I have always maintained that this rampant killings is as a result of the failure of our security structure where we operate a central system!
State and community policing that would solve atleast half of the problem should have been signed into law by lawmakers!
Why are the NA members wasting time or are they waiting for the country to burn before they do what should have been done years ago?
Decentralize the security structure and make it independent from the influence of political office holders including president and state governors!
Crime › Re: We Can Sneak Into Uromi Community Edo & Take Revenge – Families Of Slain Hunters by bentenny(m): 1:58am On Apr 06, 2025
This is what transpires when people reason from their behind!
Now let's assume they threaten to take revenge, don't they know their brothers in other southern states will become a target?
Their unguarded and stupid actions will lead to another round of retaliation which will claim more of their people!

Politics › Re: "He Is Doing Exactly What He Promised" - Peter Obi On Tinubu's Midterm Scorecard by bentenny(m): 2:19am On Apr 02, 2025
But where is the lie?
Tinubu boldly claimed on an interview with BB Africa that 'Former president Buhari had done very well and he will continue from where he stopped'
So far he is on track with that promise because Buhari met pms at 87 and increased by more than 250% before he handed over to Tinubu who increased pms by more than 600%

So Obi is absolutely right!
Tinubu has done very well!😃😃

U mean same Lienus that couldn't deliver anything good in Anambra for 8 years and ran away after leaving office?
If he didn't deliver in Anambra state,he won't be freely walking the streets of Anambra state!
Former governor Obaino cannot enter Anambra state without heavy security escorts!
If he was as terrible as being portrayed by APC sycophants,he won't have had a 98% victory in Anambra state!
Like he has always said including his interview on primetime Tv,the people on the streets of Anambra state will be a better judge to whether he performed well at anambra state or not!

Anyone no matter their political affiliations with atleast an ounce of common sense should be demanding from Reno OMockery evidence to corroborate his claims but as usual most if not all his audience both on nairaland and as his followers on X are filled with glorified an.alpha.betic clowns and educated sycophants!

Instead of allowing the dead to rest in peace, the likes of Reno are using it to play politics!
I'm not surprised that none of his followers have reprimanded him because that what they always do!

Reno I double dare you to provide evidence that Okupe begged Obi for funds and he refused!

When Yobe Youths recently Attacked 'Policeman From Southern Nigeria',Killed his 2 Sons burned his properties, what were the response of these emergency lovers of the north?
When herdsmen were using cattle to destroy people's farms and displacing owners from their land, did any of these northern folks say a word?
Politics › Re: Herdsmen Overrun Farm Settlements, Occupy Homes, Schools In Enugu’s Eha-Amufu by bentenny(m): 9:23pm On Mar 31, 2025
You will not hear any of these northerners or apc clowns condemning this!
If the people decide to kill just one of them, you will start to hear condemnation from northern politicians!

Sunday Jackson is a case study!

One Nigeria indeed!

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, state and community policing is a matter of urgency to prevent an impending war!

TRUTHaDDICTED:
Really? I pity for the level of foolishness in the head of all these Southern politicians. How many governors from the North ever condemned the frequent and incessant killings by these Fulani terrorists let alone coming to console with the family of their victims? I'm ashamed of the political slavery and servitude style of these asslicking stooges who call themselves governors of the South.
Was about to say this but you did justice to it!
Our leaders are glorified cowards who portray themselves as willing slaves to their arrogant masters!
How many times has Okpebolo visited families of victims that have either died or being raped by these rampant Fulani herdsmen?
But because armed hunters were killed which is most unfortunate and condemned, you start going to the state to obviously beg them!

Waooh
Amazing!
For more than 2 weeks, herdsmen have not only killed but chased out citizens from their communities in Benue,Ondo,Edo and Enugu but not even a single word from the house of reps speaker!
4 soldiers were killed by iswap and nobody was angry or demanded that the president becomes responsible in safeguarding his troops!
But hunters were burnt by a vigilante group in Edo state and the deaf can now speak!
The usually silent speaker suddenly found his voice!
Now the president is giving orders to the police to fish out the perpetrators of the mob attack!
Even the governor of Edo state that can hardly pronounce figures in his budget presentation is now reading the riot act on those who partook in the killing of the hunters!
But where was he when people were being kidnapped and herdsmen were having a field day in communities?
So I guess there are some regions that seems to be operating in a different rule book from others!
One Nigeria indeed!

Crime › Re: Mob Kills 16 Travelers In Edo Over False Kidnapping Allegation by bentenny(m):
Not trying to justify the unpardonable actions of the mob but after enduring long periods in the hands of kidnappers, herdsmen and the obvious complicity of the police force, they decided to take matters into their hands!

Unfortunately, this has led to the loss of lives who may probably not be kidnappers!

