After all Oil deposits are in the SS while Gas deposits in Imo are in the SE since relocation of offices is our main focus now

All agriculture ministries and agencies should be relocated to the NC and NE

Let's all be crazy and stupid in government then since we have nothing better to do than relocation

What they did is the right call.
They curved pure wastage.

Painful but true. I feel for her.

This is bad, from lectures to military officers, they don't want to learn from their colleagues that have been sacked and humiliated

I'm sure the colonel will be investigated but she shouldn't have to social media, it's against military tradition.

If I were her, I would take my time, gather all the evidence and then report him to the army authority , infact the colonel will be afraid of her if he knows she has something she can use against him.

That tradition is useless if they cannot set up a structure within the army to address issues like this without bias.

Listening to her, she made attempts to get help but it was all squashed due to the ranking of those involved...it shows the Army is structured to make the subordinates slaves and suffer without complain while enduring it.
Politics / Re: Tinubu To Reshuffle Cabinet, Five Ministers likely to Be Dropped - The Will by BennyDGreat: 7:09pm On Jan 11
emkz:
I propose to drop the following:

(1) Hanatu Musawa
(2) Lola Ade-John
(3) Bayo Adelabu
(4) Gboyega Oyetola
(5) Lateef Fagbemi SAN
(6) Senator Geidam
(7) Uche Nnaji
(8 ) Dr Bosun Tijani (I don't know what the hell he is doing). The most basic thing for him to do is to get us a functional database. Let us get everyone captured by NIN. How can you plan without data?
(9) Minister of Education: he is confused.

I'd also ask the president to advertize the jobs so that unknown members of the public and those in diaspora can apply and they should be screened. I'd ask the president to hire a reputable recruiting firm to grill nominees on their programmes and what they want to contribute to national development. This is necessary because the senate screening is clearly a joke. Let us change the way we recruit public servants and not leave things to politicians.

Questions we can ask:

(1) Identify the functional ways to address low food productivity nationwide that can produce results in two months.
(2) Assuming you are given portfolio xyz, what targets do you set for yourself for the next six months to two years?
(3) Let them study the party manifesto and explain how they'd implement the plans.
(4) What do you understand by the public procurement system and accounting?
(5) Write an essay on the development agenda you'd like to see working for the country. Identify the defects in your proposal.
(6) Then gather all of them in a room and give them case histories of Nigeria's current challenges. Give them 2 hours to brainstorm and 1 hour to put their thoughts together to advise the president.
Finally, let the ministers sign an undated resignation letter and let them know they'd be on probation for three months, and their continued stay in the cabinet would be tied to performance.

Imagine Hanatu Musawa clearly has no clue what to do with a big ministry. Imagine Lola Ade John going missing since her confirmation. Imagine Bayo Adelabu jumping from one party to another as if he thinks ministerial appointment is for fun.

These questions are very important.
Food productivity cannot be resolved within two months. However, a plan can come up.

The issues in Nigeria are not extremely hard to resolve if there's a strong will from the people above. It will take time to clear the issues but give like 4-5 years, with the right steps and commitment, Nigeria will be out of the mess.

Ivy Leagues mostly populate the M7, but there are subtle differences. MIT & Stanford are not Ivy Leagues, but Stanford GSB is part of the M7, but MIT Sloan is not. Brown University is an Ivy League, but not included as it has no b-school. The same applies to Princeton, another Ivy, but no b-school.

Ohh thank you for educating me.

Bros, it does not work that way. A year's experience at Boston Consulting Group is equivalent to three years at PwC. A year of work experience at PwC is equivalent to five years' of work experience at Atutupoyoyo Consulting. These days, business school students tend to be much younger than their predecessors ten years ago. This is more so for someone with stellar grades from a good school and work experience from an elite firm.

There was a Unilag grad, also engineering, who spent less than three years at McKinsey (BCG oga at the top) and got into Harvard Business School with a Seven-Up scholarship. No one who is interested in business school spends that long garnering work experience before applying. However, as you said, depending on his background and preferences, if he gets into the O&G industry, he might not be interested in b-school because of the hefty salaries. Whatever his preferences is his prerogative. But that aspect of spending seven years before b-school is outdated.

