Tatiana4u: See where they placed the so called weena! What a tragedy! Tueh! I don't think they placed Mercy in a bad position, I even think she, Mike and Venita are the best placed because their portraits are bigger than the rest of the HMs, then followed by Frodd, Omashola, Tacha and the rest. Mercy's portrait is actually the largest amongst Mike, Venita and her. |

I really don't know if they are still together but I'd like to believe they still are and I hope they still are together. I love their combo. I think they are still together but they are just being secretive about it and keeping their relationship off the public's eye |

Dark Knight 9/10.
So, I watched this classic again for the umpteenth time last night on DStv. This movie espouses the words - a fine wine gets better with age. When it first came out, I rated 7/10. But the more I watch the movie, the more I realize the movie was wonderfully made.
The cinematography, visuals, casts, storyline, and dialogues were close to perfect. Nolan delivered a masterpiece in directing and Heath Ledger was perfect in his rendition of the Joker character. His death might have played a part in him getting that Oscar, but TBH, Heath was flawless as a Joker. He was so good, he'd make the viewer fall in love with the Joker. His ruthlessness while having fun was a joy to watch. And his crimes were planned and timed to perfection. He was just ahead of the law.
JP was just as great in his portrayal of the Clown Prince of Crime, but there's just something "swaggalicious" about Heath's that places him above JP and second only to Nicholson.
I'm going to download the movie again in 1080p and save it in my HDD. This is one of the few superhero movies that doesn't rely solely in action scenes but a great well-scripted storyline!! |

mekaprime: Nothing would die. Even in dispora, igbos promote our culture, language & heritage by organizing cultural festivals once in a while.
Culture cuts across a whole lot of things. Marriage, food, dressing, language, burial, festivals etc. saying culture would die is a very laughable notion. cc: Beorn it's been nice debating alongside you sire, but i can't take this anymore, am out. whitelotus: But unlike ignorant christians, ignorant atheists do not have a book that praises and backs their ignorance. I can't believe that last night you agreed and preached live and let live to your fellow atheist and right after that, cosigned his post that called me a hypocrite but here you're getting salty Christians chose to believe in Bible which doesn't stop you from breathing. I'm done with you. |

whitelotus: Lol...Beorn, come and see your igbo brother.
How can you be defending foolishness in the name of spirituality and tradition? The people from Wuhan China have been buying eating live animals for centuries but mutations happened and now, they got a powerful virus.
That people did not get viruses in the past from the cave is no guarantee that they wont get in the future. Bats are disease carrying creatures. There are already cases of bats giving people viruses in other West African countries.
Doesn't your bible tell you not to tempt God? You are tempting fate with that cave I hope you know though that there is no certainty that Covid-19 originated from bats? You can make your own research and see that scientist are not yet sure it was gotten from bats or any animal to begin with. |

You cannot be using good christians to cover up for bad christians
It is like when muslims point out good muslims to cover up the work of terrorist muslims. I'm not covering up for anyone, but there are enlightened and unenlightened humans across all divides and creeds and tribes. |

