Warri _Pikin: New Zik Avenue Bridge opens in EnuguHow do u think Sullivan is going to choose a credible candidate, considering that people are easily corrupted with power? I think he can only do the much he can as a man, in choosing someone, but what happens after that no man knows. Anyway thanks for your contributions. |

slimchimex: pls what about the coal city monorail that was proposed since middle 2010,and commissioner of works claimed work Will start frm 1st december 2010. Three years have passed which was the duration for the 1st phase to be completed and yet d construction has nt commenced. Have chime forgotten or abandoned d project.. Pls someone should help me and tell d governor that's is the main and only project i'll like to see him complete. Can't wait to move around coal city with a high speed trainI am happy the proposed mono-rail was not started in the first place. It makes no sense spending billions of naira on mono-rail, when the roads are in a very poor state. I am sure Sullivan would have changed his mind after considering the opportunity cost of building a mono-rail in place of roads. Mono-rail is good but developmental projects should be prioritized to meet the most desirable and immediate needs of the populace. If the roads are fixed, we can then talk of mono-rail. Take the case of the new secretariat as a case study, I was one of those who bitterly criticized Sullivan, for embarking on such needless project, when Enugu is in dire need of affordable housing. Imagine what impact the amount spent on that secretariat would have made on the city if the money was used to build low-cost housing. Notwithstanding, Chime remains the best. It is not really easy to make any developmental progress in a deeply corrupt clime like Nigeria where even your kinsmen would reject you, if you fail to embezzle public funds. For those in doubt of Sullivan's personality, go to Udi and ask his kinsmen what he told them the day they paid him a courtesy visit. He asked them to go back and increase the least of what they wanted the government to do for them, because the one they had was very small. Of course they never went back to him. I do not worship Sullivan but I do honestly believe that he is doing a good job. My only worry about Enugu now, is that finding somebody that would fit into Sullivan's shoes after he vacates office, will be difficult. Is it the likes of morbidly selfish and myopic Ike Ekweremmadu that would suffice? *sadface.com* 2 Likes |

Enugu gets emergency call number for security, medical services: By Emmanuel Uzodinma on December 11, 2013 The Enugu State Government has established an emergency call centre with its own number to complement its efforts to entrench security and enhance prompt medical attention to life-threatening situations in the state. Governor Sullivan Chime, who announced this while presenting the 2014 budget estimate to the State House of Assembly, said the Emergency Response Call Number, listed as 117, would serve as an emergency centre, which citizens could contact for swift responses during emergencies such as vehicle accidents, fire incidents and criminal activities. He said the centre would also serve as a direct link between the citizens of the state and the government making it possible for the citizens to interface and interact with the government at all times. Governor Chime further said that the latest batch of security vehicles donated to the Nigerian Police and the ambulances of the Enugu State Medical Emergency Response Team, ESMERT, have all been tracked and connected to the emergency response call system. He also disclosed that with the introduction of free basic education policy, which covers children in primary and post-primary schools up to Junior Secondary School (JSS) 111, the school enrolment rate in pre-primary and primary schools rose from 65% to 85% between 2012 and 2013. The Governor said this had drastically reduced the number of out-of-school children in the state, adding that the gains from the reforms in the education sub sector was evident in the results of the 2013 Senior Secondary Certificate Examinations where 50.10 percent of the candidates from Enugu State passed with a minimum of five credits including English and Mathematics as opposed to 31.16 per cent in 2012. On the welfare of workers, He further disclosed that only 37 out of the 472 communities in the state were yet to have electricity but assured that the affected communities would be connected to the national grid next year.edical services Enugu gets emergency call number for security, medical servicesBy Emmanuel Uzodinma on December 11, 2013 The Enugu State Government has established an emergency call centre with its own number to complement its efforts to entrench security and enhance prompt medical attention to life-threatening situations in the state.
^^^Oh....i see now! [/quot In my naivety I've always wondered where Sullivan is getting the money to do what he was doing, because every governor attributes his lack of performance to paucity of fund. Imagine if we witnessed 1/10 of this trend during 20years of military rule. What I am seeing is simply marvelous. One would not appreciate what I am saying except one lived in Enugu during the reign of Chimaroke. Sullivan would have become a multi-billionaire like Orji Uzo Kalu if he decided to pocket all the money and cover it up with media propaganda. May God bless his generations. However, I have an observation to make. How come our roads are always empty? Where are Igbo people and have we all vacated our land? Which business is gonna thrive in a land like ours that is laid desolate? Population has a big role to play in attracting investments, I reckon. Please can somebody help me on this. |

PhenomenonVFX: This Chime guy na machine o. I just love d dude. Not some people that will be screaming all over Nigerian media if they do one road. I hope he has inspired the person he hopes to be governor after him to try to outshine him. I must enter Enugu again early next year. The Enugu State Traditional Rulers’ Council has been reconstituted with His Royal Highness, Ambassador Lawrence Agubuzu, as chairman. Speaking while inaugurating the newly constituted 57 member Council of Traditional Rulers at the House of Assembly Complex, Enugu, on Thursday, Governor Sullivan Chime said the State was blessed with first class individuals as traditional rulers of communities in the State. He noted that their presence had helped to entrench peace and development across the State. The Governor added that the selection of members of the council had been difficult given the quality of traditional rulers in the state stressing that it was during the process that he discovered that most of them were highly accomplished and experienced individuals who had been operating behind the scene to ensure that peace reigned in the state. “I beat my chest to present to the world our Council of Traditional Rulers. We can say that no other state can boast of the quality of the membership of this Council”, he said. Chime said that under the law establishing it, the Council was to advise him on the maintenance of public order within the states and on any other matter, adding that the law also provided for standing committees and other structures that would enable the state “get the best out of our traditional rulers and ensure”. He said that the law also provided for rotation of the membership of the Council every three years, saying that this and other arrangements, would help eliminate unnecessary competition for membership among the traditional rulers. Chime sued for the continued cooperation of the royal fathers to ensure that the state continued to set the pace for rapid development of the state and peace in the country. Responding on behalf of his colleagues, the Chairman of the Council His Royal Highness, Ambassador Lawrence Agubuzu, commended the Governor for reposing confidence in them. He said, “We pledge that we will not let you down, we will do our best to support you so that you will continue to give us the best of service which you have been giving us since you took over the leadership of our dear state”. Highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of official vehicles to the principal officers of the Council. Apart from Ambassador Agubuzu, the other officers are their Royal Highnesses, R.S.N Eze (First Deputy Chairman), Julius Nnaji (Second Deputy Chairman), Samuel Uka (third Deputy Chairman). Others are Royal Highnesses S.O Itodo (Grand Patron), Kingsley Chime( Patron) and Abel Nwobodo (Patron). |
