I think the magic of every movie is most strongly felt in the first watch, which is why I rarely watch movies twice.

Well, except for Kung fu movies. I can watch those up to 5 times. grin

Speaking of martial arts, can anyone recommend interesting Kung films? Real ones o, not the kind where people can leap from Ikorodu to Apongbon crossing in a single bound.
Apart from Jackie Chan's movies, such kung fu movies are close to nonexistent. Good luck with your search. grin

Exactly. He might be this thread's Ogden Morrow with his vast knowledge in movies.

I think I will be watching A Quiet Place tonight. It seems like my kind of horror.
It's not even scary, but it's super interesting. The storyline is very refreshing.

Nah. I am as sincere as a blizzard on a cold Alaskan morning. The Shining is definitely scarier. Smart money is watching It Follows first to prepare yourself for the chills of the later.

Haha. You're such a p**sy grin grin
Lol. Since The Shining is more scary than It Follows, and I'm not going to watch It Follows first, it means I have so much balls as to go straight for the most scary between the two movies. tongue

Definitely. He knows... that's why he kept mum. He's nothing but a two-bit child kidnapper/raper/killer. But mehn, that old bat is one tough f**ker. Imagine being blind and yet such a threat. Every sense is heightened, and a slight breath of your nostrils will give you away. The name of the film is apt indeed: don't breath.
That's exactly why I was so happy he survived. It'd have really bad for the world to lose such a tough son of b*tch. grin cheesy How many old men can give young energetic young men such a thorough beat down? And he needs no night vision, the old bat sees well in the dark. LMFAO. grin grin His neck grip is off tha chains and he packs some mean pinches as well.

Your last sentence reminds of the alien creatures in A Quiet Place. I was comparing that old bat to them because they're blind as well but with heightened senosory nerves and auditory organs. Both Don't Breathe and A Quiet Place aptly describes the two movies and the villain therein . cheesy

Lolz... The Shining is an 80s movie, not a 70's movie... of course it's in technicolor!

The old bat didn't snitch out of self preservation. He has quite an ugly old skeleton hidden in his closet, remember? Snitching would have triggered an investigation, and the girl if found would have sang like a canary. Yeah, I was gutted too. Good guys finished last. The guy escaped but had to go back for the girl and never made it out again. Tough luck indeed.
I totally forgot that the old villain-turned-hero-in-my-eyes had a skeleton hidden in his closet. If the girl sings like a canary, the man is looking at a longer time in jail.

Koice, I'm definitely not watching It Follows. From the looks of it, it will scare me to my bones. I'll just manage and watch The Shining because it's a Stephen King novel with high ratings.

The Shining is one scary modaf**ka... right up there with The Ring. Try and watch it, and make sure you're alone and the light switched off for maximum effect. Hehe cheesy

Don't Breath is not your average kind of horror. It's a suspense-filled survival roller coaster - an haunting hunting. When you watch it, you'll see what I mean.

Mehn... better put your thinking cap on when you watch Cloud Atlas, because that movie will scatter your brain. I have not seen a more convoluted storytelling in my life. Geez...
Me watch The Shining alone? Lol. I'll never try it. The movie is over 2 hours and since it's a 1980 movie, it will be in black and white, making it more scary. No thanks. grin

Don't Breathe is a top notch horror movie. It's suspense filled and had my heart racing. That dog really scared the shît outta me more than the man. The plot is magnificent too. Seems like I'll branch into horror movies from now on. grin

I really loved how the movie ended and the man not snitching. She earned the right to walk away and have a better life. I was gutted for the guy who was killed lastly. Tough luck.

Don't Breathe 8/10

Lol, not that kinda scary to me though. Loved the plot.

I was even kind enough to give Proud Mary 4/10. Very crappy movie
You're right, it's scary but not the usual grotesque kinda scary with ghosts and mangled body littered everywhere. The movie is interesting and the plot is superb. Horror movies like this are worth watching. The man is a hero. grin grin

Ready player 8.7/10
I think it's a case of different strokes for different folks because Ready Player One is a solid 9 or 8/10 for me. Maybe because I'm a gamer too. While the Proud Mary someone up there rated above Game Night is a crap movie. I still regret why I watched that movie when it came out.

Proud Mary 3/10. I'm even being generous.

Kransiki, Blunt and Simmonds. Why do all of them bear different surnames?
You know Oyibo na, they allow their celebrity wives keep their maiden names while still married to them. As for the teen, she's their daughter in the FILM NOT IN REAL LIFE.

