seyewest: Abeg I will disagree if the conference/seminar/workshop is once a year do you think it's wrong for me to show desperation? This is about improving myself personally and career wise anyway my colleague re applied after 2 weeks and he was fortunate to get a date in less a month after he was denied. Guess what he was given that visa... and the V.O said you came for interview few weeks back and he said yes that it's important he participate in the Seminar and he granted him the visa. I think we don't know it all and everyone of us is a learner because we got the visa does not mean we are better than those denied who have genuine reason just like us who were granted. Bless you GBAM!!! |

LadyGuinivere: Exactly. And again, families get denied. My friend and her husband got denied. Just pointing out the fact that a married man must NOT travel with family. True LadyG.... But if he's married and travelling, it should be bussines/work/Seminar related.... If he's married and going for vacation with is family, COOl, If going alone, he must have a good reason... All in all, them go still deny anybody irrespective of how, who, when or how much you get! |

LadyGuinivere: Emmmm this opinion about vacationing without family... I see nothing in it o! I applied without hubby for vacation. Around winter sef and it wasn't an issue... Can we remember the person that said' I Want to go and see snow ooo' Ties trumps purpose anytime No one is saying it's an issue.... (There are always exemptions based on proven intent) In your case i'm sure you had to prove to the VO why your hubby wasn't travelling with you. 101 times I've heard how family applications are granted easier than that of a single/loners'! In fact, on my interview day 98% of all the granted interviews i experienced were Family or the old or celebrity, it was just I and one other guy that seemed to be single that got granted. Although, all of these are not cast in stone. Travelling with your family shows you are all gonna return back, It exhibits the true intent of the traveler, It shows financial strength, and it's always sweeter if they've got family travel history. |

Teed89: Good morning house, thank you all for the help.
I need you to assist me understand what I got wrong.
I applied for B1/B2 visa last year December but I was denied. I have reapplied and I went for my interview today, I was also denied. I just don't understand why I was denid again. After I was denied in December, I then travelled to UAE before going for my interview but I submitted my application January.
My transcript goes:
Me: Good morning CO: Passport please, flips through my passport about 3 times. I have been to Ghana, Togo, Benin, Kenya, UAE CO: why are you going to America? Me: I'm going for vacation CO: Typing........ CO: He asked me the same question again Me: I'm going on vacation to visit my family friend. CO: Types again.... CO: Sorry.... Denied under 214(b)
Next move was the exit.
When I got out, I was smiling and I never felt bad. People who saw me taught I was granted. I cannon keel myself.
What should I do before I reapply.
I'm in my 20s married and have a good job. You just summed it with the actual problem.... *How could you be going on vacation without your family? *How could your re-application be so soon? (The standard is 90 Days after refusal) *You did not even state what you applied for in the 1st time in December, that could also be a factor... Did you use an agent? *Lastly, you asked what you should do before you reapply... This is desperation, must you reapply? just so you don't just continually gift your cash out to the consulate. Give it some time and also ensure to improve your ties and your reason for travel. I'm also of the Opinion that the VO spotted ur lie/intent.... HOW COULD YOU JUST BE BACK FROM ONE VACATION (UAE) AND YOU ARE ALREADY PLANNING ANOTHER (US)? All in the space of 2 months. Please Answer, if you be VO wetin you go do? |

Udiboy: @ Danke, You be better person. Thank you for the insight. I will look at the 1st part of the thread as indicated. Na 2 girls and 2 boys. One boy dey post NYSC and the other na Engineer for construction company for Bayelsa.
Is there a place to fill post NYSC? Biko epp me !
Last question : They are in the East and can go to either Lagos or Abuja for the interview. Where would you recommend they go if they were your siblings? Thank you *Sincerely, the post NYSC brother of yours without a job is a red flag, but him fit do try-your-luck-sha. *The Engineer, looks good-to-go... *There's no place for post NYSC, he could only state that himself at the interview... As it is, HE'S JOBLESS, Chikena! Lastly, all US embassies have same human beings manning them with same training using same immigration laws... If dem like make dem go US embassy for Sambisa forest, na the same ooooo.... |

