There must be a way to hound those people and physically put them in prison to suffer without privileges. If not, we will only shout on social media and those people will still walk free or at most get like 2/3 years in jail when they ought to use life in prison.

So after paying from their naira reserves, how do they replenish their naira reserves without dropping dollar for naira, and it's not like they close shop after selling their naira. Make it make sense

It's a two way thing.

Some people are paying naira here for the companies to help them with things like subscription, application fees and other kind of payments abroad.

Then those foreign guys drop dollars..... everything eventually balances as long as they have large influx of people on both ends.

So na so flutterwave and Cos be blocking dollars from reaching Nigerian banks thereby causing the Naira to crash against the greenback?

But I think most of the problems are from Nigerian banks, I have a lot of dollars in my forex trading account but I'm not allowed to do bank withdrawal of dollars even though I have a domiciliary account linked and from which account I transferred the money I used to start trading in the first place. It is same story if you want to withdraw dollars from Binance. Nigerian banks will convert the dollars into Naira, so that means Binance gets to keep my dollars while sending Naira into my account. You can't even transfer dollars from your domiciliary account into another account these days.

The stress is too much and they are expecting people not to look for apps that won't stress them.

I don’t see the difference, that $1,000 does not necessarily have to hit Nigeria.

That $1,000 triggered the payment of N1.2mil from a local bank in Nigeria to the intended recipient in Nigeria, thereby increasing the demand for Naira which would have helped the exchange rate of Naira if our monetary policies are right.

Also that N1.2mil would trigger economic activities in that region of Nigeria which would have otherwise be dormant. A bricklayer would be paid, a market woman will collect part of that money in exchange for garri, etc.

The situation is the same if the person brought the physical dollar into the country, they will go to aboki and aboki will go to his bank and get N1.2mil to give the individual.

The reason FG is not happy is because they want to be in custody of that $1,000. Why would anyone in their right senses give the FG $1 in exchange for N800, when they can get N1,200 across the street?

The thing sef dey one kind.
All these rubbish won't stop until we begin to hold our leaders accountable in real life.

All those TransferGo, TransferWise (Wise) etc are responsible. The dollar didn’t come.

Government should ban them.

Only companies like Moneygram, Western Union, Ria etc really remit dollars to Nigeria.

Greed too is k..1lling our people. They want to get money at black market rate and they are complaining Nigerian Naira is not better. Eating your cake and still trying to have it.

So blaming government failure on private individuals is the way then?

Not getting to the Central Bank takes the currency out of CBN regulatory control and makes the market volatile and put naira under pressure. If you leave.

The biggest pressure on the naira is corruption that doesn't allow businesses to thrive.
How about ease of doing business?
Power?
Insecurity?
Dollar earnings?

All these ones about CBN not being able to regulate is not the basic issue.
They are trying to avoid the major issue...all these ones stem from that one issue CORRUPTION.

If CBN does all the regulation, if CORRUPTION still thrives, everything is a Pure waste of time!

1. clearly you missed the part where I said there are different levels of toxicity. every family has there issues. There are some levels of issues or toxicity you dont want to be a part of. There is a former head of state who was alledged to have slept with his son's wife. why on earth would i allow myself of a family member to marry into that family?

2. The point here (and I say stick to the essence of this thread) is that a family is supposedly so toxic, the child has ex-communicated himself from his family...what more of a red flag do you need in life to know not to marry such a person?

3. You clearly do not understand human pyschology. The most important thing in life to change is character. it can be done and overcome but it takes constant effort and self awareness. In real life less than 10% of people will suceed. for me those are odds not worth the risk.

Like I said feel free to take the chance on a toxic person and let us know how you get on. Just dont come here writing stories about something you were warned against.

How I wish I can break this thing down to you....
You are coming back to some of my points and still somewhat drifting.

My underlying statement remains...

People can come from very terrible backgrounds and be good people.

Judging a person solely on his/ her background can be somewhat unjust to the fellow without first considering his own character.

Human beings are wired to easily discard people with terrible past/ background without considering their current position of a changed life.

Ex-communicating yourself from a family isn't an automatic red flag. You must find out why he/ she took such a decision...you would be shocked!

Finally, none of my statements said you could or should marry a toxic person. That's a disaster!

You are honestly moving around my thoughts but not plugged in.

Oga keep arguing with yourself. Next time you see a man or woman who has been abused by their parents or is from a toxic family, feel free to marry them and keep telling yourself they are not toxic but it was the environment……whatever you see you see.

In Africa we say ancestral curses because we get headaches when we think. The truth is you only know what you know and by age 7 your character is formed and difficult to change. For instance, There is a reason single mothers beget single mothers. They don’t know otherwise. They don’t like being a single mother but they have no compass of a stable 2 parent household. There is a reason victims of abuse become abusers themselves…..abuse is what they know. The majority do not break the chain because the majority of humans are not strong. This is why the Pentecostal church has so many customers.

