oyetpel:The first one was okay that's why I even bothered to read the reviews of the second one, and they were terrible depression-inducing reviews. This time around, I won't bother to even read the reviews of the third installment, I'll just jump and pass. Ps: Be careful of more recent movies of old worn-out stars like Van Danme, Bruce Willis, Syvelster Stallon, Schwarznegger and their ilk, they're usually very mediocre movies. |
Ishilove:You must be a hopeless romantic person, for you to have to watch that complex movie and was more focused on the romantic subplots instead of the more complex storyline of the movie. You're weird. ![]() Koicë was the one that recommended it BTW. |
stonemind:LMAO. ![]() When Oyetpel came online about three days ago talking about this movie, I immediately replied him with. . . . Beorn:I had already read the reviews and all were negative, so I knew I shouldn't download it till people on here gave it a positive review. This is one of the reasons you'd endeavour to check out ratings before downloading a movie. Take heart. ![]() |
KoiceReloaded:Exactly!! They were just looking clueless. They had no single pattern of play. Like their coach had been on holidays and had taught them nothing. They're just all over the place with no tangible plan. |
Ishilove:None that I can remember, and that's the animal Nigerians hinged their hopes on. SMH. ![]() |
KoiceReloaded:Yes, they are averagely talented, but a top coach knows how to bring out a tactic to make his players tick. He knows the right substitutions to make and the instructions to issue out when they're on the back foot. Take Iceland for example, they're not as talented as Argentina or other top teams, but their coach have found a way to instill a collective fighting spirit in them. Those lads have a never say never attitude and they defend like their lives depend on it. That's how to defeated a more talented England team last Euros. Through determined defending and swift counter |
KoiceReloaded:Lol. I think the talent is there, but the coach is clueless on how to make them showcase it. |
Ishilove:A pig predicted that super chickens will reach the semi-final. The pig is akin to Paul The Octopus that predicted correctly people that would win matches during South Africa 2010. |
KoiceReloaded:One key thing to note about the Super Chickens - they always disappoint. Useless team. |
Ishilove:Mehn, our boys have tried but they just lack that cutting edge to penetrate Croatia's defence. They tend to flatter when they reach the 18 yard box of the Croatians. I just hope the prediction of the pig turns out to be true and we make it out of the group stages. |
Ishilove:No way. I for don strangle Koice tey tey while in the womb. ![]() |
oyetpel:I don't give a fûck even if they turn Thor to an all-female cast, I must watch it and hopefully enjoy it. How MC chooses to direct their movies is none of my business, but I'm still insisting that calling a female, Thor is dumb. Thor is a name of a person not a title given to whosoever wields the Mojlnr. |
oyetpel:Not again. I'm not against female Thor, I'm against calling her the name Thor. Have I been typing in French all these while? Let me use a layman explanation. You're Oyetpel, right? Now, if I'm a hacker and I hacked your account and start posting the nude pic of a Nairalander. She then reports you to the cops and after you were arrested, you proved beyond all reasonable doubts that you're hacked and you aren't the person. Will the cops say "it doesn't matter, we know you're innocent but since the hacker posted the nudes through Oyetpel, you're guilty and will be charged as Oyetpel for a crime you didn't commit"? They won't. They look for me and arrest me and register the name of villain as Beörn not Oyetpel. So therefore, if a new Thor emerges, she already had her own unique name before she defeated Thor and she'd called that name and GODDESS of thunder not Thor who's a GOD of thunder. |
Ishilove:I hope it's a favourable one? ![]() |
KoiceReloaded:You're very dogged, stubborn and unwavering. You never give up. I won't debate with you again, you sabi wear person down. I give up. ![]() |

KoiceReloaded:Changing it to a female in the comics deviates from the Norse mythology from when the character was sourced from. |
dahaz:She thought the walls doesn't have ears. ![]() |