Another thing: folks from STEM courses who work for strategy/business/consulting/finance/sales/accounting firms as their first jobs after school tend to stick with it rather than return to academic programs. This dude is going to an M7. I would be here to mention it in five years' time.

You spoke facts.

How someone will graduate with 5.0 CGPA in a Nigerian university baffles me. Somehow it feels fake.

I don't really believe it.

Before you come for me, I graduated with 1st class and was the top of my class in Engineering as well.

And it's always from this particular school. I feel they just inflate their students results.

How can you have 5.0 CGPA after Technical Drawing, Thermodynamics, Fluid mechanics, ODE, Engineering Maths, Statics, Dynamics etc, and none of them gave you a B? Haba

That 5.0CGPA in Engineering is fake.

It's not the first time it's happening in UNILAG.
Several years ago, one graduated with 5.0 in computer engineering and honestly, people testified she was a geek!

Forget, for this guy to graduate with this kind of CGPA, the guy was obviously far above his peers.

UNILAG has had like three folks graduating with 5.0 till now...one in Biochemistry, Computer Engineering and psychology....I remember one of them attending an IVy league school for postgraduate....

These guys are in a league of their own. They just happen to come around the same time. If it had happened in the 1970 or 1980, everyone would have easily believed.

But you can't fault the fact that these guys are exceptionally brilliant regardless of the time they came.

Let me tell you something.
Any major church in Nigeria like MFM, Rccg, Winners, Deeper Life, Catholic, Methodist, Anglican spends a lot of money on charity.

The reason you don't hear it is because they don't announce it.

Also, I am saying this as a comparison with TB Joshua. I am saying to tell you that you can't conclude on who spends the most because you don't have access to the CSR records of these churches.

Business / Roadside Trading In Lagos Wont Stop Until... by BennyDGreat: 5:25pm On Jan 06
By Ebenezer Mabinuola

As I went through this thread below, I had mixed emotions:
https://www.nairaland.com/7960125/lagos-government-seizes-goods-displayed/1

On one hand, I was concerned about the source of livelihood of people being carted away.

On another hand, I was concerned about these repeated raids that seemed not to be addressing the root cause of street trading in Lagos.

Many elements within the mix needs to be examined to understudy why street trading is a norm in Lagos.

One factor that encourages street trading is the cost of rent for these traders. Many of these street traders cannot afford to rent shops. As such, they pitch their tent beside the roads, causing traffic to cars and passer by.

Another factor is the daily tickets. Every individual who sells by the road side has specific amounts they pay for space.

Whether you use a table, use nylon on bare floor or even hang your wares around your neck standing, YOU MUST PAY.

I remember seeing someone last December selling belts by the road side being given ticket.
Many claim these tickets are controlled by the Local government/ friends of the Local government in those areas.

THE BIG QUESTION
When these goods ( perishable and non-perishable) are seized, what really happens to them at the office?

Is Seizing the goods instead of proferring a lasting solution not increasing poverty index among these traders and their families?

Considering solutions that last rather than subjecting the erring traders into deeper poverty is the best thing to do.

The question then would be: Is the government ready to go all out to address this issue without making the people poorer?

Makes a lot of sense.

In the case of Naigerian politicians greed, Naigerians, the struggles and hardship. The blame should go to the Naigerians masses. What you should understand is tbat the Naigerian politiicans emerged from or are chosen by the masses and the masses are the same people enabling their politicians in their corrupt practises and artrocities

Example, Naigerian politicians would not be able to embezzle funds, implement their corrupt practises, intimidate or harrass ordinary Naigerians wiihout the help of other Naigerians. Another problem is tribalism and ethnic
discriminations, Now, these problem can be resolved without God's favours or interventions. Naigerians should first recognise that they are no different from their politicians in terms of greed, selfishness and being corrupt. If they want to fix the problems they should begin with themselves once the masses behaviours changes positively the politicians would have no choice but change also. Co's no Naigerian would help them implement their corrupt practises anymore.

This is how Naigerians politicans rules Naigerian, very simple, Keep them poorer, angry, hungry, divide them tribalistically and give them circus and little food to feed on and watch them fight themselves. Create the problem and pretend to help in solving the problems grin And it will never change for better because every up comming Naigerian politicians will use the same method co's they all have the same mindset.

