Whyem15:

Found this video on Twitter, don't know how recent it is but one of the soldiers made mention of the location being the headquarters of bokoharam.
If true, it is obvious that the terrorists have abandoned camp and dispersed far ahead of the arrival of the military in the camp. This can only mean few things, either they are withdrawing to concentrate their forces in a more easily defendable position, they are luring the troops into a massive ambush or they are simply dispersing to regroup after the offensive has lost its momentum. Whichever one it is, there is need for massive deployment of ISR platforms to smoke them out. Unfortunately, one of the ATR 42 is currently in Germany for maintenance. The death toll on the the part of the terrorists is just too low in relation to the gains of the offensive.

Also noticed in the video is the heavy deployment of tanks and other heavy firepower equipments.
The video his around Dec 2020 - Jan 2021.
HUMINT has it that mass movement of BHT to the lake CHad region due to the heavy military operation in sambisa.
For total decimation of BHT, the Lake Chad region must be in total control of the military, year in and out. If not we keep on invading Sambisa forest every DEC-JAN !
Now Izza, is not BHT HQ but a kind of tactical HQ and where they regroup to lunch attack.

na u make JF-17 deep strike aircraft? whether u like it or not JF-17 is a light attack aircraft, its in same class as the tejas,gripen,Fa-50 etc.
Yeah its a light weight multirole fighter jet in its class, cheap to maintain and has a single engine ...etc.
But the facts still remains its used for multiple roles, including interception, ground attack, anti-ship, and aerial reconnaissance.

Amazing. You get keyboard warriors telling hardened soldiers what they require or don't require on the battlefield. Soldiers need to be mobile so having LAVs is preferable to Hilux technicals. Not every scenario requires MRAPs. Besides, we don't know all the equipment being used and what is expected.

Additional notes. It is always when progress is being made they appear. Never well done soldiers, always criticism to put a dampener on everything.

or bidex111, xbee007,Toju200, is there any method for detecting VBIEDs for soldiers on patrol or air surveilance.
That would be a little bit difficult for air surveillance assets.
Spotting a V.B.I.E.D. among terrorist convoy is not easy. But convoy movement in the north east theatre would be regarded and treated has enemy convoy or threats.

I have a question to ask: what happens to the weapons recovered from this terrorists? Are they destroyed or they use them?
From what have seen before;

AA Guns, light MG are immediately serviced and put back into active service.
Likewise light/small munitions like grenade and mortar rounds are also put back where some unstable ones are destroyed by engineers.
For riffles they are stored and properly documented.

Again I agree with this.

There is another Nigerian company coming with MRAPs, they might launch this year.

There's going to be considerable competition in the military vehicles sector.

I just hope we see advances in the area of IFVs and ammunition.

DICON DG is saying they would concentrate on ammunition development from small caliber to large calibre rounds.
Yeap not one person or company monopolizing the industry, there would be considerable competition.
On the ammunition development that's an area PROFORCE is going to make money from. Even with the DICON industry the military is still importing ammunition for small calibre arms.

Reactions As Kidnappers Slept Off After Kidnapping Their Victim

God is still performing wonders just believe in him. The prayer of everyone is that God should put confusing in the midst of our enemy and make them sleep until they forget about us.

There was a mild drama concerning the arrest of some kidnappers in Gombe State after they allegedly slept off during duty.

According to Punch Newspaper early the Gombe State Police Command has nabbed some kidnappers who slept off after kidnapping their victim and demanded for 5,000,000 naira ransom.

Information revealed that the victim, Alhaji Babayo from Shekoji village in Akko Local Government Area of Gombe State was kidnapped by the Gunmen on his farm and marched him into the forest where they trek for hours, but after they got tired, they decide to rest but slept off and the victim escape back to his village.

After Alhaji Babayo got to his village, he told the elders who informed the police, and they went after them but fortunately when they got there the kidnappers were still sleeping, but in an attempt to escape after the police got there one of them was shot dead while trying to escape and others were arrested

Any lead that Proforce had over DICON has now been eroded by a resurgent DICON.

The finishing from the first Ezugwu MRAP to this latest version, you can see this latest product is export quality.
Proforce should really step up is game!
Maj Gen Victor Ezugwu is really driving the Military industrial revolution, No wonder his not been transfered or moved to other military commission, which is not common in the military.
For me they should concentrate on military grade vehicle. If by the next one or two years proforce can't give us MRAPs with RCWS or something new, they would have to find major client in the continent.