KoiceReloaded:www.nairaland.com/attachments/7273183_thepoint_jpgc18b02487be8e9df19f242a2ca5d64df You're so way off point that it left me speechless for few minutes. How do I clarify this for you? 1. Those names you listed are names of humans/mortals, which are usually gender specific but can be used interchangeably by any gender. Joseph is a masculine name which everybody knows. It doesn't change to a feminine name just because a female is answering it. Same applies for Josephine which is a feminine name. No duration of "evolution" will erase the aforstated facts, not even in the next century or millennium. 2. Unlike humans/mortals, the names of deities/gods in religions/mythologies are specific and fixed. You'll never see any female deity named Sango. You'll never read that another female god was also called Amadioha. It's impossible. In short, apart from Amadioha, no other male Igbo deity bears Amadioha. But I can walk in into a school filled with people of my tribe and find both genders answering my name. Let me expantiate some more. Assuming MC creates a female character called Sango and turns it into a blockbuster movie, so if your grandson in FUTURE comes back home with an assignment in which one of the questions was: 1. Sango is a ____ name? A. Male B. Female C. Kid D. Non-binary Would you tell him to tick option D because one Hollywood director produced a female Sango movie? Koice, no fall my hand please. I hold you in high esteem. ![]() My my. This is embarrassing. I'm embarrassed for you. Were did I specifically mention mojlnr automatically makes one Thor? You're practically plucking fallacious fantasies out of thin air to make yourself sound smart. I said It's not feasible for TWO mojlnr to exist in the same universe and same timeline, or did I not? How did Odin Allfather come into this, abeg?? Mojlnr can only be lifted by someone who is worthy, and since Thor is the successor to Odin, he was worthy. Or are you unable to comprehend a simple grammar??Once again, you're missing the point. According the story dropped, Thor became unworthy of the Mojlnr and a female took possession of it and she became the new Thor. My argument is not about the "Mojlnr" that she will take, but the fact that she will now bear the name, Thor. I then told you with or without the hammer, Thor is a name given to him from birth and as such will be stupid for the producer to call a woman Thor who already had a name. Will SHE also be addressed as a GOD of thunder even as a FEMALE? Remember a female deity is addressed as a GODDESS. You see as you dey confuse yourself? I no know between you and the MC editor who dey confused pass. ![]() Hahahaha. This bruv is frigging confused no be smallThis is a classic case of grasping at straws, brother mi. All I see you doing up there is using semantics to wriggle your way out of the embrassing trap you've set for yourself. Superhumanist never specified it's Thor comic or MCU Thor. I even asked him for avoidance of doubt, if there's been a female Thor in the comics in time past in order not to blame the producers or shoot myself on the foot, and he said no. Be that as it may, whether MC Thor or MCU Thor, what difference does it really make? - Does the Thor in the comics have two heads while that of MCU has one head? - Does the Thor of the comics use pangolo to fight and strike while that of MCU uses Mojlnr? - Was it not the Thor in the comics that was brought to life in the movies? Or that Thor is different? - Where exactly do you think MCU gets their characters and storyline from if not from the comics? - So if the female Thor gets created at the comic level, can you bet with your balls that it will never make it to MCU? Or the MCU male Thor won't be killed off or relegated to a nobody to coincide with the comics? So, from your reasoning, the Thor in the comic will now be a female and will never be made into a movie while the MCU Thor will remain permanently as a male? Forever? LMFAO. You sound like the author of confusion right now.

kokaneprodigy:Check that screenshot more carefully, you will the "i" in the "island" is not the standard I but this "ì". Spot the difference. So, I think Kushercain is not wrong. |
superhumanist:I was disappointed that KoiceReloaded could think it makes sense to make Thor a woman. FFS, this is some people's beliefs/religion. How do you just change that? It's like making Zeus a woman. Absolutely preposterous!! |
Ishilove:It was on Nairaland FP, you probably missed the news when you're fighting those that post spoilers.
