The truth is, many people especially those in the opposition are waiting for the government to fail for self gratifying. It's obvious the government are working on the security, not that they are not doing anything about this menace, it's only necessary to pay attention to to other areas, in this case cracking down on people hoarding food. In as much as I understand and agree that government should be criticized and be responsible for whatever ineffective policy, I believe we should be logical while doing that. I don't know if you get my point sir

My oga sir,

Whatever strategy being deployed to fight insecurity is definitely not working.

Almost one year after the administration got into power, the insecurity has worsened.

Let's put aside opposition for now and tell the truth because these same people in power were also in opposition and we know the words they spoke back then.

There are people benefiting from the insecurity.
Those are the people to go after. They can't because they are influential people.

They are the problem, is it the farmer that will grow cement for you, or cooking Gas. These people are creating artificial scarcity in order to increase prices

Let me explain something to you:

These people with these warehouses have been in business for a long time, doing this storage business.

The scarcity of food isn't caused by the warehouses.
It's caused by lack of enough farmers on the farm due to insecurity.

What you call artificial scarcity is people doing their normal storage business. It's the scarcity of food that's driving the cost upwards not the warehouse owners.

That storage business in itself is risky especially when farmers are in full operation. Their stored produce may not yield much profit.

If government continues like this then in few month's to come prices will triple the more.
There are wholesalers who supplies retailers from the their warehouses.
They stocked this warehouse in millions and sell to market women little by little.
Attacking this people is like attacking the supply chain. Nigerians will pay for this in few months to come from now

Apt.
It doesn't even make sense but many people not having an understanding of how things work are quick to support the government which is just a very short term benefit.

When we all should hold government accountable and make them get to work.

Just like Peterside, you can see many evil people still condemning this move. What exactly do you suggest the government do?? Na wa O

The only solution is to fight insecurity.

Imagine using force to 'loot' a storage business of their produce because there's scarcity caused by government failure in security.

It doesn't make sense

Which investors are you talking about, they are hoarding to make life unbearable for masses.

Bust their warehouse, sell for people at low price. Awon were

You really don't know what's happening.

Those people who government claim are 'hoarding' are business people into storage business.

They are not the problem.
The problem is politicians leaders that have refused to work on the insecurity problem making farmers run from the farms. That's the true problem.

Do you know that in the value chain, there are some into storage business?

If I am operating a storage business, so I should open the warehouse for government to dictate and sell at whatever cost they like....

All those 'hoarding' dem dey shout up and down are investors in the storage business. It's not a new business in the value chain. Why the witch hunt?
Politics / Tinubu Lists Solutions To Nigeria's Current Problem by BennyDGreat: 3:21pm On Feb 16
At the meeting with Nigerian Governors yesterday, President Tinubu has highlighted solutions meant to alleviate the pressure on the Economy.

The question is:
Does the government have intention to follow through their plan?

Below is the highlight from the meeting obtained from the official handle of the President;

Dear Nigerians,

My administration is dedicated to evolving home-grown solutions to tackle our nation's food security challenges head-on including setting up schemes to bolster local food production and cut out all forms of rent-seeking tied to food importation.

I reiterated this commitment during my emergency meeting today at the State House, with all 36 state governors, the Vice-President, Kashim Shettima, the National Security Adviser, the Inspector-General of Police, the Director-General of the DSS, and some ministers.

ON THE SECURITY OF LIVES AND PROPERTY

1. I have approved the creation of a committee that includes state governors and federal government representatives to explore, among other things, the possibility of establishing state police.

2. I have also endorsed the training and equipping of forest rangers by sub-national governments to protect human and natural resources in our communities.

My stance is unequivocal: we must move aggressively to examine the issues raised, including the potential for establishing state police.

ON FOOD SECURITY

Following reports out of Kano and other areas about large-scale hoarding of food in some warehouses, I have instructed the National Security Adviser, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Director-General of the Department of State Services to coordinate closely to ensure that security agencies in the states inspect such warehouses and take follow-up action.

1. We cannot allow speculators, hoarders, and rent seekers to undermine our efforts in ensuring that food is widely available to all Nigerians.

2. I will not establish a price control board, nor will I approve the importation of food. We must extricate ourselves from this predicament because importation only enables rent seekers to perpetrate fraud and mismanagement at our collective expense.

