Truly,
If they have Enugu route now just "in principle", its really not bad.
They will thus start whenever the traffic becomes sufficient, without needing to go through the aviation ministry for a MUO, which could be frustrated, depending on who is in charge then.

The Ethiopian airline is already excellent connecting Enugu to all of African cities and far East. All we need is one more international carrier based in Europe to make easy link for our people in Europe and America into Enugu.

Well Med-View Airline just commenced Enugu-Accra route grin

200 foreign companies to storm Enugu for 26th International Trade Fair

By Emmanuel Uzodinma on February 5, 2015

No less than 200 foreign companies are expected in Enugu in the next few weeks for the 26th Enugu International Trade Fair.

The President of the Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and
Agriculture (ECCIMA), Dr. Ifeanyi Okoye, who disclosed this on Thursday, said the companies would be coming from China, India, the United States, among others.

Dr. Okoye spoke while addressing a press conference in Enugu to flag off activities for the 26th Enugu International Trade Fair slated to begin on March 27 and to end on April 6, 2015.

He said the fair would be declared open by President Goodluck Jonathan.

Okoye, however, appealed to the Federal Government to give the chamber the approval to partner the private sector in the development of facilities at the permanent site of Enugu International Trade Fair Complex.

The President of ECCIMA) stated that there was still infrastructure deficit at the permanent site even though the state government had
been of great help in maintaining internal roads and general environmental status of the complex.

He stated that this year’s fair would attract the highest number of foreign firms in attendance ranging from 150 to 200 firms expected
from India, United Kingdom, United States, China and other parts of the world.

The ECCIMA President stated that the essence of the fair was to get business minded people, researchers and innovators together to
interact and then go back to develop themselves.

Okoye said that ECCIMA was aware of the general elections slated for this month, noting that they had started preparing for the fair
working with the current time table of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), but at the same time ready to make any necessary adjustment if desired.

Answering questions from journalists, Dr. Okoye stated that Enugu International Trade Fairs had impacted positively the economy of Enugu, South East and Nigeria in general.

“The results are there, we have a lot of companies in Enugu state and they have gained a lot from the past fairs. I can mention a company like Innoson, which all of you know; he manufactures vehicles now.

“They have been coming to participate in the Trade Fair, manufacturing plastics, now they are manufacturing vehicles,” he said.

He expressed the optimism that this year’s fair would a great success, adding that it had been packaged.

The ECCIMA boss announced that they were collaborating with banks and. marketing communication firm based in Lagos to enhance and boost the level of participation and visitors to the Fair through a unique introduction of gift presentations to lucky visitors to the Fair.

What Nigeria needs is transformation, not change
He gave the theme of this year’s Fair as “Engineering the Nation’s Business Climate for Enhanced Industrialization, Investment Inflow and
Empowerment Generation”, even as he announced that the opening ceremony would be chaired by Prince Arthur Eze, chairman of Oranto
Petroleum and Atlas Petroleum International Ltd.

Please, where is the permanent site of the International Trade Fair located in Eungu?

It is really bad, under Chimaroke Nkanu East was not in his agenda and Chime came in still nothing to show for us.. I am from Ubahu and I don't need to start talking about what we are passing through due to bad roads.

I am not from the east of Nkanu but as an Nkanu man, I feel so much for you guys. I remember a guy's narrative of what he goes through before he gets to his village which is why he finds it difficult visiting home very often from US.

I wish Ugwuanyi will remember you guys this time around. The electricity in my village was given to us by Emeka Omerua. The 2 governors from Nkanu did not do any single thing for my village, but God has always used governors from other places to help us. Sullivan did marvelously well for my village too.

mbaka really hit pdp hard as many people who listened to his message may not vote goodluck. Even in unec, buhari is trending. Students are rooting for buhari. Those supporting goodluck are in the minority Lets face the truth, chances are that jonathan will be defeated. Pdp should appeal to mbaka to say a favourable thing about jonathan. Hmmm.

Vote Buhari and vote yourselves into perpetual slavery. Mbaka will one day face the wrath of the Islamists after he has led them into southeast.

