Revealed: Troops uncover France-based NGO linked to Boko Haram, kill terrorists with ID card

A France-based non-governmental organisation, Première Urgence Internationale, working alongside Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists has been uncovered by Nigerian troops.

With headquarters in Asnieres-sur-Seine on the suburbs of Paris, Première prides itself as an “international NGO which helps civilians who are marginalised or excluded as a result of natural disasters, war and economic collapse.”

The self-acclaimed humanitarian group first gained access to Nigeria in 2016, setting up activities in various complementary domains in order to respond to the vulnerable populations’ needs in the north-east.

However, a recent revelation by the gallant troops has suggested otherwise as the group has only succeeded in fuelling insurgency in the region.

Like many other foreign NGOs, instead of providing aid to the returning inhabitants following massive clearout by the resilient troops on the frontline, Première acted as a rehab centre for the utterly wounded and defeated fighters.

A Boko Haram terrorist, with an identification card belonging to Première, was on Sunday night killed by the troops in Gubio, Borno State.

Adam Idris Kubo, as displayed on his ID, works with the French NGO as a Pharmacist.

This has somewhat vindicated the Nigerian Army’s decision to shut down two foreign groups – Action Against Hunger and Mercy Corps and justified the call by some local civil society organisations to ban these international NGOs.

Nigeria Has Received 6 Russian Mi-35M Helicopters, Expects 6 Remaining - Ambassador

Nigeria seeks ensuring mutually beneficial defense cooperation, the official emphasized.

"We try to work within the framework of the system, so that Russia does not lose anything, but so that Nigeria also does not lose. Deliveries schedule will be discussed. Our wish list is quite long. We continue to discuss these issues with Russia. But I want to emphasize that without Russian help, without Russian technology, the fight against terrorists in my country will face very big challenges. We are interested in the fact that this equipment was purchased and delivered on time," Ugbah explained.

Nigeria discusses with Russia the possibility to purchase its Su-57 fighters and is also interested in Russian helicopters, tanks and intelligence equipment, Steve Davies Ugbah said........................
Ugbah expects Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Nigerian counterpart, Muhammadu Buhari, who will head his country's delegation, to hold a meeting on the sidelines of the event, which Russia's resort city of Sochi will host from 23-24 October.

PRESS RELEASE

TROOPS NEUTRALIZE NOTORIOUS BANDITS' LEADER AKA EMIR AND 59 OTHERS, Overran Bandits' Camps, Capture Arms & Ammunition, Recover Over 400 cows

In continuation of the on-going intensive clearance operations against armed bandits in Zamfara state, troops of Operation HADARIN DAJI (OPHD) have continued to record tremendous successes against the criminal elements/unrepentant bandits.

Recall that on 3rd of October 2019, troops deployed at SUNKE in ANKA Local Government Area, troops came under unprovoked attack by armed bandits despite the ongoing peace process in the State.
However, the gallant troops successfully repelled the attack, neutralized 19 bandits in the process. Unfortunately, 4 soldiers lost their lives during the encounter.

As a result of the encounter, troops further commenced aggressive clearance operations nicknamed OP MUSHARE on the 6th of October 2019, with a view to apprehending the recalcitrant bandits. Consequently, between 6th and 7th of October 2019, within BAWA DAJI general area, 3 heavily fortified camps at GUBARAWA, BAWA DAJI and BAWA DAJI Forest were destroyed when the troops overpowered the bandits, overrun the 3 camps and neutralized 39 bandits, (including the notorious bandits' leader known as “Emir”) and many bandits were obviously wounded.
The following items were recovered from the bandits/camps:
a.3 x AK 47 rifles
b.421 x 7.62mm (special) ammunition
c.30 x PKT rifle rounds
d.10 x magazines
e.5 x Motorcycles
f.177 x Cows
g.7 x handsets
h.2 x handset batteries
i.Substance suspected to be Cannabis Sativa
j. Charms
Four soldiers were wounded during the operation.

Similarly, in continuation with the offensive against the bandits, clearance operations were also extended to the general area of KURUWA, KAWARA, KALAHE and ZANGO villages in BAKURA Local Government Area where troops encountered a large number of marauders at their camp in ZANGO village on 8 October 2019. The determined troops overwhelmed the armed bandits with a high volume of fire, neutralized 19 of the criminals and recovered 1 motorcycle.

Additionally, troops also arrested a suspected bandit Abubakar Umar along road LAMBA - DAMRI axis with the sum of 400,000 Naira presumably for purchase of bandits logistics supplies. The suspect will be handed over to the civil police for further investigation/necessary action.