Udiboy: Beniyoha, 1. Please how does going with my parents passport work? Can it be allowed inside the place of interview and if yes, can they voluntarily show the Interviewer? Please, explain to me and pardon my ignorance.
2. Please what are examples of strong ties? My sisters are in both final year pharmacy and Medicine respectively .
Thank you. WOW... your sisters look good to go, with such courses and in final year. 1) Going with the passport is no big deal, all they need do is state it in the DS160 that they're traveling with their parents (Don't worry, the DS160 form has a space for that question) and on the interview day, they go with the passport. If the VO ask them for Passport/prove then they can present it. 2) Ties are relative, for some people, Good Job, Marriage, Properties etc, Please endeavor to read past thread-posts as all of these have been dealt with in the past, (ESPECIALLY THE PART 1 OF THIS THREAD) https://www.nairaland.com/608780/usa-visit-visa/102 Danke! |

Udiboy: Dear Gurus in the house, I have four siblings in thier 20's and they plan on coming for easter per my invitation. My parents are coming for easter as well for 1 month. They are on b1/B2. Is it advisable to schedule for group interview(family) or individually for the 4 of them?
Just curious! 2 are students and 2 are working. We just want to have a cool Family Easter vacation.
What are strong ties? How is it proved? Is being a student a strong tie?
Thank you
Thank you! Group is better since it's a vacation.... Being a student is not a strong tie, students could abandon their education in search for greener pastures. since your parents a travelling and they have their visas already your siblings could go with their passports... But it's not a guaranty. |

oganlalasokun: The website says I cannot cancel the appointment at this time. What can I do ? Have you tried rescheduling? Well other options includes you paying another MRV. it means "No-show" It's better than going ahead and attaching ur biometrics to a wrong information. If this mistake you corrected is not a collateral one and could be explained then i'll advice you show up for the interview and let the VO know about it. If it's a collateral one and may spell misrepresentation then kindly do ur self the good of forgoing that $160 and pay another. Sorry your change came too late. |

oganlalasokun: Pls I need an urgent help. I made a correction on a ds160 for which I corrected, it now gave me a new ds160 codes which I try to update on my interview page but when I put the new ds160 in there, it says error that I shld mail the embassy and today is Sunday. Interview is 8am tomorrow. What do I do now ? If your interview is tomorrow, wether you mail or call the embassy it's already too late to update appointment info as the new rule states this must be done at least 48hours/2days before your interview date. The only way out is to reschedule and if you've used up your 2 scheduling opportunity that acrues to your MRV you may have to pay another MRV.

I have been a silent reader all this while and happy say that I have really learnt a great deal in this forum and God bless everyone for their positive contribution. My brother came back to Nigeria from southafrica in December,2015.He is planning on applying for usa visit visa.He has a temporary south Africa life partner permit which will expire in 2019 and while discussing with him I told him it is better he applys for the usa visit visa from southafrica?pls members of the house can you put a word in this matter or advice if he should go ahead to apply from Nigeria or go back to southafrica and apply from there.tanks Everything boils down to TIES... where does he have more ties? If you or himself knows the answer then that's where he should apply from. And just in case you are gonna ask about TIES... Please just read up the part one and two of this thread. Adios! |

schweinsteiger: Thanks dear, they care most on monetizing part, because i have seen family that looked very very rich that was rejected , so they could come & pay $160 again
http://www.theheraldng.com/us-embassy-made-n2-1-bln-from-rejected-visa-applicants-in-2015/ @Schweinsteiger here's my take on the link you posted... 1) The US did not force any of us to GTBank to deposit our cash their in their name, it was a personal decision. so weather they monetize it or not it's their country ours can do same if we have what it takes. The link also stated that about 60% got the Visa, that's a plus considering that everyone can't just get it on a platter. 2) From what i have deduced so far in the US interview. America values brains not cash, (This is a typical Nigerian problem, cos for us it's the other way round) reasons why they have the best brainy people in the world. and so they make their visa process center around your composure, persona, (profession) or professionalism. 3) Lastly, 5 Billion naira a whole year is trash money to just one US state for a month expenditure. They even give us aide above that sum. Just my own 50kobo tho.... |

U have families, kids back home and will love to return back to them. U can be sure an average Nigerian company will surely manage anything, like managing an aircraft. U shld understand me better No flight or airline is cast in perfect gold.... But to think that all the airlines you trust at one time or the other have had crashes but this Arik have never in their history experienced any. And ARIK run this 12 hours flight almost everyday, every single month a year without any crash report... that's a plus! If i may ask, do you fly foreign airlines for your local trips? LagosNIV: The question very well may have been asked as a decoy but for a very different reason than you believe. As I mentioned we have records of the DV-lottery, so if you lie about it - as the individual did in your example - then we can't trust anything you say. That's more like a 100% refusal.
Again, the decision may have already been made based on the information that the VO had collected and they were just chatting while they completed their report. Well said... Now i get your point clearly, thanks for the clarification! |