This is my views anyway.

As much as I want to agree with you that the problems can be resolved without God's favour or intervention because most are man-made/ man- controlled.

You must understand that the Nigeria has a systemic issue backed up by deep spiritual influences.

It's easy to talk down on the spiritual influences because they are not usually publicised and you can't really connect the spiritual influence to the systemic problem mentally unless you are spiritual.

Every strategy of keeping the people poor, angry, hungry, divided etc...are all insured by spiritual invocations. Mentally, this sounds absurd but in reality, it's the current situation.

Have you wondered why despite the hardship, the people can't unite and fight the source of the hardship?

Nigeria needs a deep systemic cleansing.
It will take a lot of people to fight the current ills.

You see, before nowadays humans only needed enough to live comfortably, example, shelter, food and lives stock from their lands, maybe cloths (depending on what they wore at that time) anyone who can live comfortably do not need excess unnercerssary wealth or money.

But thesedays humans have become very selfish, materialistic money/wealth obsessed. Humans wants to own six houses, 7 vehicles, a whole house full with expensive cloths, shoes and accessories. Humans have started struggling or feels they are sruggling because they are wanting more and more and more of things they want rather than what they need.

Being wealthy is relative, if i can make enough to live comfortably as i have chosen to live, I work hard towards it so that would mean i don't need God's favours if has always being natural for man to work to feed his families, animals still does so. humans do not need any favours to achieve what they already has the natural abilities to achieve, they only began to seek some divine favours or miracles from God when they began wanting more and more of what they do not need, like 6 mansions or 1 dozen Range Rovers . grin

These are my views anyway. You don't have to agree.

Thank you for sharing this. You made a very powerful point.

That human selfishness you mentioned is what makes the resources ought to be shared unaccessible to everyone.

Working hard enough today doesn't mean one would be comfortable and able to afford basic things, especially in Nigeria.

While some struggle in a bid to get more material things, others are victims of those who greedily hold on to resources the struggling people should benefit from-A case of Nigerian politicians.

God's favour in this case would then amplify a man's work to move him above the selfishness of other men

Good luck

God's favour doesn't undermine hard work.
Rather, it fully backs it and yes, money doesn't fall from above.

Not correct. God's favour amplifies what you do.
The reason you say it doesn't exist is because you haven't fully grasped the dynamics of it's operation.

Hopefully, the "Real Man Trophy" which equates to a man who always puts a woman's needs above his is worth it. This guy has seen the light.

Debating it on Nairaland would likely turn into a misogynistic slurfest, and there's a difference between misogyny and a man making himself a priority.

I think a man should spend and protect a woman who has proven her worth and shown herself to be kind.

I see men - some from the SE - toil all year and don't look it but their wives look good. You'd hear men brag like, "The way to know I have money is by looking at my wife". She embodies your wealth but you don't look it?

She doesn't get you gifts or care for you. You have to pay for everything? Even I tell women at first intimacy that I like being spoiled with gifts and taken care of. It scares some away while some remain. That's pruning.

If I have #100, ma'am, I'm not giving you #80. Not even #50. Until I am sure there's a certain #200 on the way. I won't put myself in harm for you.

I'm not making myself uncomfortable when I am ill to please you like Akeredolu. We both know, the kids are more under your spell than mine so you are leading them on like Emeka Ike's.

I won't even be with her if she's the type to sit back. Joe, women have money to spend and care as long as you set a standard they must adhere to.

The only female I got a gift this Christmas is the one who consistently has been caring and spoilt me. She even reciprocated with a gift. Others who didn't get me something for Christmas got nothing from me. NOTHING. I even told one bluntly who came visiting and asked for a gift hours ago.

Most men didn't get any Christmas gifts from women but they they have spent money getting gifts for the same leeches. Putting yourself first sometimes means self-respect and dignity.

Women look out for themselves first by default. Study how women think and follow them accordingly. Men should put themselves first.

Today's woman has evolved to be more selfish. Today's man must learn to evolve to make himself a priority.

This is some serious post that needs to be debated