Additionally, on the 8th of October 2019, troops on fighting patrol in BUKKUYUM general area, intercepted some logistics items enroute to bandits' camps. The items include:
a.13 x Jerry cans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS)
b.8 x Litres of engine oil
c.4 x Motorcycle tyre tubes

Furthermore, on the 9th of October 2019, troops deployed in ANKA general area, based on intelligence intercepted and arrested suspected bandits' logistics suppliers named LAWALI UMAR AND JAMILU LIMAN around KUTURU village in ANKA Local Government Area of the State purchasing some logistics items for onward movement to the bandits' camps. Consequently, the troops recovered the under listed items:
a.4 x Jerry cans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS)
b.1 x Carton of Malt
c.3 x Packets of soft drinks
d.1 x packet of Nutri milk

In a related development, based on intelligence indicating that armed bandits were seen crossing with some rustled cows at DAKI TAKWAS in ANKA Local Government Area, OPHD troops deployed in the general area immediately ambushed the criminals along road ANKA-DAKI TAKWAS. The criminals fled and abandoned the rustled cows in the area. Troops pursued the fleeing criminals and successfully neutralized 20 of them and recovered the following items:
a.2 x Motorcycles
b.6 x magazines
c.160 x rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition and many links
d.60 x rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition
e.296 cows

Presently, troops have dominated the general area with aggressive patrols, snap checkpoints and ambushes amongst other line of operations to deny the criminals freedom of action.

This onslaught against armed banditry and all other criminal activities will continue until banditry is effectively combated. Troops will continue to remain highly committed and professional in carrying out assigned tasks in line with the extant Rules of Engagement and Code of Conduct.

Accordingly, the Force Commander OPHD and Acting General Officer Commanding 8 Division, Nigerian Army, Brigadier-General Aminu Bande commended the troops for their commitment and reassured the good people of Zamfara and other neighboring states of the determination of the Army and other security agencies to secure lives and properties. He further solicits for the support of the public to continue to support the on-going campaign against armed banditry by providing timely and credible information to OPHD troops and other security agencies to ensure prompt and decive action.

The FC also used the opportunity to warn all recalcitrant bandits and their cohorts to lay down their arms and embrace the on-going peace process of the Zamfara State Government or face full military action.

On October 6, 1973, hoping to win back territory lost to Israel during the third Arab-Israeli war, in 1967, Egyptian and Syrian forces launched a coordinated attack against Israel on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar. Taking the Israeli Defense Forces by surprise, Egyptian troops swept deep into the Sinai Peninsula, while Syria struggled to throw occupying Israeli troops out of the Golan Heights. Israel counterattacked and recaptured the Golan Heights. A cease-fire went into effect on October 25, 1973.

1973 Yom Kippur War: Background
Israel’s stunning victory in the Six-Day War of 1967 left the Jewish nation in control of territory four times its previous size. Egypt lost the 23,500-square-mile Sinai Peninsula and the Gaza Strip, Jordan lost the West Bank and East Jerusalem, and Syria lost the strategic Golan Heights. When Anwar el-Sadat (1918-81) became president of Egypt in 1970, he found himself leader of an economically troubled nation that could ill afford to continue its endless crusade against Israel. He wanted to make peace and thereby achieve stability and recovery of the Sinai, but after Israel’s 1967 victory it was unlikely that Israel’s peace terms would be favorable to Egypt. So Sadat conceived of a daring plan to attack Israel again, which, even if unsuccessful, might convince the Israelis that peace with Egypt was necessary.

Did you know? On October 6, 1981, Anwar Sadat was assassinated by Muslim extremists in Cairo while viewing a military parade commemorating the anniversary of Egypt’s crossing of the Suez Canal at the start of the Yom Kippur War.

In 1972, Sadat expelled 20,000 Soviet advisers from Egypt and opened new diplomatic channels with Washington, D.C., which, as Israel’s key ally, would be an essential mediator in any future peace talks. He formed a new alliance with Syria, and a concerted attack on Israel was planned.

Yom Kippur War: October 1973
When the fourth Arab-Israeli war began on October 6, 1973, many of Israel’s soldiers were away from their posts observing Yom Kippur (or Day of Atonement), and the Arab armies made impressive advances with their up-to-date Soviet weaponry. Iraqi forces soon joined the war, and Syria received support from Jordan. After several days, Israel was fully mobilized, and the Israel Defense Forces began beating back the Arab gains at a heavy cost to soldiers and equipment. A U.S. airlift of arms aided Israel’s cause, but President Richard Nixon (1913-94) delayed the emergency military aid for a week as a tacit signal of U.S. sympathy for Egypt. On October 25, an Egyptian-Israeli cease-fire was secured by the United Nations.

Yom Kippur War: Aftermath
Israel’s victory came at the cost of heavy casualties, and Israelis criticized the government’s lack of preparedness. In April 1974, the nation’s prime minister, Golda Meir (1898-1978), stepped down.

