THANK YOU FOR THE RESPONSE
PLEASE HOW TO I SUBMIT WITHOUT LOADING THE PIX WHAT BUTTON SHOULD I CLICK ON
Just continue filling the form till you get to the end where you are asked to upload your passport photograph, there you'll find an option to do so just before your sign the electronic signature. Best of luck.

GOOD DAY MY PEOPLE
I HAVE STARTED THE FILLING OF THE DS 160 FORM AND I GOT TO A POINT I DONT REALLY UNDERSTAND THE STAGE OF LOADING A PICTURE.
I WANT TO KNOW IF ITS A MUST I LOAD A PASSPORT PHOTOGRAPH BEFORE I CAN COMPLETE TE FORM OR AM FILLING THE WRONG FORM
You should load a picture, it's always better if you imputed it from the beginning when testing your pix for compatibility.

However, you could submit without a picture but you must go to the interview with a 600X600 (2by2) white background passport photograph.

Hello house, I want to apply for a tourist visa with my 3year old daughter, was supposed to travel as a family with my husband but he can't make the trip. My question
1 I'm thinking of traveling for December, when is best time to apply for a visa.
2 my husband is our sponsor, what document will he give me to present.
3 we will be staying in a hotel, do we have to book hotel reservation ahead of the interview.
We both have not travelled b4, our passport is virgin. Thanks
*It will be better you all appear so he can explain himself and how he intends to sponsor, since he doesn't even have his visa yet.
*You can apply anytime, at least 1 month ahead of your planned travel date.
*As per hotel, you can and you may not... But you'll likely need an hotel address while filling your DS160.

Thanks for the response. Though the conference is "May 2017". If i was granted the visa, i know i will have to renew d passport and travel along with the new and old passport.. Can i apply with the old passport? If granted, i will renew ma passport and if not i will have to wait till i have intention of travelling.

Ma second question is...
I was denied a visa dis month and hoping to reapply again on same conference nxt year. I hope it is not too early to reapply?
(2) I want the interview should be Jan nxt year. Hope is not too far to d date of conference?
Awaiting your swift response.
Thanks
You can apply anytime, the consulate always advice on early application. But since your passport would be due for renewal in February why not just apply after you've renewed. By February you still have 3/4 months to May.

Remember, May is the 5th month of the year, that's quiet a long time.

Hmmmm this one pass as early as possible o! cheesy

1. You can either apply with the old passport and if successful travel with it till expiry and then carry along the new passport with the old one or kuku apply for a new passport and have the visa in the new one. Personally I prefer the 2nd option.

2. Do u mean, can there tbe a discrepancy in the old ds160 and the one u intend to fill? Hmmm the vo may look at that as misrespresentation. If it was a honest mistake, u should fill the CORRECT info and explain.

3. Yes the record of your interview is permanent. The new vo can view everything u said to the previous interviewer
*YES he can apply with the old passport if it's not yet bellow 6 months... (The embassy wont grant your visa if they find out it's less than 6 months, tho some have escaped this)

*NO, he cant travel with that passport till it expires, as soon as the passport is less than 6 months to expire he must renew because the US law states: Visitors traveling to the U.S. are required to be in possession of passports that are valid for six months beyond the period of their intended stay in the U.S.

After renewal, your new passport carries both the old and a new passport number this keeps all your visas in the old passport valid.
Visas in an old/expired passport don't expire with the passport.

Ehen I no know o, I counted that as checks too because why would they be calling my friend to ask questions you get? As for uk I tire for them drop any fake document and you are caught
I think the problem of running background checks in Nigeria is due to the fact that we don't have accurate data collection system, our response time is poor and generally everyone just does what he or she likes like an headless chicken. The US also believe even those in government offices, banks and agencies are conspirators which is true.... So why waste your time to still get a doctored report or claim confirmed?

But for the US, even myself I'm always in awe of how soon and fast they respond to your emails or complaint when in correspondence with any US organization. It's a norm. UK just do the check only when they consider you for the visa if they don't they just outrightly deny you. It's painstaking for them but it's a small country with lesser applicants compared to the US.

so what about my friend that they called his point of contact to ask personal information about him since he claimed that he was a Friend, they called the person a day before interview during working hours then was night here and his interview was 7am so I believe they do checks at random
Hahahaha.... This is not background check na. This is validation of travelling claim and intent. Always done on their own end.

