This post shows you one of the ways to secure job interview. Once you locate a job or jobs you’re qualified for especially the highly competitive ones, apply the SAME DAY. It worked for most of my friends. Don’t procrastinate. If you wait more than required, you may not get it again. The longer you wait, the limited the chances are. Most job seekers apply for any job out of desperation whether they’re qualified for it or not. As a result, it becomes difficult for employers to open all files/CVs. Consequently, most of them limit their screening to a certain number. For example, lets assume a job just closed the previous day. Thousands must have applied for it. Put yourself in the shoes of the recruiters, would you go through all the CVs? Your guess is as good has mine. They may just sort through the first 2,000 (out of 10,000 for example). And once they get about 50 – 100 applicants or more they can invite for interview or test, they dump the rest (off in the trash). Very few job websites may be trusted when it comes to this. Most are dumping sites. In most cases, they post jobs a bit late even though the job may have some days before it lapses. Some sites are nothing but ‘copy-cats’. You do not know when exactly the job was released to the labour market but you only know the closing date. For Nigerians, nairaland.com (job section) for example is a good site you should visit often. Be prompt at applying for jobs! Guess you're smarter now. Please, feel free to add any other vital steps job seekers can take to boost their chances of being called or shortlisted for interviews.

You can my dear. It's just that there are some sections of the CV that'll be left out. Check out this topic on this platform and see if you can make anything out of it... https://www.nairaland.com/2185176/how-quickly-write-catchy-cv |

Create clear and distinct sections that are well-defined so that once an employer picks up your CV, within 15 to 30 seconds, the message would be easily decipherable. This is what wins you a call-up for interview. By section, I mean: • Professional/Profile/Career Summary • Personal Detail/Bio-data (optional) • Education • Professional/Work Experience • Accomplishments/Achievements • Core/Key Skills/Competencies • Training/Membership/Affiliation/Certification • Referees (purely ‘Available on request’) The arrangement is relative to the strength of each section. The inclusion of ‘Referees or References’, State of Origin, LGA, Religion, etc are now obsolete. Further more, your presentation must be catchy. You need power-words (word density) to give your CV a colourful and undeniable edge above several many others in the job market. If this is strictly adhered to, no employer will ever treat your CV with disdain again! http://www.benjommediaoutfit.com/how-to-quickly-write-a-catchy-cv/ See the picture of a sample below:

...Please, specify your preference clearly. |
If your CV is relatively good and you've been getting invites regularly, this information is not for you. If however you've submitted your CV for different job placements and there seems to be little or no attendant results, perhaps, you may need to look at your CV again to see if it has enough stamina to withstand the highly populated Nigerian job market. Is your CV catchy enough and with all the modern day employers' preferences intact? Be honest with yourself, will an employer be able to comprehend the message of your CV within 15 to 30 seconds without thrashing it? If your answers are not satisfactory, then, you may need to rewrite that CV! If you think that the CV template below may be of help to you, then request for the MS Word (editable) version from exceptionalcvbox@gmail.com and do the editing yourself. Use 'Template' as the subject of your mail. If however you find this tasking or time consuming, you may attach your CV and send to the same email address with 'Edit My CV' as the subject of your mail. No employer will treat your CV with disdain again! .
