johnime:Why did they ban you? Because of the accusation? If so, then I think you need to post those evidences there to clean up your muddied image/misconception about you and by so doing prevent future occurence. |
Hanseel1:I've watched all of them. Our ratings differs sha. Different strokes for different peeps. |
Ishilove:It's a damn shame reading the support of physical violence from some people on this thread over 200# eggs. Guaranteed that the lady was wrong, but to slap a grown woman over 4 eggs? It's preposterous. I'd have been mad over her action of disrespect and wastefulness, but I'd never have slapped her. If I can't stomach her act, I'll end the relationship. If people can't manage their anger over things like this, they have no business being in a relationship. I've said it over and over, if you can't stomach the bad attitude of your lover, quit the relationship. Relationship is not by force. This is how physical abuse starts. It's these little signs that people ignore which grows into an undefeatable monster. A lot of people need anger management in Nigeria. |
Iamgrey5:Best comment on this thread. |
KoiceReloaded:He has a history with Ishilove, so he's purposely spoiling the movie to rile her up. ![]() |
ola12:I haven't watched the animation, but in all my years of watching animations, none comes close to the emotions displayed by humans and not cartoon characters. |
ola12:I'm not. I'm not a kid and I watch animations. Old men with grandchildren do watch animations. But the fact is, while the message is not affected in animations, you can't compare the emotions from a human, the outpouring of tears, sadness and anguish that'd be displayed by a human to that of a cartoon character. There must be a difference. |
Bilal 7/10 |
JackBizzle:Exactly!! |
Ishilove:Angelina Jolie would've pulled off a masterpiece if he didn't portray the message in an animatiom form. Animating it took off majority of the pains and sympathy it would elicited from viewers. For better understanding of what I mean, watch the various animations about the crucifixion of Christ, then watch The Passion of Christ by Mel Gibson. The difference in both portryals is wider than the development between America and Nigeria. Animation is the worst genre to portray stories like that. Everything would seem fake. |
Ishilove:The message it was portraying was an expository one, exposing the harsh reality that women are going through in Taliban dominated areas. I praised the storyline and acknowledged the message made me give it a 6/10. But judging it in other parameters, it falls short of the level of Coco. |
oyetpel:The animation never had much hype, it's an old movie (last year), it's Ishi that made us watch it. |
KoiceReloaded:Ishi should be given a one week forum-wide ban for hoodwinking us. Like Orubebe, we will not take it!! ![]() |
KoiceReloaded:LMAO. 5/10 is the best rating for the movie. I added extra 1 point to it because I empathised with what ladies in those real life situations were going through. The animation is childish and doesn't hold a candle to Coco at any level. I never watched that movie based on Ishi's hype because when it came out last year, the reviews I read weren't encouraging so I refused downloading. I just decided to watch after Ishi rated it a 10 without expecting to be wowed. I deleted the movie right from my phone after watching, it never made it to my laptop for future rewatching. ![]() |
Ishilove:LOL. Like Olu4lyf already explained, I'd have given that movie a 5/10 if not for the fact that it's passing a message about the sufferings women are passing through in the war-torn, Taliban-ruled towns. If not for that touching message, the animation is bang average. The CGI is average, like those Christmas stories shown on our TV stations. For example, their fingers were in pointed forms, compared to Coco who beat it to the award, Coco was well-written, the musical score were on point, the CGI and everything was top notch. I found The Breadwinner kinda childish with the folktale the lady was telling her brother. The main message it's passing is insightful and touching, though. |
olu4life:My God!! Do you read minds? You took those words out of my thoughts, every single reason down to my rating of 6 for the movie before you, for the very same reason in the embolden. |
The Breadwinner. 6/10 |

Viking007:No vex. ![]() |
Cupidkc:Truer words have never been written. |
breadplanets:The pain and jealousy of watching another lady who cheated with her ex-husband in the past, reap all the efforts of her sacrifices and labour pushed her to that mental state. Thinking of how her ex will be making love to the new wife instead of her, watching her ex buy the yacht he promised her for his new wife drove her insane. Some pills are very bitter to swallow, especially when you're at the cusp of reaping massively only to realise you blew it at the last minute. It's painful. |
oyetpel:The happy ending and the way the plot all went down, was what ruined the movie and proved to me once again that Tyler is still an amateur director. |
Ishilove:I was totally dumbstrucked by that guy's assertions. Mehn!! |
Viking007:WTF?!! If the project wasn't a success with Taraji losing everything, it's still nobody's fault? Wow. You're heartless for typing that. |
Viking007:Easy for you to type because you haven't been in that shoe before. I bet you, the moment a lady you bought a car for with your inheritance cheats on you, that would be the end of that relationship. You won't ever take her back talk more of training her still, losing your family home, losing ALL your inheritance because of her while she refuses to get a job but rather choose to stay at home working a project that wasn't looking like a success for over 10 years. Very easy for you to type but you won't endure half of what that lady endured. |
Ishilove:Well said. The man's foolishness helped ruined her. If only he found a job while working on his project, Taraji wouldn't have lost her house or find an excuse to divorce him. He frustrated Taraji so much that she's quick to believe her sisters' story that her ex cheated on her again. |
newjosboy:You're missing something vital in the movie - she judged him RETROSPECTIVELY during her narration to the psychiatrist not when she's still a starry-eyed teenager in love. BTW, what do you call a man that came in the pretense of love, told a teenage Taraji all the lovely things to get her to fall for him, made her buy him a car only to lie shamelessly to her face and sleep with another girl? We're not talking about a toy car, we are talking of a real COSTLY car. How would you feel if a lady told you she loves you and made you buy her a car and then cheats on you, I swear you might lose it and do something drastic. Over the years I've read on the social media about men and women whining over little money they spent on an opposite gender and later felt cheated, talk more of a car. Despite all these, Taraji forgave him, supported him against her siblings' wishes, trained him in school, watched as her money left by her mom went down the drain while the man was toiling and wasting valuable time on a project that has failed more times than the crooks we called leaders. The man failed to get a job, what he'd have done while waiting for his big break. Taraji lost her family home because of the man's stupidity of not getting a job to support her. How many humans would support a man/woman like Taraji did? I can't do half of the thing Taraji did for a GIRLFRIEND, only for a wife. It's all these sacrifices and losses that the man considered when he got her back the house and settled her with a good amount of millions. He knew she lost a lot because of him. Taraji tried a lot and I don't blame her for leaving the man. Nobody knows tomorrow and I don't blame her for not knowing her ex-husband would hit it big shortly after the divorce. Every human has a limit. She's tried and seeing the purse of the lady he cheated on her with was the last straw that broke the camel's back. I feel for her, but she's wrong for her actions after the ex-husband settled her. She'd have moved on despite her hurt after realising the repercussions of her impatience and wrong judgement. What she'd have done was maybe ask for the ex to add more money for her citing her sacrifices, I'm sure her ex would've agreed to that because he's a good man. After that, she'd moved on and live with her regrets. |
newjosboy:How? Taraji showed excess support even to the extent of losing her mother's house. |
rawdpiper:Emotions and empathy aside, the lady was at fault. |