Background check means they are investigating you, your personal information, work or source of income, crime, bank details and transactions, utilities, and so on...

Please tell me one person who's employer they called?
But for UK you can't count even your bank account self them go confirm.
TravelRe: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by Beniyoha01(m): 7:40pm On Mar 15, 2016
chloe7:
I think background checks are conducted no matter how close the date you fill your ds160 and schedule your interview date e no matter, and I think it is conducted at random, you don't expect them to say yes we conduct background checks na they can't divulge all that information, i'm saying background checks are conducted based on a friend that was interviewed and was granted background checks were conducted and he got appointment 4 days to the date he filled ds160 pretty close
Why I also believe they don't conduct background checks is that if you look very well, they are loads of people with bad reputation and even yahoo yahoo boys who have visas.... So this corroborates the VO's stance that they don't.

Why should they (American Embassy) lie about that? UK does and they don't hide it so why would the US lie? Are they scared of us?

Any way that Google hangout session is still on YouTube every one should feel free to Google it up.

Hmmm. Now l be honest. I know background checks are conducted. But without being a staff of the embassy I can't speak for how and the time frame of these checks.
But hey! Who knows? Maybe u should pick a later date. Anything that could help is gOod. Though please this is just my opinion based on whimsy and no facts.
Shebi na u be the klegically babe ? cheesy
Contrary to speculations and believe.... The embassy does not conduct background check on NIV applications.

How do I know this....? For the 1St time last year Lagos NIV conducted a Google hangout session with VO Andrew, Kathy and I can't remember the last lady, she's new and the moderator of that hangout was a colleague of mine Oluwaseun P and he specifically asked the VO's that questions and they said No, they don't do such.

Secondly, my best pal got his visa last week and he only applied a week and half ahead of the interview date.

So have no fear.... You are on point with the application.

Morning Gurus,
I just received a call from a lady from the US consulate. She was asking different questions about the visa I was given in 2014 which is to expire Nov 2016. she also asked if I'm aware I qualify for a drop box for next renewal. I queried her and she said. It's a general thing from the consulate. Please are there people who have received calls from the consulate?
The particular call does not have anything to worry about, be it a good call or scam call as long as nothing was requested from you. It could be a new CRM policy from the Embassy to their faithful customer grin tongue

Hello house, i kindly need responses to help me out in filling my DS160 form,
My wife won a DV Visa lottery some years back, i was the beneficiary as she was the principal applicant.i went with her for the interview but we did not get the visa because the VO said the form was filled incorrectly. the refusal letter was issued in her name. Right now i plan going for a conference and in the DS160 form i need to know the response to put in in these two questions either YES or NO

Have you ever been refused a U.S. Visa, or been refused admission to the United States, or withdrawn your application for admission at the port of entry?

Has anyone ever filed an immigrant petition on your behalf with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services?

Thanks house.
Based on all that you stated above

1St question - answer is Yes (visa lottery is also a visa)
2nd question - answer is NO

@Benny I had no intention to insult or otherwise. Just pointed out that in this particular case, the poster says she wants to birth in the us. That is her purpose. A friend of mine and her husband applied pregnant and said we may or may not birth in the US. They were refused. I can't speak to the mind of the vo but if a vo reads the fact that a poster says I actually wanna birth in the us and then sees an applicant next week saying I may/may not use the visa for birthing purposes.....do u see the ish?

Visa and airline rules are different. Delta has no policy on carrying preggars. So the issues are absolutely seperate. E concern the applicant about how she wan fly. Doctor's corresponsdence can be gotten in 2 days and travel plans made overnight. Its one thing to get a visa, its another to have a smooth entry if any...
Please I have no personal grouse with u and always holla u unto paddy levels even thou na here be our playground. I just differed with your opinion.
Ok. Before we ( plus me)forget, there's a special thread for birthing...
Thanks LadyGuinivere, In life we disagree to agree and agree to disagree, this is the premise upon which inventions and innovations are made amidst mistakes and successes. We all don't know it all. But must forge ahead!

It would be useful to remind her that she also still has to pass the Point of Entry.
If she is obviously pregnant with no doctors contacts and possibly insufficient funds.
She might have problems there even with a visit visa.