whitelotus: I already knew the traditions of my forefathers long before the white man. I dont know what the hell you are talking about. Do you think I grew up outside Nigeria to white parents or something? Are you mad?
You cannot escape the fact that christianity is a foreign religion used to colonise and enslave blacks. That is a painful fact that will never change. I'm not mad, it seems like you are coz you're suddenly all up in your feelings instead of answering the question I asked you. I didn't say you don't know the traditions of your forefathers, rather I asked you why you didn't return to the traditions of your forefathers after a white man's words got to you. You were a Christian, a white man insulted you and instead of returning back to the original beliefs of your forefathers as a middle finger to the white man or as an emancipation from white slavery, you ditched your forefathers' beliefs as well to be an atheist. It doesn't add up. Cool story, anyway. |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Beorn: 11:08am On May 05, 2020 |
whitelotus: False. It is about percentages. What percentage of atheists were in the protest?
There are atheist organisations in America. The American Atheists, Atheist Alliance etc. None of them supported such rallies. But churches and evangelicals were are the forefront of protests. Theists are more in percentage than atheists normally. So, how you'd expect atheists to be more in percentage? Besides, coz people protesting are mainly religious people doesn't mean no atheists were there. Did you interview the multitude personally to know all were religious? |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Beorn: 11:05am On May 05, 2020 |
whitelotus: I actually try not to bring religion into this thread. I only talk about religion when it is used to analyse movies in this thread. I respond, I never actually actively bring religion into this thread.
Trying to paint me bad will never work as a defence for your religion.
Furthermore, I only ever insult people when they are either being purposefully block-headed or aggressive- especially when they insult first.
Also, most homophobia is steeped in religion. That is why when the gay topic comes up, I always bring up religion.
Lastly, mockery and well directed insults work on some level. Do you know how I left christianity? I LEFT CHRISTIANITY BECAUSE A WHITE MAN CALLED ME A SLAVE. A SLAVE TO A RELIGION THAT ENSLAVED MY FOREFATHERS. I told the white man that he is a no-good racist and left. But even long after, the pain of being called a slaved stayed with me. Being a curious person, I did my research on religion and slavery.......you know how that ends..... Story for the gods. So, after the white man called you a slave to a religion that enslaved your forefathers, why didn't you go back to the traditions of your forefathers if that's the reason you left? Rather, you left religion all together, ditching even that of your forefathers coz you got emotionally hurt. |

TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Beorn: 10:58am On May 05, 2020 |
whitelotus: The point is that the bible does tell christians rubbish about atheists and unbelievers and there are enough christians to carry out these rubbish in real life. The fact that there are sensible christians does not undo the harm that thousands of ignorant christians will do to the public.
The christians in America that still went to church and went on protest (the conservative right in america is mostly christian) will or have already contributed to the spread of coronavirus in America. But someone like you will come and mention the good christians in America as a defence. And no atheist protested in American and joined other theists in spreading the disease. Na only Christians protest? Stop making it about Christianity. Misinformed people, both religious and non-religious were guilty of protesting. Everything to you na war against religion. SMH. |

mekaprime: You deserve one chilled bottle of beer for this. Exactly what i told him, it's punishable by death or if there were lenient enough, the 2 individual involved would be poured ash & made to walk nude in the market place, after that they'll be banished & their families had to undergo rituals to cleanse the land. When I told him he knew not what he was arguing on, it seemed as though I was insulting him.
Though, we still have a form of homosexual marriage amongst women that was accepted & deemed ok & it's still practiced even now Jerome doesn't have deep knowledge about Igbo culture, so it's not going to be easy trying to enlighten him about Igbo traditions. |

JeromeBlack aka Whitelotus, this one is for you... https://www.nairaland.com/5835712/strange-satanism-bill-gates-renoShebi, Reno Omokri is a Christian? Did you see him calling Gates and Belinda satanic? Yet, you're quick to use the blabbermouth FFK as a mouthpiece for Christians. I didn't know of this thread when I supported Gates and typed something similar yesterday before the thread hit FP this morning. This is to show you that not all Christians believe non-believers are demonic. Once upon a time, polio vaccines were rejected and seen as evils, today all parents want it for their children. That's the same way some ignorant people like FFK will rally against Covid-19 vaccine if it's out, believing some dumb conspiracy theories, but las las, then go still take the vaccine. |
TV/Movies › Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by Beorn: 9:44am On May 05, 2020 |
whitelotus: Furthermore, homosexuality has never been an issue in Nigerian cultures. It was ignored. If you dont believe me, kindly tell me the punishment for homosexuality in your igbo culture if it were criminalised I wanted to talk about this last night but I forgot. The reason why homosexuality has not been an issue in our culture is because back in the days of our great grandparents, you dare not come out as a gay. Them no born you well to because of the inhumane punishment or even death that awaits you. We are talking of traditions that birthed caste system. Traditions that supported killing of twins. Cultures where humans are used as sacrifice, etc. Even then, having sex without getting married had its consequences. How much more do you think that a gay person would suffer? They chose to remain in the closet for fear of what would befall them. It's modern times that gave more liberty to homosexuals to come out of the closet. |