There is a reason we do introductions in Nigeria. There is a reason in yoruba land our parents ask “ile wi lo ti wa”. Which house/family did he/she come from when you want to marry. Even ordinary friends our parents as kids will tell us don’t play with that child…often for good reason. They knew what we didn’t know and which they could tell us because we were too young to understand.

Abeg leave me in peace.

See your earlier comment:
"You can’t run away from who you are. We are all toxic in our own ways. The difference between people who label their families toxic and others is that some learn to deal with it and keep their family problems in house others tell the whole world.

Like they say there are many mad men roaming the streets but you don’t know because they are all wearing suits."

Going through this and the one you posted above
"Next time you see a man or woman who has been abused by their parents or is from a toxic family, feel free to marry them and keep telling yourself they are not toxic but it was the environment……whatever you see you see."

You have arrived at a conclusion that everyone has experienced some toxicity growing up.
If so, how come people are getting married every day with all of these toxicity?

Isn't it suggestive to you that many people hide the pain and maybe never deal with it?

No matter the investigation you do about a family, toxic traits are usually regarded as human flaws in Nigeria..we say nobody is perfect. Expect for a few cases where the toxicity is too much....that marriage will hold sir.

Character is not difficult to change at 7 years old sir. That's an age that's still good for reshaping and remoulding. A mere 7 year old kid?
Even teenagers can be changed....

See, I am not saying there are no families with very toxic traits, my point here is the moment one member of that family decides to break free from the toxicity, he/ she must be ready to first cut off from the environment that formed that toxicity. SIMPLE.

It's also not entirely true that the chains of negative patterns in family don't break because the people are not strong. It doesn't break because they haven't found an environment where their strength is nurtured to overpower the toxicity.

See bro....make we just leave am here....

Like they say there are many mad men roaming the streets but you don’t know because they are all wearing suits.

It is when you hear someone else’s story that you know you are not the only one with problems.

Let's start with the statement: 'You can't run away from who you are'

There's a difference between who you really are and who environment tries to make you.

The problem is: Do you really know who you are?
Toxicity isn't inborn. is it?

It's inherited from the environment. It's imposed and until one cuts it off, it will try to override someone.

When people label their families toxic and tell the world about it, know that:

They may have exhausted every known method of seeking resolution from their part to no avail.

They are fighting for survival

They are trying to cut off from the negativity to find themselves.

The reason some people don't share their families own is because they got help to heal from trauma or it could also be a coping mechanism while they die inside.

Still...you can't run away from who you are can only be true for one who has found himself outside of the negative influence of his/ her environment.

For others, they need to run from the imposed identity....RUN!!!

You're really funny!!! I will be a mad father to allow someone like you marry my son or daughter!! I'm not a father yet, but I will clearly advise my son or daughter against marrying someone like you! Gosh!!

You can't blame that guy. He was a victim of dysfunctional background. The reason you can't relate is because you are not from such.

I have come to understand in life that some people come from very ugly backgrounds and it will take a lot of help from God and godly counsellors to reverse effect of some psychological trauma.

Romance / Re: Would You Marry Someone Who Has Broken Ties With Their Parents? by BennyDGreat: 12:48pm On Jan 18

Like someone said earlier if you can abandon your parents you can abandon anybody.

As for your question about toxicity, even marriages become “toxic” If you cannot manage your parents “toxicity” and accept they are your parents, then when your marriage becomes “toxic” in your eyes you will walk.

Marriage is about responsibility not about convenience, if you are not responsible with your parents, you will not be responsible in marriage.

Finally if your parents are truly toxic, you are likely toxic yourself. The psychological damage to you is done and you can’t run away from yourself, so if anything it’s more reason one should avoid marrying someone who abandons so called “toxic” parents. It’s a clear advertisement that “I am toxic”.

As much as I want to agree with all you have said, cutting off from toxicity is a way to heal from the damage. That way, the individual can revert back to a state that matches his/ her preferred identity.

This topic is very sensitive. It's all dependent on the level of toxicity. There are some toxic parent- children relationship where for the child to heal, he/ she has to cut off for a long time to allow the healing process.

For some less toxic, it could be cutting off for a short time and showing up once in a while.

For a toxic marriage, it's best to sit down to communicate this clearly. If there's no resolution, they can separate for sometime while submitting to a marriage mentor/ coach who can spot out the individual issues and tell each one what to work on before they come back together.

So, managing toxicity in some instances require staying away and it doesn't mean the person is bad. He/she is only trying to get out of the hurt.