3. Instead, we will support our farmers with schemes that encourage them to cultivate more food for the nation.

4. We must also rapidly but thoughtfully implement our livestock development and management plans, including dairy farming and others.

ON MONETARY POLICY AND THE CBN

I urge all governors to trust the Central Bank of Nigeria with the management of our country’s monetary policy, and emphasized the need for designated institutions to effectively fulfill their mandate.

The "cacophony of postulations" on the fluctuation of foreign exchange rates is adversely affecting the market. Not everyone can be an expert. If we have assigned someone a task, we must allow them to perform it. If they fail, then we must find a way to quickly remove them from the system.

I also ask our governors to always prioritize the welfare and prosperity of our people in their development programs, and I asssure them that the federal government will continue to work diligently to improve the nation’s revenue profile.

As leaders, we must all work together to address issues of insecurity, food security, and out-of-school children.

Thank You

Bola Ahmed Tinubu
President

Who do you expect to implement those key points you highlighted above?

The problem has gone beyond what you think. What is coming , is actually greater than what we are seeing now.

The only solution left to fix Nigeria as fast as possible is regionalism or eradicate states and give local governments full autonomy to deal with people directly within their jurisdictions.

The thing about Nigerians is we don't unite.
If we did, we would have set up a system of accountability....like every quarter you will give us report and then we ask questions.

Any unsatisfactory part, we will probe and if you can't give an explanation, we ask you to step down but it's not feasible with the tribalism and religious sentiments.

Regionalism is good.
Autonomy for local government is good but in all honesty, this administration will never do anything to reduce FG Power through resource control, regional government or local government autonomy.

North majorly will say no to restructuring.

It means no more free money and everyone will have to sort themselves out with what they make within their territory. That's tough to implement on a short term.

That's how you choose to see it.

Have you seen an economy recovery plan from this government detailing short term initiatives like: reversing the current custom duties, doing massive manhunt for those killing farmers, arrest and prosecuting anyone who steals government funding, becoming accountable to the people by telling us how much the FG shares to state per month for accountability, setting up strategic PPP to kickstart some quality projects....

To Long Term- Revamping our power sector by attracting investors, improving our cash crop production, agro processing plants, encouraging local production in poultry, textile, iron and steel amongst others, leveraging on local refineries to provide gas powered plants for power....

It's not my job to come up with a plan for the government.

They are the one with the figures and facts.

If they can't come up with a plan, they won't do anything

It all starts with a plan

Going by the current economic realities in Nigeria, it has become important for the APC led administration to step up to keep the country together.

Here are some strategies to deploy:

1. Roll out a plan
Tinubu administration needs to roll out a detailed solution highlighting how they intend to improve local production in agriculture and manufacturing.

The plan must feature long term and short term solution and must be in the public space for accountability.

2. Give manufacturers soft landing....The government needs to relax on multiple taxes being issued to manufacturers considering the rising cost of production materials, power and product distribution.

Also, duties of importing materials must be slashed.

3. Reduce Government Expenditure- The cost of running governance in Nigeria is too expensive!

If government can implement a 40% cut starting out from June this year, it will give them opportunity to use the monies saved for other developmental projects

Change begins with government before it moves to the people.

4. Fight insecurity-one of the major cause of food shortage is insecurity. It has made it impossible for local farmers to go to farm for fear of being killed.

If the government really wants food sufficiency, guarantee the lives of the local farmers.

5. Allow more private individuals into power-To reduce the current challenges, Nigeria must allow the power industry thrive by choking the corruption within the industry.

Issues within the generation, transmission and distribution networks must be looked into and taken care of.

If different power investors come in knowing their investments won't be put into jeopardy, within 6-12 months, we can witness key infrastructural investment and begin to see some benefits within a few months.

Eradicating insecurity is the first step of Nigeria greatness and Tinubu is not joking with it at all.

With security, Farmers will be able to go to farm and food will become cheaper.

The fact here is that most Nigerians Citizen has been pampered and spoilt by how Government dey pay subsidy for them.

And in south Africa it's N940, same as Zambia and Zimbabwe.

These kinds of policies is what cuts off the people's trust in government and drive panic exit....some people who never considered japa before will do so now seeing they cannot trust the government.
