Wike's road project was a "patch-patch" project i.e maintenance project for porthole-less free road. That is quite different from dualization ,remodeling and rehabilitation of roads as the case of Enugu state. For transparency reasons, the projects go through a bidding process before contracts are awarded. Don't masturbate on something you know nothing about.

I masturbate because I campaigned for him and I am a bona fide son of Enugu State . It is my right to know what's going on there. My aim basically is not to denigrate or put the governor in a bad light. Sullivan completed some road projects during his first 100 days in office. Okezie Ikpazu of Abia State has completed many projects within his first 100 days. What is Ugwuanyi doing?

When people want to steal money, they start giving excuses and speaking long grammar like you are doing. Please, is it taking 4 years to get the bidding process finalized or are they searching for where to dump our money?

Below is a picture of the road started and completed by Okezie Ikpazu of Abia State.

Not making excuses for Hon. Ugwuanyi, but the budgets are not same.

Please did Sullivan get the money he worked with, from heaven? 100 days in office and nobody can point to a single project that Ifeanyi started and completed. 42 roads done by Wike and none for Ugwuanyi. Tufiakwa. May God save us from ndi ekperime. I hate excuses. You see why I love Sulivan, he never gave excuses. He simply delivered.

I think Chime completed some structures at Esut and parklane that was started by Chimaroke, like the second/third hostel at Esut.

Sullivan also completed one lane of the Ozalla-Agbani road which Chimaroke could not complete.

What you have advised is precisely what a wise business man should concentrate on doing right now.I wish they do so as a union instead of individually. Some great locations already exist, such as the wonderful Aba Mega mall, the Oba International market, the abandoned Enugu Intl. market at ninth mile area can offer locations for such businesses to relocate. Electronics traders can go to Oba, textile traders to Aba mall and Enugu will be a mixture of all.
But you know, they will not do anything if it is not an emergency yet. So don't expect people to heed your advise and start moving some of their assets to the safety of the south east. Which is precisely what a wise person should be doing right now.

Likewise, we must impress on our governors to open up industrial layouts quickly. Emene and ninth mile in Enugu, Kpirikpiri area in Abakaliki, Agu Awka in Awka, Osisioma and Onicha ngwa area for Aba, World bank and Egbeada area for Owerri and "33" Nsugbe or Oba area for Onitsha. It is an abomination for an industrialist willing to set up a factory in the southeast to be looking for industrial layouts in Igboland

I love it when people build their case on first hand knowledge, not mere speculation or sentiments.

I've noticed most of our political elite from the South East and South South tend to act this way while others use any opportunity they have to grab and locate everything to their region and favour their kinsfolk over others! GEJ is another example of the type of elite we produce.....too scared and wanting to act all fair and shi't!

Goodluck to any brother who thinks that under a Buhari presidency AIIA will get the necessary assistance and all it needs to be established and progress as a new international airport!

Chidoka is a typical Igbo Efulefu who is ok with the status quo, so long as his own pocket keeps growing.

I hope he still goes to Okpara Square for morning exercise. Imagine there's is no Okpara Square built by someone else, Chidoka won't have a place to do morning exercise.

God bless Stella Odua.

l shouttd about this, the whole of IMT campus and ESUT old sites has been allocated and buildings completed on them. What is really happening?

Let them keep sharing. One day, there will be no land to be shared. I was think that by now the government would have come up with a master plan for Enugu City, so that we all know where is which. No, everybody comes up, shares public properties to individuals who pay next to nothing on them.

That building is a legendary icon.
Hope it is completed and put to use soon. Importantly, i hope the interior is brought to true world class International Conference Center standard such as in the third picture.

sadly, right now, all the land meant for hotel and parking space of conference attendees have been poached by land grabbers and houses built on them.

The least Sullivan should have done was to roof the building, landscape the entire vicinity and make sure the grass is constantly mowed. The building can be completed in phases. Total abandonment is unacceptable because that building is more or less a monument.

