your DS160 get your confirmation number and call (+23414406218) the embassy to help you fix the DS Comfirmation code in your appointment.... be sure to explain what went wrong and they'll help you out in or less than 3 working days. Have a nice day |

I will be 34 by Feb 24,single and work as a Supervisor with DHL Aviation. Was in Dubai for 5 days last month during the shopping festival. Is it too early to start the process? Read through earlier thread and it seems being single is usually a red flag...My salary is ok even after tax. Please advise You are good to go bro.... do not fret, being single is not necessarily a red flag, it's being single and worthless that is. loads of single persons like me have gotten the visa, just be smart, dress your job and be 100% articulated, do not fret infront of the vO, thats all! |

Brother, dont make the mistake of absconding on a B1B2 visa. the troubles are enormous. You cant work without having a resident permit, and that can take you forever to get.... No jobs as america currently have loads of jobless and homeless pple to cater for, dont add up... No one will accommodate you that long till you get ur life in place, when you overstay your welcome you'll surely know.... if you are caught and thrown back, you are banned for life.... Again , must i book a flight with a return ticket? Brother schweinsteiger.... you don't need an already booked hotel/reservation for the US interview, on your DS160 you may state a hotel you likely would stay if granted. the VO's will never ask you for your hotel reservation (UK would, not US). Secondly, need no flight booking or reservation for your interview... it will shock you to note that your interview might not last 1:30mins even less sef. so all those senrenren is not needed. |

Thx for ur contributions use bookingdotcom, it will ask for your cc but will not charge you, you have the option of also stating when you want to pay and how (Daily or CC) be sure to narrow your search to the cheapest by using the filter tab on the site, you could get pretty cheap hotels that way and you don't need to be scared if they charge you at the end. lastly, on that site most of the hotels/motels/hostels offer free cancellation but it must be 2 days b4 ur arrival date. Here's me giving back after gaining a lot here.... Also would be sharing my colleagues transcript..... My advice helped her get her visa after 2 previous denials. she 'll be attending the same training as myself in Vegas and so she confided in me when she realized i already got my visa. i advised based on my experience here not to lie about her previous denials and to also dress her job role, look at the VO without fear, i told her never to employ the service of a tout/agent which she did the 1st and second time, i begged her to ensure she does show that her situation had changed and since she's currently engaged she should let the VO know all of this, all of which she did. Also told her about talking professionally about the training and never to mention the word conference while there. worthy to note is that 4 other of my colleagues all went to the embassy same day and for same reason but were all denied except for her, she heard all 4 of them shouting conference and that was the last they said when the VO announced "Sorry, i cant grant your visa at this time try blah blah blah..... time". (truth is that.... VO's now understand that people come with frivolous conferences to get visa and most likely don't want to hear more when they say the word conference blah blah blah..... MY ADVISE IS PICK OUT WHAT YOU STAND TO GAIN FROM THE CONFERENCE OR THE SESSION YOU ARE ATTENDING AND MAKE IT THE REASON YOU ARE TRAVELLING e.g VO - why are you going to Seattle, YOU - to attend the Digital and Augmented Reality Media Summit there) as soon as she got out of the embassy she thanked me cos she was the last of the 5 to be interviewed and she saw the transcripts of all 4 colleague. TRANSCRIPT. VO - Good Morning She - Good Morning VO - where are you travelling to? She - To Los Angeles, Nevada VO - say that again (Chuckling) She - Los Angeles, Nevada VO - (Now Laughing) Again She - Los Angeles, Nevada VO - Sorry, it's Las Vegas, Nevada (Apparently he saw it on her DS160) She - Aaaawww.... sorry (She made the same mistake while she was talking with me, so she remembered me at this point) VO - To do what there She - to attend the ------------ in --------- for ---------- (she didn't repeat the mistakes of others who just slammed the word "Conference" VO - How does this benefit you or your job She - she gave the VO an astounding breezer cos this was her job role. VO - (VO Nodded) Are you married She - (Like i advised) she told him she was engaged to be married in 3 months time (and this was true, never lie to the VO, somehow it will comeback to hunt you) VO - How long will you be staying? She - 11 days VO - who is sponsoring your trip? She - My organisation is. VO - Your visa has been approved.... blah blah blah............................. The vo never made mention of her previous denials and so she smiled to the office and gave me a super HUG. i felt like a genius. Thanks to this wonderful Nairaland family. to all those who still come here to ask dumb questions.... the truth is when i discovered this thread i never asked any question till i went for my interview, all i did was read from the 1st post to the last post, it took me 2 months, sometimes im in lagos traffic driving and reading nairaland. it was that bad...... anyway.... i have given back and this long post will most definitely help one wise brother/sister out there.