The Muslims will give you everything you need to enter your land after which they exert authority to control you and if you try to resist them, they will kill you. It happened to the Yoruba people of present Kwara State. The Fulanis killed Afonja through whom they gained entrance into Yoruba land. Today, Yoruba land is a conquered territory. Iloron is an Emirate.

Ken Sarowiwa and some Ikwerres were used by the same Fulani people to frustrate Biafra by feeding them with the garbage that Igbos hate them. The same Fulani people killed Ken Sarowiwa. Here in the UK, there are some Ikwerre boys scavenging for menial jobs trying to survive despite the fact their land is richly blessed with oil. While Fulani people own oil wells in their land, they own nothing.

The UNEC students supporting Buhari are daft, even though they own used phones and laptops, claiming they are educated. They are politically ignorant.

When Buhari takes over power, he will make sure each and every one those ladies in UNEC go for one year prostitutional service in the name of NYSC. Not just prostitution, you provide them with cheap labour where non exists and after that they will kill you.

They will make sure no industry exists in the south east that will provide decent jobs to youths so that all of you can abandon your land and move to Lagos or Abuja and then cattle herders will have space to graze their cattle and rape your mothers in the village.

Foolish people who claim to be wise.

Street markets are a problem. I wonder how that can be solved without making people jobless.

Very simple, just build shops which will cost nothing but cement and sand. As soon as the shopping complex or market is ready, give them one or two years notice to move to the shops or risk demolition.

Go to Gariki Awkunanaw, you will be shocked that many shops have been lying waste for almost 20 years, yet all the roads there are impassable due to street traders.

What do you say about motor parks, which public transporters don't bother to use, instead they prefer blocking the roads while loading passengers.

It will cost nothing but proper planning and implementation to bring sanity on our streets.

Things are this way because the government neglect those areas. It's not about money, it's about planning.

When any government decides to bring change to the people, it requires nothing but the will, and the people themselves have got no choice than to follow suit, though they may complain initially.

If you followed this thread over the years, you would have realized that Spydder covers the rich and the poor in his publications. Besides, he is not the chief executive officer of Enugu State, and so there's little he can do to help the poor ones in the city. I hope you do not expect him to go and dig out all the dirt in Enugu to appear peasant-friendly, as that would run contrary to the objective of this thread. Don't forget that every city in the world has it's share of poor people. Thanks for remembering the hard-up families. Happy New Year. wink wink

Where is the PH train terminal located?

The village just needs some attention, that's all.

Even the bushy areas, they can be maintained. I also dont agree with the killing of snakes etc and the perception that oyibo people kill all snakes and other 'nasties' is actually untrue. In Australia, they have many deadly snakes and spiders, they dont just kill them all. They educate people on how to live with them.

I think many Nigerians don't appreciate delicate balance that exists within nature. Even in the UK and around the world, the same oyibo people are actively promoting the protection and promotion of bees. Not because of honey, but because of what they have discovered about what this stinging insect actually performs in relation to the rest of nature, including humans.

Oyibo have their forests (bushy areas) as well as fields, many of which are actually protected by law. I am actually in the Lake District in Cumbria now. The vast majority is actually declared a national park, to protect it. This includes forest.

Not everywhere should look like a town. There must be places that are kept closest to their natural states.

IMHO both in the village and city, there should be a program for tree/flower planting and maintenance.

Please how many snakes or scorpions have you seen on the road or in the woods, since you started living in England? If have not seen one before, ask yourself why. Granted that here in England, people keep snakes in their homes, but it is by choice and the owners take proper care of them. I grew up in the village and I can tell you how many times I had scorpion sting while growing up there. I know a lot of victims of snake bite as well. If we want to embrace modernity, it should be in all it's entirety. We cannot accept everything that civilization has to offer and not think of improving on our environment. The white people especially here in the UK move freely in the woods or forest because they are not afraid of being bitten by any dangerous reptile. Can you comfortably move around the bushes in our villages without seeing all manner of snakes. The answer is no. Our environment needs to be cleaned up and if you want snake, you can keep them in your house or in the zoo, that's what people do here in the UK. By cleaning up our villages, I don't mean falling all the trees or paving all the roads but at least the government should help in making our villages properly maintained and rid it of dangerous snakes. It's all about sustainability.