Nigerian Army places fresh order for 52 Ezugwu MRAPs

Ezugwu disclosed that, this year, the Nigerian army had awarded contract for 52 Ezugwu MRAP and would be supplied by DICON between June and July this year.

“The awareness, operational efficiency of our troops has been enhanced with the introduction of the vehicles and we are hoping that it will really help our operational base,.”Ezugwu said.

This is goods to hear but the Army can do better. With this little numbers that means procurement has to be on regular/yearly basis.
Now Proforce has to offer something different or new that will keep the NA in doing business with them, has they remain there biggest client.
Proforce should be thinking of introducing MRAPs with RCWS, or something new that will keep them in the game.

COVID-19: NAF DISTRIBUTES MORE LIQUID OXYGEN TO ISOLATION CENTRES IN ABUJA

As part of its ongoing contribution towards the Federal Government’s efforts in managing the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) today, 7 January 2021, distributed more free Liquid Oxygen (LOX) to designated Hospitals and Isolation Centres in Abuja. The latest beneficiaries of the supplementary batch include the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada and the Department of State Services Isolation Centre in Abuja, who had benefitted from the earlier batch distributed in September 2020.

The oxygen, which was produced by the NAF LOX Plant at the 103 Strike Group (103 STG) Yola, were airlifted by the NAF C-130 Hercules aircraft to the Nnmadi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja and handed over to the beneficiaries by the Chief of Medical Services (CMS), Air Commodore Gideon Bako, who was represented by the Commander 063 NAF Hospital Abuja, Group Captain Muzzammil Muhammed.

Speaking during the handing over of the oxygen to the beneficiaries, the CMS assured that the NAF would continue to provide the free oxygen to Hospitals and Isolation Centres in line with the directive of the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar.

On his part, the Director of Medical Gases, University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Mr Nathan Yatufate, who spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries expressed his delight at the gesture by the NAF, noting that the oxygen has been instrumental in saving the lives of most COVID-19 patients in recent time.

Meanwhile, the NAF, had on 6 January 2021 provided cylinder of the LOX to the Maitama District General Hospital, Abuja for the treatment of COVID-19 patients. The Management of the Hospital thanked the NAF for providing the oxygen which, they said, remains the most critical need for the treatment of COVID-19 patients in the Hospital.

ANTI-BANDITRY OPERATIONS RECEIVE BOOST AS CAS INSPECTS PROPOSED SITE OF NAF FORWARD OPERATING BASE IN FUNTUA, KATSINA STATE

In furtherance of efforts to extend the reach of its operations in the fight against armed banditry and other criminal activities in the North West of the Country, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) is set to establish a Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Funtua, Katsina State. This was made known today, 7 January 2021, by the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, while on an inspection visit to the site of the FOB.

The CAS, who was accompanied on the visit by the Air Officers Commanding of the Air Training Command and Special Operations Command as well as some Branch Chiefs and Directors from the NAF Headquarters, was received at the FOB site by the Sarkin Maskan Katsina, the District Head of Funtua, Alhaji Idris Sambo, as well as the Head of Administration, Funtua Local Government Area, Alhaji Umar Mustapha, who both expressed delight with the development. They remarked that the establishment of the FOB would translate to enhanced security, thereby contributing to the improvement of the overall well-being of the people of the area.

Speaking to the Press after the site inspection, Air Marshal Abubakar stated that the NAF, working in synergy with sister Services and other security agencies, remains irrevocably committed to ensuring the safety and security of all Nigerians, wherever they may reside. He highlighted that the new FOB, when completed, would reduce the response time of NAF attack aircraft to emergencies within the area, thereby bringing security even closer to the people. He therefore solicited the support and cooperation of the people of the area for the successful take-off of the project.

While noting that security is an all-inclusive endeavour that requires the involvement of all citizens, the CAS equally encouraged all people in the affected areas to provide relevant information that would assist security agencies in ensuring their protection. Air Marshal Abubakar, while expressing appreciation to the Katsina State Government for allocating the land to the NAF, also directed the NAF Directorate of Works and support elements to immediately commence work, towards speedy completion of the project.