@bolded, that's what is evidently lacking in our system of governance. We hardly engage in mega plan or project just because we want projects started and completed within one's tenure just to take credit. The day we discard this selfish-gain oriented projects and policies for a more collective approach is the day we move faster in this country.
Our continuity is still primitive. if for instance Ideke had won in Enugu, the centenary city, the only mega project in Enugu state [ a project for Enugu state not for Chime] would have gone down the drain. I hope it doesn't get abandoned even under a PDP government, after all Chime never talked about the Enugu International Conference Centre not to think of completing it.

Oh boy I love Sullivan but that International Conference Centre is too grand to be abandoned. Where do you see such iconic edifice in Nigeria outside Abuja. I wish Ifeanyi does something about it.

You implied that all the roads in Enugu city are in good shape when someone said that the governor is working on Emene roads.
Then you said unless he wants to start demolishing the already good roads, he should not forget Nsukka.

That sounds rather clannish.

I am very sorry to say this. I love Nsukka people but they are clannish to a fault. I have always wished Adada State was created so they can go and develop their state. Did we not witness the whole Enugu without exception, conceding governorship seat to Nsukka zone? Nsukka people would never have extended such gesture to Udi or Nkanu zone. Take analysis of past elections, they have always wanted to snatch power by all mean. The people who are here moaning over the building of road at Emene, have forgotten that while the whole Nkanuland was in darkness, Jim Nwobodo gave electricity to Nsukka.

I hate to tow this line, but I wish all those coming here to lament about Nsukka as if anyone is opposed to the development of their zone should simply carry their misery and go to another forum. Did anyone remember that I made a similar comment many months ago about my view on Nsukka. This is who they are. I am sorry I am generalizing, but that's who they are. Don't forget 90% of friend are from that area but they are disgustingly clannish. I know this will hurt some people but I have to say it.

Are you one of those that just sit in an armchair faraway and make conclusions? Do you think Enugu has more population than all the rural areas put together? Nsukka alone will give Enugu a good run for her money in terms of population and the people who live there also deserve a comfortable life. What about the agricultural products that come from the rural areas? Going by your reasoning, the governor can even start demolishing already good roads in Enugu and rebuilding them rather than build or repair anyone in the rural areas.

No sir, I am not an arm chair analyst. I am a street or field man. I go out there to see things for myself when I have the opportunity. Last time I was in Nigeria, I visited Nsukka. As an undergraduate, I visited most parts of Nsukka zone because 90% of my friends are from that area.

Nwanaa, I am not against building of rural roads. I will be very happy if the government asphalts every road in my village but we know that will remain a pipe dream, at least for years to come because government bughet is lean.

What I am saying is that our demand from the government should run pari pasu with the resources available to the said government and limited resources should be channeled to where they are mostly needed.

He should remember his place Nsukka, it is roadless. His government should focus a bit on the rural areas.

I agree that he should also work on Nsukka zone. As for rural roads, it's a waste of resources sinking billions of naira to build roads where few people live while the urban roads that cater for heavy traffics on daily basis are dilapidated.

How many of those who want rural roads to be tarred at the expense of the more useful urban roads actually live in the village or are ready to relocate to the village even if all the roads there get tarred. Nonetheless some selected rural roads that are not motorable should be built to ease transportation of farm produce to urban centres.

We should put our priorities right to avoid economic waste, especially now that people are paying taxes. The resources available to the state government is very limited and this is where prioritizing government projects and expenses comes handy.

Hmmmm do you think it is profitable to do so, especially where the cows will be kept in one location because our people may not have time to move about.

I have been making a of lot internet research on agriculture generally and I find out that growing food is easy and we are to be blamed for depending on Hausa/Fulani people for our foods. People normally argue that we do not have enough land for mechanized farming but the argument does not hold water considering that in the present day, food can be grown all year round, even in dark enclosures. What we need in south east is precision farming. If only our governors will take farming seriously, the issue of Fulani cattle herders slaughtering innocent people in their farms will be a thing of the past.

