Unemadu: Thank God for Sullivan. If he were that desperate like his predecessor, non of those Abuja fools flexing muscle will dare enter Enugu not to talk of contesting election. Ask Chi boy and he will tell you better. If Sullivan were that desperate, he will abandon all the projects and and move the whole money to Abuja to fight for Senate but he won't. He has a destiny with Enugu and he is determined to fulfil it no matter the provocation. I love Sullivan die. 12 Likes 1 Share |

Please something is bothering me. Why is it that church people do not obey town planning regulations? For example, the churches built within WTC close to UNEC gate. The All Saints church opposite trade fair complex, the deeper life church at Uwani. There is one church at Obioma by Agbani road. I can go on and name them. In fact, the pictures of church poster indiscriminately littering every where, posted by Spydder, reinforces my argument. Please shouldn't the church be salt of the earth according to the bible? Why are they the ones breaking the law? I don't mean to denigrate any church, it's just an observation. I could be wrong though. 3 Likes |

spyder880: The best thing is to name and shame them on the radio. In a sane clime, it could be a potent political tool to destroy your political opponent. A person using his poster to deface public property is not fit to hold public office because he/she is more of a vandal. But the government should also provide strategic points where people can pay little sum of money to post their adverts. It will be a means of revenue generation for the government. 4 Likes |

spyder880: Bros I lived at Rangers Avenue for 9 years. I left Enugu, soon after Sullivan took over office. Please tell me a single road devoid of pot holes in the whole of Enugu metropolis prior to 2007 with the exception of the dualized Chime Avenue and Ebeano tunnel bypass, and I will tell you about 15 roads that were pot hole ridden then. I argue with facts and when i don't have any, I keep quiet. 1 Like |

IGBOSON1: This is what happens when you embark on too many projects with little available resources. Now that politics is taking all the money, I doubt if anything is gonna come out of it soon. I wish they can at least tar the road that leads to the city for a starter. If they can also maintain a serious security presence there, it will encourage people to start moving there. Rome was not built in a day. Trans Ekulu took decades to be what it is today. 1 Like |

Bishop42: I hope you know what Enugu was like when the idea of building a mono rail was conceived. Road was non existent, and if Sullivan had proceeded with the project, I can assure you that we will not be on this thread today. Enugu gets just 3 billion naira monthly allocation and embarking on a project would that gulp hundreds of billions of naira would have been an exercise in futility and a misplaced priority. Please, has the River State governor completed their own. Don't forget that Peter Obi also wanted to build mono rail in Anambra State but also shelved the idea. Aside the cost, mono rail is not as efficient as it appears. Please make a little research on it. My brother, i was happy when I learnt the project was suspended. 3 Likes |

iconize: It was initially proposed but considering that there was virtually no good road in Enugu metropolis then, the idea was jettisoned and the money plowed into massive rehabilitation of roads. I liked the idea because the cost of building it was prohibitive and mono-rail has loads of problems associated with it as it requires constant power supply to run. It is always a big problem when it breaks down. Building mono rail in a city without good roads makes no sense. I think that was the best decision taken by Sullivan. 2 Likes |