This is why there should be an immediate priority on restructuring and decentralizing our policing structure and also ensure their independence!

This will ensure effectiveness and accountability from the police and bring back the people's trust!

Rebelutionary:
You keep coming back pointing at the problems that is obvious and I asked you a simple question to simply tell how else you intend to push for the change in your "no patience mode" that is revolutionary and unfortunately you are rehashing the same ol' same!

Can you in all honesty say those solutions are novel? That you seem to believe that they are magic wands that haven't been or are not employed before beats me.

I want and believe that change will come but CHANGE TAKES TIME atleast like I said we were not where we were in 1999, that you can't dispute.

Can it and should it be waaaaaayyy better than this? Of course!

But....those tools you mentioned take time to yield fruits!

Talking about (voter) education alone: no offence to the North but do you know how lacking the education system in that part of the country is? Do you know how long it will take to get through to the actual voters in the rural areas? Mind you, this isn't just about election but about a consciousness!

Are we going to bring aliens from another planet because we want instant revolutionary change. In 25 years time it will still be you and I that will get voted into places of power and in a complex arrangement like Nigeria where policies are policed through diverse lenses, these things take time.

Let's be clear on one thing, I share your pain but I choose to be realistic while remaining optimistic because there is nothing new that we are saying or Grok has dished out that the likes of Gani Fawehinmi haven't said. Do you know how long ago that is?

I wish you and Nigeria well!

Have a blessed day!
I gave you practical and realistic solutions but you are doing the same thing you are accusing me of!

So let's wait another 25 years for the north to get educated before we can proceed with voter education?
😆😆

All these flimsy excuses are reasons why we are moving at such a snail pace while other countries with more population and less education like India have gone very far!

Well I have done my part to portray what is needed for our electoral system to be better!

It's up to the citizens mostly the youths to push for these important amendments to be made without delay because we urgently need a transparent process that ushers in the right person into office!

I rest my case!

Happy weekend!

Isn't that why we elect the people we elect to make our demands know or how else do you suppose you go about "demanding for your most basic necessity"?

My position on patience is that "slow progress is better than no progress" atleast we are not where we were in 1999 but pray tell what's your idea of "no patience"!
Can you tell me in all honesty that those elected into current leadership positions were through a transparent process?

There are some ways to make such demands...You demand for your basic necessity by raising awareness which is educating the public about the importance of the amendment through social media, town hall meetings, and other platforms.
Another option is collaborating with civil society organizations, community groups, and influencers to amplify your message.

From 1999 to date, has any of the amendment to the electoral law provided a free and fair election?
Why do we have voter apathy?
Is it connected to electorates not trusting that their votes will count?
So after 26 years, where is the slow progress?
Has it eliminated ballot box snatching?
Maybe we should wait for another 25 years for the lawmakers to amend the simplest of tasks which to remove the power of the president to select and appoint INEC officials!
Unfortunately, the slow progress you are celebrating is no progress!

Atleast you and I will agree that Nigeria is not your ideal arrangement that is why despite all talk, "patience" is what we preach!
Nigeria is not 'our idea arrangement' because we have been too patient to allow them have their way and it has now become a norm which must be corrected if we really what to see any semblance of a progressive country!
If we must get things right in Nigeria,we must start by demanding for the most basic necessity which is the right to vote in our leaders through a transparent process that everyone will be pleased!
We must demand a change of our current security system that has contributed to the avoidable deaths of citizens!
The more we are patient, the more they take us for granted!

Sure and the main point of my submission isn't that they are not new but that Rome wasn't built in a day and that we see gradual reforms taking place in that direction.

Let's give it time!
We have had more than enough time!
These recommendations are not entirely new!
They have been there long before Buhari became president!

Amending the electoral laws is a matter of urgency as it determines the kind of leaders that will be incharge in the future!

Take for instance, the recommendation of removing the power of the president to select and appoint INEC officials including the chairman is a matter of swift attention and amendment!

The present act can be likened to English club mancity being given the power to select their referee and that of their rivals! We all know what will likely happen at the end!

The longer we tarry, the more we keep electing politicians that are not meant to be in leadership positions!

Nothing stated here is "new" and we have seen certain moves done in line with this like the recents bills on election petitions been sorted before swearing, petition ending at the appeal court, same day election for all positions etc. Though not everything is captured but it is a good step in the direction.

The part where the AI suggested a phased roll out is key but alas we want everything done at once...hmm

It will take time but we will get there and it doesn't mean that it would be a perfect system either considering the complexity of this country.
As much as these measures as suggested by Grok isn't entirely new,the idea is to reinforce their immediate importance to redefining and reshaping our electoral system in order to have a process close to a free and fair election with less litigation and more trust from the electorates!
