Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has disagreed with his Edo State counterpart, Godwin Obaseki, on the federal government’s palliative measures for cushioning the effects of fuel subsidy removal. SEARCH Naija News Naija News NIGERIA NEWSTinubu Govt’s Palliative Measures Not Fraudulent – Soludo Disagrees With ObasekiPublished 5 hours ago on 24 August 2023By Olugbenga Ige Kindly share this story: Tinubu Govt’s Palliative Measures Not Fraudulent - Soludo Disagrees With Obaseki Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State has disagreed with his Edo State counterpart, Godwin Obaseki, on the federal government’s palliative measures for cushioning the effects of fuel subsidy removal. Naija News earlier reported that Obaseki, while speaking with journalists in Benin City on Wednesday, described the federal government’s palliative concept as deceptive and fraudulent. He also expressed shock and fear about the federal government’s inability to plan and effectively respond to the effects of the fuel subsidy removal policy that has further improvised Nigerians. But in a chat with Leadership on Wednesday, Soludo, through his media aide, Christian Aburime, said the federal government’s palliative measures were not fraudulent, and they are capable of cushioning the effect of the fuel subsidy removal. Soludo asserted that the recent palliative measures will at least begin to ameliorate the suffering of the masses until a long-term solution is provided. The governor also urged Nigerians to embrace the measures, adding that President Bola Tinubu meant well for the country. He said, “The recent palliative measures by the federal government will at least begin to ameliorate the suffering of the masses, especially the most vulnerable group in the society. “We believe that Mr President meant well, and everyone should support him in the quest to make the country a better place for all Nigerians.” |

IconicR:Obi did not conduct local government election in 7years of 8years he ruled Anambra. He was the worst governor in his set. Soludo made us understand that his investment in Anambra was a colossal waste. In a saner clime, he would be barred from contesting any position in the country. But some hopeless nattering dingbats see him as what I don't know |

Former Petroleum Minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke, has been charged with bribery in the United Kingdom. According to Reuters, British police said they had charged her with… According to Reuters, British police said they had charged her with bribery offences, saying they suspected she had accepted bribes in return for awarding multi-million-pound oil and gas contracts. Alison-Madueke, 63, was a key figure in the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan. She served as petroleum minister from 2010 to 2015 and also acted as president of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). “We suspect Diezani Alison-Madueke abused her power in Nigeria and accepted financial rewards for awarding multi-million-pound contracts,” said Andy Kelly, Head of the National Crime Agency’s (NCA) International Corruption Unit. “These charges are a milestone in what has been a thorough and complex international investigation.” The NCA said Alison-Madueke was accused of benefitting from at least 100,000 pounds in cash, chauffeur driven cars, flights on private jets, luxury holidays for her family, and the use of multiple London properties. Charges against her also detail financial rewards including furniture, renovation work and staff for the properties, payment of private school fees, and gifts from high-end designer shops such as Cartier jewellery and Louis Vuitton goods, the NCA said. Since she left office she has been dogged by corruption allegations but denies the charges. British police said she was currently living in St John’s Wood, an upmarket area of west London, and would appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on October 2. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had made many moves to extradite her but its request was blocked. |
