ZombieDredd:The equipment used to convert the raw materials finished products need energy. The bagging needs energy Do you have access to consistent and affordable energy or do you use an alternative which is very expensive? When you are done with the bagging, you need to transport these products....last I checked, transport cost is over the roof. The manufacturing company will be taxed by 10-15 different government agencies. All these that I have mentioned will be inserted into the production cost. |
lionshare:This isn't an assumption but a reality that we all will have to face. Local producers don't have the needed edge because the cost of production is too high. There is inconsistent electricity Exorbitant taxes Extremely high transport cost Insecurity Lack of competition as only few companies are managing to produce locally. Have you wondered if dangote would also have to compete with another cement company selling less? If we fix our problems, the prices will drastically reduce. |
Bizibi:Exactly. The manufacturer attaches all these humongous expenses including cost of purchasing alternative source of energy and reflect it on the pricing. |
Onewazobia:You may have cheap labour but without consistent and affordable access to energy, without lower transport cost, without exorbitant taxes and lack of competition, prices will not reduce and more people will purchase imported products as it's far cheaper than that of local producers here in Nigeria. |
Forumobserver12:You have spoken of one of the country's biggest weakness which is massive. The next is the way and manner locally producers are heavily taxed! Transport cost is very high in Nigeria. Lack of competition implies the few that are remaining are taking advantage of their monopoly. |
It's about production cost. The cost of locally producing a single item in Nigeria is extremely expensive compared to other countries around Nigeria. This is why most imported products dominate the Nigerian market despite humongous taxes on such products. |
I have a question for the so called Arewa Youth Consultative Forum President? When last did he add his voice to the current onslaught by Boko Haram on the north? Has he ever criticized bandits for the devastating carnage on his own people? Or is he a Boko terrorist sympathizer? |
The moment you hear groups gathering in solidarity for a personality just know that there is truth in the allegations levelled against that person. The damning evidence released thus far by VDM warrants an independent investigation. |
This is by far the weakest safeguard I have ever seen. I always knew this would happen. This guardrail will likely be subjected to different interpretation from both governor and president depending on their relationship. |
I knew they would backtrack. It's their MO. They introduce a policy without engaging key stakeholders and then withdraw when their policies get rejected. |

BlackPantherxXx:Everything you just poured out on this latest comment embodies your current state of mind! It's obvious you are in severe pains. It's quite clear that you comment & use your alternate monikers to like it. It's also unfortunately to see that you need to be pitied! I just want one request from you..... 👇👇👇👇

BlackPantherxXx:You are obviously informing me about what you are already used to doing on nairaland platform. Commenting on one moniker and using other monikers to like it ![]() |
ijayalolo:Firstly, its obvious you cant comprehend simple english and this is quite obvious with your lenghty epistles The entire apparatus or structure of the LGA election is under the control of the state governor, hence the governor can determine who becomes an LGA chairman without holding an election. The President also has some level of control over INEC through appointment of INEC officials including the chairman. However, unlike the state electoral commission that is totally controlled by the state governor, the same is not totally applicable to the president primarily due to the spotlight and humongous engagement of such elections under INEC. Secondly, at the risk of sounding like a broken record for people like you who lack the basic requirements of comprehension, the Nigerian constitution ensures there is basically little or no election at LGA as it has empowered governors to have total access over the apparatus of the state electoral commission hence determine who becomes chairman. If you still can't comprehend my comments at this point, don't worry, you can either send my comments to an app that coverts words to your local language for easy assimilation or simply enroll in a proper adult education night lesson and this time around, complete your English language classes. |
@sammy4joy 'Share' nor be 'Unlike' oh😂😂 |
So data boys are jubilating over an LGA selection and using it as a basis to imply thats how Tinubu will win the 2027 elections. This is not only hilarious but unfortunately unreasonable! Even a novice in politics knows that state governors have unlimited access and control over the state electoral institution and determine who becomes LGA chairman years before Tinubu became president. So it's surprising to see APC data boys rejoicing over this result.😆😆 What most if not all Nigerians are interested in is the presidency, national assembly and gubernatorial elections. So anyone hoping this same playbook in the LGA selection will replicate itself in very important election is just trying hard to deceive themselves. |
NaijaphiliaBlog:13 faceless monikers with different accounts will vote Tinubu😂😂😂 Walahi una nor wise. |
ijayalolo:Once again just like your colleagues, you have regurgitated epistles with zero reasoning! Based on the 1999 constitution, state governors are in 'total control' of the entire state electoral facilities and processes and do not need an election to declare who the winner is! The LGAs are handpicked. In a nutshell, nobody votes in any LGA election. So this stale and unintelligent narrative of governors controlling the grassroot as reason for the overwhelming victory is not only laughable but pure ignorance! Make no mistake,Tinubu is incharge of INEC based on the constitution. The only reason why INEC still holds some sort of independence is due to the spotlight on them as they determine sensitive elections like the president, national assembly and gubernatorial elections. |
BlackPantherxXx:You are the very epitomy of what you are describing! Indeed, misery loves company!😀 |
Parachoko:Atleast there is still one person that has some 'sense' remaining in that camp. |
BATified2023:Like I said before, ignorance is bliss among data boys. A careful look at the 1999 constitution that setup the state electoral commission will clearly show that the state government is the one directly incharge of the LGA election. This is why I said there is no election as LGA chairman are simply selected. If there was an election, where are the result sheets for each LGA? Same cannot be said about INEC who despite being under some level of control by the FG still have some semblance of independence. Despite being given an inferior Android phone for your propaganda job, there still exists apps in that phone that can enlighten your obviously blocked encepthalon. |
BATified2023:Most of you data boys type with so much ignorance even when you have a device that can properly enlighten you. Even a half smart person knows that there is nothing like LGA election in Nigeria but a selection from the state governor. A state governor determines who becomes LGA chairman not the citizens in those LGAs. |
Isn't this another way of increasing our of school children? This administration will introduce an increase without due consultation with the right stakeholders, when it receives criticism, they later suspend. |
Bluna:There is a reason why umahi is asking for Obi and not Sowore. |
Sirseedorf:If e sure for umahi, make him pick form....nah Tinubu go first use EFCC chase am😆 |
Chai chai diaris God oh🤣🤣🤣 |
This isn't news worthy nah What's going on with nairaland these days? Wetin concern us with person way dey change her age every time she yawns? |
No matter the whitewashing and damage control,we will never forget Gbajabianini gate😎😎