If one wants to rear cattle, it does not requires wandering about like the Fulanis do and it does not necessarily have to be a full time job. In fact all around the world, commercial cattle rearing is done in enclosures. You can even grow grass within 4-6 days in your room to feed the cattle. With the farming techniques and technologies available today, our people should not be hungry.

The clueless dullard is confused. He claims he doesn't have enough foreign exchange to develop Nigeria, but will waste the little remaining on importation of furniture , mattress and toothpicks.

Na dem sabi. Most of their economic actions are targeted on ruining local factories they feel are in the hands of their enemies. That is why I always wonder why Nigeria has one of the most expensive beef price in the world, but they will never authorize beef importation to bring price of local beef down. Because Fulanis control that business.

Why can't we rear cattle?

The dwindling oil fortunes has opened up new ways of thinking for public office holders. Enugu, with a budget of 89 billion, and IGR of 19 billion, would hit the rocks had the state not opted to do things differently. I welcome the advisory committee. At least, these are all high achieving men and I don't think any of them is digging for gold (No gold in Enugu BTW).
Rockefeller only named Enugu as the city to watch out for in Nigeria.
Lastly, I think Ugwuanyi should take his time to get his foundation right. That way, he would deserve whatever encomiums his administration earns, as well as be responsible for mistakes, and answerable to heavy criticism, should he err.

I hope Ifeanyi is not inviting trouble to himself. First of all, it will require money to run the 15 man committee.

Secondly, I doubt if the members of the committee would abandon their private engagements to travel to Enugu to hold meetings all the time.

Thirdly, Ifeanyi should know that he is morally bound to carry out the recommendations of the committee because nobody wants to waste his time to offer advice that would be ignored.

What stops Ifeanyi visiting any of the committee members in their respective homes in the evenings and or inviting any of them for a dinner in the state house to deliberate on issues.

Too many cooks they say, spoil the broth. You don't need such committee to know how to govern though it's a welcome development.

Spyder I don't know, but you seem to have something against Chime for not completing this centre in his tenure. I think this mindset is limiting. Government should not be seen as a personal thing, where Governors embark on only projects that can be started and commissioned during their tenure. I know he should have done something about the ICC but maybe there are more to it than just the ebe-ano rivalry.
The main thing is that money for the diagnostic centre seem to be secure, based on the steady progress on the construction. Passed there today and a signage bearing its name is already up.
My only disappointment remains the state of hotel presidential.

They should lease the bloody hotel presidential to any serious investor. I don't care who, my interest is that the hotel is not allowed to rot away. It will be shameful if that legacy is not maintained.

I am not interested in all those crap they wrote there. My annoyance is, how can EFCC and Court ground companies built with state fund for over a decade, for what!! I refuse to accept that as fighting corruption. It's retrogressive. They should presucute and sentence who ever is found guilt, and either hand over the properties to the state or auction them. It's serious economic loss to the state closing down those companies for years! It's too annoying...another governor has finished his first term, second term and you're still prosecuting the previous governor. Rainbownet could have employed a sizable number of people by now, same with Cosmo fm and their planned Tv station.

They are using the case as a smokescreen to destroy the businesses in Igboland. In as much as I detest corruption in public offices, I am not deceived into thinking that EFCC is fighting corruption, nay, they are fighting Igbo businesses. How come they are not closing businesses built through corrupt enrichment in other regions. How many Nigerians made money by personal effort, if not embezzlement of public funds and government patronage. Talk of Atiku and co. Tinubu owns the entire Lagos yet no one is talking about it. This should teach a very big lesson to every Igbo sons and daughters, that united we stand divided we fall. I remember that Chimaroke organised a party to celebrate the closure of Jim's Savanna Bank by Obasanjo. He forgot then that every Igbo person has a common enemy in Nigeria and once they are done with your brother, they are coming after you. The overall objective is to make sure no big business survives in Igboland so that all of you will migrate to Lagos, Kano Abuja and Maiduguri. It will then be easier for them to control your destiny, kill you whenever they want and take over your land.