Edited : oops. I wrote their real names not their names in the movie.

Fun facts about A Quiet Place.

John Krasinski, Emily Blunt's husband in the movie is also her husband in real life.

Millicent Simmonds, their daughter in the movie, is also deaf in real life.

When I wanted to download the subtitle for A Quiet Place, I kept seeing 8kb, 4kb, 5kb. I was confused because subtitle files are usual around 20-something KB and above. Had to download over 8 subtitles and all were the same. I was disappointed. Then I decided to try it anyway while about to start watching the movie and hardly saw them speaking or the subtitle displaying due to no dialogue. Few mins into the movie the reason why the subtitles files were small hit me and I realised I was the one wrong all those while. grin

A Quiet Place. 8.5/10. Solid movie. Very captivating and wonderful concept.

A Quiet Place - 8.5/10

Cargo - 6/10 A slow movie angry

Fahrenheit 451 - 4.5/10 Makes no sense to me biko. And quite similar to Equilibrium (Early 2000s)
I knew both Cargo and Fahrenheit 451 were going to be mediocre especially Fahrenheit 451. Thank God I never fell a victim after extensively reading the reviews. cheesy grin

Not a fan of the genre either, but the SAW franchise is pretty special. It's an adrenaline pumping, grotesque lesson in the most creative and sadistic ways to maim and torture. It's pretty disgusting but fascinating in a f**ked up way. I mean, I often caught myself secretly wishing for dem sadistic contraptions to rip the victims apart even as I'm simultaneously hoping that they'd break free from their shackles. F**ked up, right? grin SAW does that to you.

That scene ehn! It's right up there with the moment Leo got shot in the head in The Departed. Completely expected and random.
It's not fuckéd up at all, the emboldened is 100% how I felt watching SAW. It gives you contrasting feelings; one minute you're feeling pity for them, yet you're eager to see how mangled the contraptions will leave their bodies looking like. cheesy

Other horrors that come close to shaking my cynicism are:
- The Shining (best horror ever... better than the novel)
- It follows (gave me the creeps. I often caught myself looking behind me absent-mindedly several days after watching it)
- Final Destination franchise (most creative and weird ways to die violently)
- Don't breath (the tension is so palpable it was as if I was there with those teens hiding from that blind mean modaf**ker)
- Get Out!(My goodness... words cannot describe my horror at this masterpiece. That twist is genius, I didn't see it coming).

If you haven't watch those, try and do so ASAP. They're clearly above the generic rest.
I've never heard of The Shining till now. Someone once gave me It Follows but I never watched it because I'm not a huge fan of horror. But I'm going to download and watch both movies hopefully before Tuesday next week.

I enjoyed Final Destination series. All of them. Final Destination series are probably the only horror movies I enjoy and look forward to the deaths in it because its creativity in the killing spree. grin

Bro, do you know I've had Don't Breathe for almost 2 years now in my laptop but everytime I keep procrastinating, saying I'll watch it the next day, at the end I never will. Same thing goes for Cloud Atlas. These two movies are on my laptop screen, but I've never been encouraged to watch them for 2 years own. I just checked out the rating of Don't Breathe and it's high. Positive reviews all round. I'm finally going to stop procrastinating and watch it tomorrow.

Get Out is nice, creative and not the usual run of the mill horror movies. Such horror movies are a joy to watch. The twist was shocking, especially when it's revealed the girl was among.

Feeling nostalgic so I have started rewatching the SAW franchise.

SAW movies might not be masterpieces (although the first one has a special place in my heart), but that scene when Jigsaw rose at the ending of the film was one of the best movie experience I ever had. This was a mindf**k... that he was alive and at such close proximity all along. I thought this made this movie kinda genius. One of my top WTF moments.
Even though I'm not a huge fan of horror movies, the moment I gathered enough morale to watch SAW back then, I never stopped till I completed the subsequent parts. It's one scary and grotesque horror that I came to love. I'll watch it again if someone gives it to me. And the scene you described was an epic WTF moment to me too. It took me by surprise. I was like WTF. Never saw it coming.

Have u watched d latest season of Agents Of Shield?

I'm a big fan of AOS but Dis particular season is nothing to write home about... Like they dont know Wot to act again. The way d season started was OK but these recent episodes are nothing to write home about...
After season 2 I quit AOS. It was getting kind of childish and I couldn't stand it. I won't be surprised if they scrap it anytime soon.

Another season that's looking childish is Blindspot but I'll watch it till whenever the season ends because I love the 4 major acts in it.