TURKISH AIRLINES TO COMMENCE FLIGHTS TO ABUJA, ENUGU IN MARCH The government of Turkey said on Friday that Turkish Airlines would commence scheduled flights into the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja and the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu in March 2015. The Turkish ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Mustafa Pulat, made the announcement in Abuja when he paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Aminu Wali. Pulat said that direct Turkish airlines flights into more cities in Africa were part of a renewed commitment to strengthening Turkey-Africa strategic partnership. He used the occasion to invite Nigeria to participate in the second meeting of the Turkey-Africa Cooperation Summit, scheduled to hold in Malabo from Nov. 19 to Nov. 21. “Our president, foreign minister and minister for the economy are going to Malabo and we are doing this with the AU, which has promised to invite African countries, including Nigeria.’’ He said that Turkey was willing to contribute its quota to Africa’s development through strategic partnership. According to statistics from the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, trade volume between Turkey and Africa has increased more than tenfold in 13 years. The statistics indicated that trade reached $7.5 billion in 2013, up from $742 million in 2000. The envoy also extended his country’s invitation to Nigeria to participate in the upcoming meeting of the Committee of Social and Economic Cooperation in Istanbul later in November. The committee is a subsidiary of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation. The ambassador also solicited Nigeria’s support for Turkey’s hosting of the 10th conference of the World Trade Organisation, scheduled to hold in 2015. He expressed delight at the cordial economic and trade relations between both countries. Pulat, however, called for the conclusion of negotiations and signing of the Promotion and Protection of Investments Agreement between both countries to boost trade ties. The envoy said the agreement on double taxation was still pending and acknowledged that his mission had received a new draft from the Nigerian side. He told Wali that Istanbul was currently considering the draft of the agreement. According to him, several Turkish companies are willing to invest in the energy, aviation and housing sectors in Nigeria. Pulat commended Nigeria for containing the spread of Ebola but expressed surprise that his country was mentioned as one of the countries that were discriminating against travellers from Nigeria. He said there were few isolated cases when travellers from Nigeria were subjected to medical examination over concerns for symptoms of the Ebola virus disease. Wali thanked the Turkish Government for extending its national carrier to Kano, his home town and for opening more routes in Nigeria. He pledged that the ministry would continue to encourage the signing of more Bilateral Air Services Agreement as a springboard to encouraging more direct investment into Nigeria. The minister acknowledged that Turkish investments in Nigeria were visible in the tourism, power, education and health sectors, among others. He pledged Nigeria’s support to Turkey’s hosting of the WTO conference and assured the ambassador of Nigeria’s participation in the event. Wali also welcomed Turkey’s offer of defence and military cooperation with Nigeria in the fight against terror and insurgency. (NAN) 3 Likes 1 Share |

Bishop42: As a young person living with my grandma, our drinking water pot was made of red soil from Enugu. My secondary school buildings were made of bricks from the same place. I am sure many of us do not know about Akegbe Ugwu bricks industry, which manufactured the burnt bricks used in building most houses in Trans Ekulu years ago. I still do not have knowledge of any soil more fertile than the red soil of Enugu. That red soil na blessing oo. 3 Likes |

I wish Sullivan would disregard Chimaroke's shortcomings and complete the abandoned International Conference Center, even if it would entail borrowing money for that purpose. Sullivan should please understand that Chimaroke did not start the project so that he and his family can live in it. He started it for the pride of the entire people of Enugu State. Sullivan should also not forget that he has a huge burden of proving he is different from other people. As far as I am concerned, he is already my hero but I wish he completes the building. The building was started with Enugu State money and it's just too good to be abandoned. If Sully nwa mama fails to complete that project, he shouldn't expect anyone to do it. 6 Likes |

spyder880: After climbing that stair my joy for the brigde evaporated. I didn't like the fact that people were allowed to be using it without hand rail. The stair directly facing the bridge was not properly done. if you are climbing it, it will be pushing you backward. If you are going down, you need extra care in order not to roll over. It is quite scary. I wonder what they are waiting for, before they fix hand rail there. It is not safe to allow people to continue using that stair without hand rail. I guess they are waiting for a life to be lost before they do something. When you cross the bridge, coming from Ogbete, the stair on the left hand side of the hill is better than that facing the bridge directly. You fill safe and at ease climbing it. Please Sullivan should not leave office without fixing those hand rails because I am not the next governor would bother to do it. 1 Like |

KenGali: If you go to gariki area, there, is an eyesore. In fact when it rains, it's difficult to tell if one is driving on a tarred road or not because of accumulated sand. The problem is the roads where never swept for months, so those sand actually take time to accumulate, it does not happen overnight. I believe that weekly sweeping can really reduce the amount on the side road at any given time. Nothing weakens and destroys the roads like those sand. 1 Like |