(Many others have.)
Exactly my point of view.... reason why i broke it down to her current pregnancy state, if you read the birthing thread you'll see loads of cases and advice that supports my post. but my advice was made to seem like MISINFORMATION.
TravelRe: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by Beniyoha01(m):

there's always an exception to every rule of law, the bolded isn't always so all the time as heavily preggys have gotten visas and 36 weeks gone mama's have flown and also some airlines don't bother about flying heavily preggys while some won't even carry from 28 weeks upwards
I don't think we should advice people based on EXCEPTIONAL CASES but based on standards and protocols....
Anyway, the onus is on her to take or do what suites her.

If the standard practice is to correspond with a US doctor and if it also says 3rd trimester pregnancies should not be boarded on a plane then where did i err?
TravelRe: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by Beniyoha01(m):
LadyGuinivere:
Please let's not water Down the advice we give here or create grey areas where none exists. She is pregnant. She intends to birth in the USA. Pretty str8 forward if I say. No A and B scenario.Let's not also forget this thread is read by the VO's and this underhand move will piss a reasonable man off as being crooked.
Wht worked for A may not work for B. But preparation always pays off.

@Temi. It is perfectly legal to birth in he US and yes u can tell the vo u want to give birth in the us. U just have to work very hard in the next one week to be prepared. Preparation is key
Follow the link that Benny posted and ask your questions. But kindly read the very ist page of the thread there ist. U may find most of your questions already answered. Especially as your question is kinda a commonly asked question and folks may not be very nice if u don't catch up on the basics ist
My advice was based on the premise that airlines don't fly heavily pregnant women neither will a VO grant such knowing that she's heavily pregnant and going to birth.

Secondly, my advice that she tells the VO she hopes to birth in the US but not on this particular trip is on the premise that she has not corresponded with a Doctor and in such a case the VO might just think she wasn't prepared or intends to use Medicaid. True there are special cases of people who got their visas without a doctors correspondence but IMO it's better to be well prepared and informed than not

By these i don't think I've erred as insinuated, Good Morning all!

Gdeveng all. Am a jjc here. My husband. Baby ND I applied for a b1/b2 last week and got next week for our interview. The issue I av now is dat in d application we only stated dat we are going on vacation. I am pregnant and wld want to av my baby in d USA. Do u think one can tell d vo.dat we are going on vacation and we intend to have our baby there as well Dats when asked y we are going to d USA?
I'll advice you not to complicate your chances.... If your pregnancy is pronounced and would be due in the next 3 or 4 month then your application is faulty. You ought to have corresponded with a doctor/hospital prior to now.

But if your pregnancy is still in its 1St trimester and not glaringly pronounced then it's safe to tell the VO that you are pregnant and you hope to birth in the US but not on this particular trip.

Thank you for your response it's the issue of telling lies the problem I have is that I don't have the addresses of the family that I have in the USA that is my problem and I don't want call anyone to send address and details and he or she will feel u are going to be a burden to them. I just want to know if it's okay for me just say no relative over there or I will say yes and also claim I don't have the details the so called family I need assistance family
Hi Wunmi,

It's as simple as saying: YES, i do have relatives but i don't have any plan of visiting or staying with them.
Even at POE you'll state the same thing and you will not have any problem, you don't need to have their address or know anything about them as long as you've already told the VO that you aren't staying with them.... Kapich!

1 the issue of educational qualification should I use last educational qualification or should start with secondary school
2 we were denied twice in Decembers 2013 and January 2014 do I make the statement separately
3 we wish to travel in july for vacation and will be staying with a family friend, I do have some family over there but I don't intend staying with anyone of them so can I go ahead to state that I don't have any family in usa apart from the person am staying with.
looking forward to a positive response
1) Use tha last or most recent (could be BSc, MSc, PhD)
2) just state the latest one. VO's can see all your denials
3) Do not lie, they have your records due to your past applications. Just tell them you have relatives but u ain't staying with them (check past interviews here and you'll see such examples)

@onyemachius forget about everything you filled in the past and fill in a new DS 160. I can assure you that you won't be asked any question on a No-show application from wayback.

And if they do ask... Explain exactly to them the way you posted it above.

@onyemachius....

Forget about that old Ds160 and start a new one. You are good to go.

As at the time you sent in that Ds160 to now they should expect a change in your situation or life. So go ahead with your application without fear or prejudice.

People have appeared at the embassy with silly stories in the past and got denied and they came back years later when their life/situation changed and did get the visa, in your case you haven't even appeared yet.