|
Ishilove:It makes no sense. Instead of preserving the culture that everyone knows, all in the name of gender representation (I'm guessing it may be why), they want to distort a solid origin. If they want a female-esque Thor, they have to change her name and come up with her own story. |
KoiceReloaded:How's Thor a non-binary name. Thor is described as the GOD of Thunder, not GODDESS of Thunder in the Norse mythology. He is the husband of the golden-haired goddess Sif , is the lover of the jötunn Járnsaxa , and is generally described as fierce eyed, red haired and red bearded man. It's not a gender neutral name. The name has only been associated with male deity, so saying a female can rise up and bear the same name is absurd. It's a name for a god not goddess, so I don't get how it's non-binary. Have you ever read a Norse mythology that lends credence to your postulations? There is nothing sensible in your postulations. Here's why:You're tying yourself in a tortuous knot of warped logic. Getting hold of mojlnr doesn't immediately make your name Thor. How could you even think this way? It's appalling. I least expected someone like you to think this way. Odin the father of Thor once had the Mojlnr before Thor took over? When Odin was in possession of it was his name, Thor? LMAO. So Odin was bearing Thor initially and chose the name Odin after Thor took over? When folktales had it that he gave birth to Thor and named him Thor from birth. Do you now see the folly in your assertions?OK, in Thor Ragnarok, after Thor's sister destroyed Mojlnr, did Thor's name change? It'd have changed since the hammer had been destroyed. Thor's name should have changed temporarily when his father banished him to earth and stripped him of his godly powers. Thor is Thor's name from birth. He's not named Thor because he's in possession of the Mojlnr. You are even contradicting yourself. You agreed they can only be one Thor, so if this lady takes the Mojlnr, Thor will now start bearing Chibuike, abi? And yet you have a problem with Thor becoming a woman? Do you not honestly realize just how contradictory you sound right now?Calm down and get my point. You're in a hurry to prove me wrong that you're missing the salient point. I'm all for a new concept, a new plot, even a woman being a Thor while Thor looses possession of the Mojlnr temporarily, but the woman should not be answering Thor. It's foolishnes of the highest echelon. With or without the Mojlnr, Thor remains Thor as already proven in Thor Ragnarok. It's his name. |
KoiceReloaded:The idea of Thor being a woman and still retaining the name is comical. If they wanted to steer the storyline to that angle, I have no problem with it, but it's only ethical to give the female Thor her own name, or maybe make it a spin-off with a separate name. Just like they have Superwoman and Supergirl different from Superman but from same planet. It's just common sense. Norms are subject to change, that's why I said I welcomed the idea of Ocean's 8 being an all-female cast, something refreshing but yet distinct. |
KoiceReloaded:Justice League or Batman vs Superman? |
superhumanist:LMAO!! The story alone makes for pure unadulterated comedy. I think MC are about to lose it. I get that they're trying to be creative, but this was unnecessary IMHO. It's better they take a break and come up with a better idea than this absurd idea. |
mekaprime:When Batman starts flying like Iron Man, it'll elicit mocking criticisms with people saying DC are now copying MC because they are desperate to be successful as MC. Iron Man was flying right from the comic books, so it's an integral part of him. Batman on the other hand doesn't fly and making him fly will look absurd. Getting a suit to make him more strong and fast like Black Panther wouldn't be bad, but to fly? That's too away from the norm. Superman: The legendary man of steel, the presumed alpha & omega of the DC world, and yet he got his ass handed to him & almost got killed by batman in Batman vs Superman. Abeg to me the kryptonite weakness bullshit is becoming very annoying. At the slightest sight of kryptonite, the dude melts and becomes as soft as a weakling. So are the trying to say he's never gonna subdue this weakness of hisEvery superhero has/should have a limit. We're talking about a man that could stop a bullet with his eye. How do you expect Superman movies to make sense when he's practically untouchable? I for one am of the opinion that one of the reasons why Justice League was average was because Superman beat the villain like a kid. It was annoying and preposterous. He just arrived onto the scene and beat the villain like a child. He couldn't even put up an effort at all like he did with the rest of the JL. We saw more fight sequences before Superman arrived, immediately he arrived, the show immediately ended. That's an advantage Avengers have over them along with superior storyline. A strong Villain like Thanos can give them a run for their money. You get to witness extended fight plots as the villains are not walkovers. |
superhumanist:You can't put it past Nollywood directors, I won't be surprised if it becomes a trend, they generally like to bend to whims and caprices of strong opinions to sound politically correct Also did you know that they genderswapped Thor in comics? Yes, Thor is now a lady. Sacrilegious! Are you kidding me? Is this not madness? What's their reason(s) for such a move? Pardon me, but I didn't follow these DC and MC Comics as a kid, so was there a time in the comics when Thor was a female? If there was, maybe they're just following the storyline. |
