SUSTAIN TEMPO OF OPERATIONS AGAINST ALL CRIMINAL ELEMENTS - CAS CHARGES TROOPS

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Oladayo Amao has charged troops of Operation GAMA AIKI (OPGA) and personnel of 013 Quick Response Force (013 QRF), Minna, Niger State to sustain the tempo of operations and continue to fight gallantly until insurgents, armed bandits and all other criminal elements are completely eliminated and peace restored to the State and all other troubled parts of the country. Air Marshal Amao gave the charge while celebrating Christmas with the troops of Air Component of OPGA in Minna.

Represented by the Deputy Director of Operations, Headquarters NAF, Air Commodore Sunday Aneke, the CAS noted that the lunch also provided an opportunity for the NAF to remember the sacrifices of fallen heroes who have paid the supreme price in the service to the country.
According to him, the security threats facing the country and the challenges they present to the attainment of national development goals require the emplacement of robust security architecture capable of rapid employment of airpower in the full spectrum of warfare. The NAF he stated, operating in concert with sister Services and other security agencies, has continued to courageously confront various security threats, while recording tangible results in the various theatres of operations. “I must therefore state that I am proud of the efforts of all our officers, airmen and airwomen participating in Internal Security operations in different parts of the country”.
While appreciating the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces for his continued support to the Armed Forces of Nigeria especially the NAF, the CAS stated that the AC OPGA has continued to perform very critical roles in providing the much needed air support for the effective conduct of ground operations by the Land Component. The air operations he disclosed, have been immensely instrumental in curtailing the activities of the terrorists and denying them freedom of action. “It is gratifying to note that operational manpower development in the NAF recently received a boost with the winging of 26 new pilots and 31 operators since my assumption of Office. In the same vein, I am happy to note that we currently have a total of 195 officers, airmen and airwomen undergoing various training courses abroad cutting across several specialties and trades. In addition, 12 student pilots are undergoing Basic Fighter Training at 403 Flying Training School, Kano, while 12 others are undergoing Basic Transport Training at 401 Flying Training School, Kaduna. These courses are aimed at maintaining combat readiness by increasing the number of pilots to man our ever-increasing inventory of aircraft”, he said.

In his remarks, the Commander 103 QRF, Group Captain Elisha Bindul stated that the presence of CAS during festive periods remained a huge source of motivation and indicative of his commitment to the welfare and morale of troops of OPGA. Such visits, according to Group Captain Bindul , demonstrated the innate desire of the CAS to give the troops a sense of belonging, realizing that they are spending the festive season in the frontlines and away from their families. While thanking the CAS for meeting to all their welfare demands, the Commander reassured him of their firm dedication to sustain the fight against all forms of criminality in Niger State and North West in general.

Visits and interactions of this nature provides an opportunity to not only bond with frontline troops but also to promote esprit de corps, comradeship and regimentation.

The Commander Corps of Artillery Major General Tari-Timiye Gagariga has tasked fresh Graduands of the Nigerian Army Training Center to always maintain high professional standards in their conduct during operations. CCA gave the advice on Thursday 23 December, 2021 in Kontagora during the graduation ceremony of 288 officers and men of the Nigerian Army who had undergone training on Basic Camel MRAP and APC EQ Series Vehicle Course.

The Commander Corps of Artillery who was the Special Guest of Honour at the event was represented by the Chief of Staff, Headquarters Nigerian Army Corps of Artillery, Brigadier General Lebonsina Lebo, stated that the continuous emergence of the asymmetric threats which appears majorly in the form of terrorism and insurgency and being perpetrated by criminals across the country makes the Training more relevant at this time. Major General Gagariga therefore charged the outgoing trainees to do everything possible to sustain the knowledge acquired during the training.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Commander Nigerian Army Training Center, Major General Oluyinka Soyele explained that the training covered wide range of sensitive and strategic operations, saying that the exercise will go a long way in enhancing professional capacities and duties of the graduands when eventually deployed for operations.

The Commander thanked the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya for the support to the Center. Stressing that success in the conduct of the training would not have been possible without his support.

In his speech, the Chief of Training, (Army) Major General Abdulsalami Ibrahim, represented by Brigadier General Aminu Usman stated that the just concluded training of selected Nigerian Army personnel which is a collaborative partnership between Nigerian and Chinese Government, with Nigerian Army Training Center as host institution, is aimed at effective drive and maintainance of the newly acquired platforms.

Major General Abdulsalami Ibrahim explained that the newly procured Camel Mine Resistance Anti Ambush Protector (MRAP) and Armour Personnel Carriers Multi-Functional EQ Series were acquired to ehance better performance for the Troops against insurgence and other forms of security challenges in the country, charging the Troops not to relent until criminals under any guise are flushed out of the country.

He congratulated the graduands for the successful completion of the special training and urged them to be law abiding citizens with high sense of Professionalism and to conscientiously imbibe maintainance culture on the equipments.

The Chief of Training expressed his appreciation to the Commander Nigerian Army Training Center, Director Soldiers Professional Training Directorate, and all the instructors and supporting Staff of the Center, specially commending the Chinese partners for their wonderful contributions to the success of the Course.

In his vote of thanks, the Head of Foreign Partners Mr Tang Tian appreciated the Commander, students, the leadership of the Nigerian Army and Nigerian Government for given him and his company the opportunity to serve, saying that the collaboration will go a long way in fostering better relationships between Nigeria and China.

TROOPS THWART IPOB/ESN ATTACK ON TWO COMMUNITIES... Uncover IEDs

Troops conducting Exercise GOLDEN DAWN Sector 3 have thwarted an attempt by members of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, Eastern Security Network (ESN) to unleash mayhem on residents of Mgbidi and Awo Mmamma communities in Oru East Local Government Area of Imo state. The group targeted terrorising the people for lawfully refusing to observe the illegal sit-at-home order foisted on them on Monday 6 November 2021.

The swift response of troops compelled the attackers, mounted on two Sienna Buses and a Toyota Hilux truck to abandon their mission and withdrew in disarray. Troops are currently on the trail of the criminals.

In a separate development, troops have uncovered four Improvised Explosive Devices planted by members of the proscribed IPOB/ ESN, in their desperate effort to inflict harm on unsuspecting motorists and other road users along Orlu - Owerri road. The vigilant troops, who were on a reinforcement mission to Mgbidi/Awo Mmama detected the IEDs planted at about 15 meters apart on both sides of the road and safely defused them. No casualty was recorded during the defusion.

The troops also recovered four wraps of unexploded ordnances, one motor cycle battery, two vehicle alarm devices, one detonator, wires and batteries. The road has been safely cleared and motorists have resumed plying the road.

We urge all law abiding citizens to go about their normal businesses and disregard the illegal sit at home order. We also appeal to the good people of Mgbidi, Awo Mmama and Omuma Communities to report any suspected movement of members of the irredentist group, who may be seeking a safe haven, to relevant security agencies.

I have been saying this for near 10 year’s.

Instead we have our highly trained, precious and brave combatants in soft skinned pick up trucks in hotly contested areas rife with murderous deranged insurgents.

It’s really crass willful negligence on the part of government.
It's just shear negligence and top brass not doing something about it.