Those bushes should be cleared and grass seeds should be planted.who knows armrobers could be hiding in those bushes.
demolish all villages and move the inhabitants to the city. vast grass lands seem more appealing when driving .
extinguish all the snakes with poisonous bait traps .

This might sound stupid but I think this guy is making a lot of sense. If our villages are so wonderful, why don't we live in them. I want our villages to be completely overhauled. Modern agriculture should be adopted to create jobs. Americans, Brits and every developed world live in their villages, but we abandon ours to abroad and return there seasonably. It is a clear evidence that our system is not working and should be changed. If I have my way, all our villages should be fumigated against deadly reptiles like snakes and scorpions and then I will introduce, harmless animals like antelopes to move freely in our grasslands. That was what the whiteman did to make their land look like paradise. Our villages should be made economically viable instead of leaving it in it's pristine cosmetic state. I thank God, people are thinking.

there was a thread opened some time this year, you and your cohort strongly upheld chimaroke and ekweremadu and make aggressive effort to degrade chime, that's where the 'label' came. Now you compare lagos, [former capital of nigeria that wasn't affected by war, a city built with the nation's oil] to enugu. Seriously!! No one said Enugu should not grow its economy, that's exactly what this present administration is doing. You, probably, have forgotten the post here showing states that grew their IGR within the period under review. Enugu was among the top 3.
I pointed out where your loyalty lie because your opinion is corrupted by that. That i prefer chime to chimaroke wouldn't make me blind to efforts chimaroke made during his tenure or make me hide chime's faults. So, no one attacking you for not going with chime but make your points with sincerity, not condenming everything happening in enugu state just because you're in opposition to the current power. How can you say we should revert to manual control of traffic when enugu had those traffic lights and street lights in the 70s, but were allowed to rot. You should be talking about maintenance, sustainability and continuity, so that in future, we wont be battling with installing traffic lights in our main city rather we would be installing them in agbani, nsukka, udi, awgu, oji...that's how development goes. Chime's mission was to re-vamp the state and restore its glory, that, he achieved above average unlike your usual below average nigerian policitians.

We are progressing, my only fear, now, is maintenance of these infrastructural and non-infrastructural changes in the state. We will go back to level zero if these things are not maintained.

You and Spydder have put it in the most persuasive way possible, but I am afraid you are addressing a dead wood. You can argue as much as you want, the lady hates Chime and nothing whatsoever will change her opinion.

Guys I find the fences inside Liberty Estate repulsive. Such place does not need internal fencing since the premises has a communal fence. We have become so obsessed with fencing to the level of stupidity. Pls pardon my language.

What the estate needs in 24 hour security presence that would monitor the movement of people in and out of the estate. People living there should employ the services of 4-6 security guards instead of employing individual guards. That is how white people create jobs. By security guards, I do not mean Abokis. Our people should be employed.

Then they should bring down those internal fences and give space for side walks. The problem with our fences is that they take the place of sidewalks and so residents struggle to walk freely within within their neighbourhood.

I look forward to a time when every house in Enugu will not require private fencing, instead neighbourhood fencing will be the order of the day.

If the government can't handle that hotel, they should privatise it. It makes no economic sense letting that massive investment rot sway. Sell it to private individuals who can manage it properly, by that way, jobs would be created. Let us not be penny wise pound foolish.

I told some people few years ago that the Sullivan I know, would give up anything including his political ambition for the good of the state. Mark my word, after Sullivan, there may not be one like him in the next 50-100 years in Enugu State. If we get one soon, then we are lucky. I think Liberty Estate is the best in Enugu. I went there in March and I marvelled. Once you step in there, it gives a unique feeling and even the temperature inside that place is different from every other place.