*PRESS RELEASE*

*TROOPS RESCUE KIDNAPPED VICTIMS FROM BOKO HARAM CRIMINALS, DESTROY IMPROVISED EXPLOSIVE DEVICES AND RAID KIDNAPPERS DEN*

In continuation of the Nigerian Army's drive to clear marauding criminal insurgents and other unscrupulous elements from Operation LAFIYA DOLE and other theatres of operations nationwide, troops of 151 Battalion in conjunction with elements of 21 Special Armoured Brigade's Quick Response Force (QRF) thwarted the kidnap of 3 civilians by the criminal insurgents. This rescue operation occurred at about 12:20 pm on 4 October 2019 when the said troops, while acting on information volunteered by some patriotic indigenes, blocked and engaged the criminal insurgents in a fierce fire fight at a crossing point around FIRGI village in BAMA LGA of Borno State, leading to the rescue of the civilians and a Canter truck loaded with grains. The criminal insurgents, who succumbed to the superior fire power of the troops, abandoned the hijacked truck and its occupants and fled in disarray into the forest. The gallant troops are still on the trail of the criminal insurgents while the rescued victims have been escorted safely back to their destination. Troops continue to dominate the area and deny the criminal elements freedom of action within the entire Theatre of operation.

In another development, at about 9:30 am on 5 October 2019, troops of 114 Task Force Battalion, while on clearance operations, discovered 2 Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) planted by criminal insurgents along BITTA - YAMTEKE Road. The devices were successfully detonated by the Explosive Ordinance Disposal team, thus making the route safe again for commuters.

Similarly, in the South South, troops on Operation MESA raided the criminal hide-outs of some identified kidnap kingpins in Rivers State. The suspected kidnappers who have been terrorising innocent citizens met their waterloo when troops of 29 Battalion simultaneously raided the said criminal hideouts in OBIO/AKPOR, TAI and GOKANA LGAs of Rivers State on 2nd October 2019. The raid led to the arrest of 4 high profile criminals who have been on the Security Agencies' wanted list. Those arrested include DUMBARI Bro from B-DERE community, VICTOR DOKARA from K-DERE community, GBARACO KAVILOBA from LEWE and CONFIDENCE FRIDAY from BODO community. The suspects are currently undergoing interrogations and will soon be handed over to the appropriate Security Agency for prosecution.

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Tukur Yusuf Buratai wishes to once more appeal to the good citizens of our great country to continue to support the Nigerian Army's resolve to completely rid their communities of criminal elements by providing useful information to effectively tackle the myriad of the security challenges facing the nation.

AIR COMPONENT OF OPERATION HADARIN DAJI RESUMES LIGHT KINETIC OPERATIONS, NEUTRALIZES ARMED BANDITS NEAR BIRNIN GWARI IN KADUNA STATE

The Air Component of Operation HADARIN DAJI (OPHD) has neutralized no fewer than 10 armed bandits at forests near Birnin Gwari and Janko Hill in Kaduna State. The operation was conducted yesterday, 5 October 2019, following the directives by the OPHD Headquarters to resume kinetic operations against camps identified as harboring unrepentant armed bandits. The decision was taken in the wake of the attack on troops’ location at Sunke in Anka Local Government Area of Zamfara State as well as the increased migration of bandits towards the Birnin Gwari area of Kaduna State.

The attack on the armed bandits was undertaken when a Nigerian Air Force (NAF) helicopter on armed reconnaissance mission over the Birnin Gwari general area spotted several bandits at the location and engaged them with its guns killing some of them. Some bandits were similarly tracked to Janko Hill and equally neutralized.

The objective of the renewed kinetic operations is to ramp up the pressure on the bandits with a view to ensuring the ongoing peace process is not scuttled. Accordingly, the Air Component OPHD will continue to dominate the general area through armed reconnaissance missions to facilitate a return to normalcy in the Northwest of the Country. All persons involved in armed banditry in the area are therefore strongly advised to renounce violence, surrender to security agencies and hand over their weapons.

This is in contrast to the reality. Your assertion above was only recently with the new strategy of Super Camps. It is not even 2 months, shoot! Everyone here knows this. Heck, even housewives know it. It is open knowledge with Burutai even seen in the field himself ordering troops to dominate every nook and cranny of Northern Borno. Former Army Chiefs never did anything of the sort. We all cheered. We are all guilty. We said its the right thing to do. We hailed the chief. That strategy is what led to the deployment of the I57 task force battalion to Metele close to the Niger border and so many other such like remote deployments that wasn't a static thing before. Even Nigeriens used to complain the Nigerians are non-existent there. Media reports are online we can fact check. But alas, ISWAP came calling. We are all patriots here and wanting the best and to be fair to the fallen let's say the facts. The proliferation of FOBs was accelerated under General Buratai and he meant well but it failed.
My assertion is not about the idea of the super camps creation camps. Am talking about the gradual withdrawal of troops outpost/F.O.B in the North East theatre since 2017.
You can't compare the numbers of troops/F.O.Bs from 2011 -2017 to 2017 till present day.
This is not I heard it's what I have witnessed, I have been to Borno state and it's enviRon twice this year and before the end of the year it's certain I will be in the north east.
It's of no point you're been biased and no clue of what you're saying.
