Fashion / How I Stumbled Into The Business Of Fashion 6 by BiddiesApparels: 10:22am On Nov 09, 2021
6

NYSC came, I met new friends, more than half of them had a skill that was giving them side money, I on the other hand couldn't do anything.
I started looking for something to learn and I met Tochi and Grace , they both taught me everything I know about beading☺️ but I still wanted to learn sewing.

I was always passing by this certain fashion school everytime I was going to work, one day I took the courage to find out about them.

Mr.Ola gave me the best guide that day and I made up my mind to enroll.

I enrolled at Sahara Fashion School and here we are today, growing strong in the ministry everyday

I remember I made that decision around this time of the year.
I resumed January, the next year and I am always grateful that I made the decision.

What is the koko of this matter?
Biddies' Fashion Academy is resuming fully in January, 2022.

We have a track record of teaching this skill perfectly well.
We have trained over 50 women who are doing well in the business of fashion.
We take our time to carefully take you by the hand and lead you step by step. This is the best foundation you will ever need in learning this skill.
Our online classes will be taking off in 2022 too.
Just send a DM to 09037171152 on WhatsApp and chat with us today.
We are waiting for you...

Fashion / How I Stumbled Into The Business Of Fashion 5 by BiddiesApparels: 9:19am On Nov 08, 2021
Continued from Saturday
5.

Meanwhile, I was having issues with custom made dresses.
Whenever we visit the tailor, this is the kind of conversation that goes on-
Mum: what's her bust measurement?
Tailor: 23
Mum: waist nko
Tailor: 20
Mum: hip?
Tailor: 25
Me: Chai! I am figure 8
Mum eyeing me
Mum: don't mind her she doesn't eat, help us add plenty ease so that she will look big
Me:
In my mind: One day I will grow up and leave your house....

Different versions of this scenario used to play out anytime we needed to make custom made dresses when I met a friend in final year , we were at the fellowship when she passed by and someone called her "dodondawa"
I was told that's her nickname, the person told me about her sewing prowess, somehow sha I found a way to meet her in her house and I was impressed and challenged!
Her room was her workshop, she used to make shirts, I tripped for her, the desire to learn sewing came back in double fold that day but we were already graduating, it pained me, I called her after we all left school but her location was soooo far from mine

Fashion / How I Stumbled Into The Business Of Fashion 4 by BiddiesApparels: 8:59am On Nov 06, 2021
Continued from yesterday

4.

It got worse when Daddy Junior had an accident and broke his leg.
Mummy junior had to stay home longer to take care of her husband so all the magic happening on the cutting table was transferred home, shebi I was seeing magic before, now magic had gone home
My daily routine was like this -
Mummy Junior will come with her already cut fabric and sew at the shop, we will all stand by her while she's sewing, if there's the need, senior shukura will hem some edges while the other senior and I will stand and watch, 1:30 on the dot, baby girl has to go pick her aburos from school.
By the time baby girl returns, a dress is made(magic happened again in her absence), baby girl is tired already and discouraged, goes to her regular corner and sleeps off.
Baby girl gets home.and is asked by mum "how was work today?" she'll reply fine but in her mind will be like"mummy and all the children in this house will soon know that I am an olodo!"

When we heard on the news that ASUU had called off the strike, haa! I was the happiest!
Bye bye to sewing, I just can't deal
That was how I forgot about sewing for a while.....

3.

My woes got worse when primary schools resumed.
I was the one saddled with the task of bringing Junior and his brother back from school.
When it is 1:30pm on the dot, I will just hear "baby girl, wa lo mu awon aburo e wa lati school".
It was not a big deal at first but after the first day of running that errand, I was almost crying. The distance was long like what I don't know and I had to trek, the sun was not always friendly too, I will return tired and worn out! Getting back, I will just enter into a cool corner of the shop and sleep, I was still a pampered baby then.

I wanted to complain but I realized I was always treated as the baby of the shop, my own task was easy!
Senior Shukura will fetch water, run errands to the market to buy food stuff and sewing accessories, the other senior was always doing the whole family's laundry so I couldn't complain, my task was the easiest!

Sewing now turned to magic!
I will just see scissors, fabric and school chalk on the table.
Mummy junior will just fold the fabric, mark here, mark there and fiam! use her scissors and this girl was just dazed. In my mind, i was like "so there's magic true true!"
I am sure the shock was on my face because she will always see my countenance and say don't worry, you will soon know it, see your senior Shukura, she has been here eight months and she's getting better. Infact she will even rub my back and tell me not to be discouraged, she was so nice.

Senior Shukura who had been there for eight months just knew how to sew Iro and Buba, then was always hemming scarves and overlocking the finished dresses, lobatan! Nothing more, nothing less in eight months!!!

My sojourn into the fashion industry started when I was in the university. The almighty ASUU was on strike and I was idle at home, I actually didn't mind because I had a lot of books to read but somehow I exhausted my novels and I was bored!

I was bored to the extent that I started drawing. This girl didn't have anything else to draw except dresses , I was actually bad at it but somehow I drew them then happily showed them to my mum.

Next thing Mummy will say is "abi you will learn sewing ni?" and I gladly said yes. "At last, boredom is over!!!"
I resumed with my mum's tailor - Iya Junior and I saw the olodo side of me

Fashion / Things To Take Note Of When Choosing A Nightwear by BiddiesApparels: 10:16am On Sep 28, 2021
Fabric.
Choice of fabric is very important. From experience, silk and cotton are the best.
Cotton is breathable, allows for air circulation and doesn't irritate the skin.
Silk on the other hand is a thermoregulator, it keeps you warm when you are cold and keeps you cool when the weather is warm.

Another thing to put in mind is fit.
Your nightwear should be loosely fitted. Your nightwear should not be tightly binded on your skin, it will make you uncomfortable.

In conclusion, when choosing your nightwear, comfort should be topmost on your mind.

We make custom made nightwear at Biddies' Apparels.

Your comfort is topmost on our mind when making one for you.
Place your order today and get a beautiful nightwear today whether in silk or cotton.
Send a DM to place your order, you'll be glad you did.

Stretching our natural hair helps us to know our actual length, we are able to flaunt our length and even tangles and prevent shrinkage.

Applying too much heat can be damaging to our strands, that's why stretching the heatless way is better.

Do you know you can stretch your hair without heat?

We will talk about different heatless stretching methods tomorrow, have a beautiful Friday❤

Fashion / Benefits Of Using Your Satin Bonnet Regularly by BiddiesApparels: 10:33am On Sep 23, 2021
The satin bonnet is a piece that every woman needs in her wardrobe, it is a trend that has come to stay.

We don't just wear our bonnets to sleep because we want to look good even while asleep, we wear it because not affects and helps our hair and I am sure every woman cherish their hair.

Here are 6 benefits of wearing your satin bonnet to bed every night:

Healthier hair. Your satin bonnet protects your hair from the friction between your hair and bed sheets that are moisture absorbing like cotton.

Hydrated/moisturized hair. Your satin bonnet keeps your hair hydrated.

Satin bonnet helps to keep your hair in place even while asleep so you don't need too much time to restyle in the morning.

You have lesser breakouts on your face because your pillow is free from oils that are supposed to be gotten from your hair because you use a satin bonnet.

You look stylish even while asleep.

We stock beautiful reversible satin bonnets at Biddies' Apparels, we sell both in bulk and units.

Unit price is 2,000 while bulk is 20,400 for a dozen.
Expecting your orders soon.
