Politics › Re: Sanwo-Olu Approves Recruitment Of 150 Firefighters by bentenny(m): 6:24pm On Jan 21
As much as this is commendable from the state governor,it's important to state it should go beyond recruitment!
Equipments should be made available and workers must be financially motivated!
We don't want to hear that they ran out of water or equipments to carry out their responsibilities effectively!
We also don't want to hear that the workers are owed salaries!

Politics › Re: Labour Party: Court orders INEC to recognise Usman-led EXCO, sacks Julius Abure by bentenny(m): 5:58pm On Jan 21
Sunnyshinylight:
Let’s stop pretending. In Nigeria, judicial independence ends where APC’s interest begins. Since 2023, almost every politically sensitive case magically finds its way to technicalities, jurisdiction, or “petitioners failed to prove” — always favouring the ruling party.

Show me one major APC electoral victory overturned by the courts. Just one. Nigeria has run elections since 1999, yet the judiciary suddenly believes INEC never makes fatal mistakes when APC wins. Amazing coincidence.
Opposition petitions come with evidence, BVAS issues, conflicting figures — courts reply with Latin grammar and dismissals. But when APC sneezes, injunctions fly at midnight. Justice is fast only when power is involved.
People shouting “judiciary is now fair” are joking.

This same system validated every 2023 APC win, cleared all qualification issues, and told Nigerians to “move on”. If that’s neutrality, then water is dry.

APC isn’t tired of controlling the judiciary — the judiciary is just better at hiding it now. In Nigeria, the law doesn’t bend for justice; it bends for whoever controls the centre.
Spot on!

Yelight:
Let's see how this goes, I'm sure Abure will still appeal this judgement.
If he ever attempts to approach the supreme court, after giving a judgement against him,he will be arrested from the supreme court and thrown into jail for making a mockery of an already disgraced judicary!

Not when Peter Obi has long left the party for Abure and his slave masters. Let them continue.
Yeah but this is also leverage on Obi's part in case Atiku decides to play a fast one!

DeltaBachelor:
lol. Long overdue. But the damage is done already
Actually, the LP can still be used as leverage for a comeback by Obi Incase Atiku decides to play a fast one on him!
Atiku knows the relevance of ADC is tied to Obi and the success of ADC in the forthcoming presidential election will depend on who gets the ticket!

Cherrybae:
I see Peter obi hands in this Judgement. Obi wants to return to Labour party hence he influenced this Judgement through the back door.

A party he obi recently resigned from, he wants to come back to same party.

A shame
It's called leverage!
Is it a bad thing to have a backup plan?😏
Atleast Atiku will forced or put under pressure either give Obi the ticket in order to maintain the relevance of ADC or watch Obi go back to LP!

As it should have been if we really hard a thoroughly independent judicary!
Why would a court be giving a judgement over a matter that has been sealed by the supreme court?
That's nigeria for you!

Secondly,he should ensure his words are accompanied with action by sending men to bayelsa palm to monitor the activities there!

anonimi:
We should also consider that the total package of US politicians is not multiple times that of soldiers and other government workers, like we have in Nigeria.

That wage gap, which was previously not as terrible, is the main reason why people japa to work for oyinbo governments at low level jobs that they would not touch in Nigeria.
In other words, funds go to people who deserve and work for it in US!

Stop the nonsense. They're treated better in US but not like kings. Many of US veterans are homeless,ok. I live here, for your information.

This problem is worldwide and should be addressed.
But US pays better!
A retired military personnel is paid 2000-4000 dollars as pension depending on their final rank!
A retired Nigerian military personnel gets 68-138 dollars per month as pension which most times is delayed!
An entry level soldier in the US pockets more than 2000 dollars per month while an entry Nigeria soldier get less than 75 dollars per month!
Politics › Re: Retired Soldiers Struggle For Food During Remembrance Day In Abuja (Photos/Video by bentenny(m): 1:36pm On Jan 16
This is why criminality will not stop in Nigeria!
How can retired military personnels be owed pensions for years?
Pension that isn't even enough to sustain them for 2 weeks!
Won't they be willing tools for kidnappers and terrorists?
Well unfortunately most if not all of them had at one point in time supported bad governance and today they are paying the price!
