So you would rather the mobey wasted in the Gambia, or on vessels that have no way of protecting its crew.
What am saying is I'll rather go to China or Russia to get frigates or corvette ships with that same money you want to use to refit NNS ARADU.
Dude do you know what you say sometimes; whopping $300million to refit a ship that is old enough to be retired. Am sorry you must be a prodigal son.

Here are some price list of naval ships; https://newwars./warship-costs/ .

Since 2014 the Navy have been requesting for $300 million to retrofit NN S Aradu. That's a vessel with 18 Otomat missiles still in storage. Request denied. Them we spend $300 million in a show of force to beg Yahya Jammeh to step down. Another $50 million buying Augusta Westland VIP Helios. Then we expend $500 million buying Stealth Patrol vessels from China. The Chinese offer to arm the ship with Chinese anti-ship and air defence missiles. We turn down the offer. God forbid the day we are forced to defend the waterways, not from pirates but from enemy ships capable of wiping out Nigeria's oil infrastructure or creating enough damage that basically cripples the nation's economy...

..Oh wait....How dare I say such ! such a fantasy! It will never happen hete.
It's a waste of money spending such amount to refit NNS ARADU. Seriously you would spend $300million on that old cargo.

I'll rather save the money for another new vessel.. sad

Chinese option: FILAT WMD-7

Foreign Affairs › Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by bidexiii(op):
Another targeting pod option for the jf17 jet.

The FILAT WMD-7 Targeting pods.

Due to Chinese technological/industrial capability bottlenecks in the 1990s, the infrared (IR) sensor of the first generation FILAT had relatively low performance such as the time of operation. As a backup, a starlight night vision system was incorporated in FILAT for night targeting in nights with starlight or moonlight. By the time of 9th Zhuhai Airshow held in November 2012, Chinese technology has advanced enough that the performance of IR sensor is approaching that of west, and the starlight night vision backup is no longer needed. As a result, WMD-7 targeting pod only has IR, TV and laser systems. The laser targeting system of WMD-9 works at wavelength of 1.064 micrometer, with targeting range in excess of 13 km, and ranging range of 0.5 to 18 km. The pod weighs 280 kg. WMD-7 can be deployed on many aircraft, including CAC/PAC JF-17

10. In order to enhance our growing Military Industrial Complex and boost local production, the NA is collaborating with some international and indigenous companies in the local production of helicopters, UAVs, radios, vehicles, weapon and equipment spares as well as combat materiel. The companies include SAT-COM NAMIBIA, NTRC PAKISTAN, Innoson Vehicle Motors, Proforce Nigeria Limited and Nigerian Machine Tools amongst others. This is in line with the Federal Government’s drive to boost local content patronage which holds a very good prospect.

You've been bleating about Chad MIGs, it was debunked, you criticized the Tucano without even knowing its role, what next now? conspiracy stories?

In all your yelling throughout today I can barely pick one coherent factual statement. We are not saying you should not jerk off, please do it somewhere else!

And if this person is SSBN, shame on you o grin
Chad only operates one grounded Mig with two been placed on order. Most of her SU25 jets and Mi Helicopters are been destroyed by a terrible hurricane storm last year.

Frequent Statements and Questions:

This is a left over by the US Air Force
Absolutely no. These are manufactured for the Lebanese Air Force. In fact, the US AF is currently evaluating this aircraft in order to obtain it for its counter insurgency operations. Read more here.

This aircraft is very old (or from WWII era) & no longer used because it is turbo-propeller.
The original EMB 314 was introduce in 2003, so no it is not an "old" aircraft. The aircraft is used by major armies across the world for the specific mission it was made for. Some are probably surprised to see such an advanced cockpit (check up).

An AA gun can bring it down
No, unless it is flying within range of the AA gun. Check the info about altitudes mentioned up. In reality, it is most likely that a non-radar AA gun (commonly operated by insurgents) would be taken out before the operator can even see or hear the aircraft.

Instead of advancing we are going back in time. Who uses propeller aircraft anymore?
Wrong. Air forces with some of the most advanced jets over there are turning to turbo-propeller aircraft for their counter-insurgency and close air support operations. The market is growing with solution such as the Super Tucano, Cessna AC-208B, Air Tractor AT-802, and AT-6 Beechcraft.

This is a slow aircraft
The aircraft is fast and agile. It can reach a maximum speed of 590 km/h. In fact, it has the speed for the mission it is intended for.
Only jet fighters like F-16 or F-35 can be effective for the NAF operations... grin

Sending an aircraft that is expensive to procure and to operate to counter-insurgency proved to be very costly. Consuming the air frame life, expensive spare parts, and expensive jet fuel, have led armies, including the US, to consider aircraft such as the A-29.

We could have acquired second hand older generation jets
The technology advancement in the A-29 surpasses any old jet capability.

We should have acquired F-16/SU35
For now, that's a far reach. Beyond, the A-29 would remain the aircraft preferred for the mission it is made for.

It took too long to receive them, ISIS is not anymore in Lebanon all because of the dreaded A-29
Procuring aircraft is not shopping a car. Moreover, these aircraft are made to order, and those who placed their orders first, have the priority. The real problem is all the causes that lead the NAF to take too long to place an order, on top of which is financing.

Propeller aircraft are in general an old technology
Many modern military (and civil) aircraft still use propellers especially where speed isn't the main concern. Whether a military transport, UAV, or light-attack, turbo/propeller are still providing the power & safety needed for these aircraft to conduct their designed missions. Jet is not equal to modern, like turbo-propeller is not equal to old.

Dude you don't know what you 're saying. Back then the Chadians and Cameroonians know what will hit them if they infringe on Nigerian territory. Today they do it with reckless abandon, killing, burning whole villages. The Super Tucano is a specialised aircraft against a specific kind of target. It's light skin and slow speed means it will be blotted out of the sky by enemy aircraft or surface to air missiles. Nigeria needs an AIR FORCE, not a special forces air force. O boy...a nation like Nigeria cannot afford a modern air force? Are we that bavkward really? We can put hundreds of millions to put satellites into orbit, $300 million for peave keeping but yet cannot buy modern 4th generation fighters?
You don't know what you are talking about, please stop these ranting grin
Foreign Affairs › Re: Battle Field Discussion (picture/video) Of African Military . by bidexiii(op): 5:00pm On Sep 25, 2018
SLBM:
It's still crap. It is not an air superiority fighter and will not survive 5 minutes against supersonic fighter jets. Nigeria needs to address its lack of air superiority fighter rather than wait for the innevitabilty to happen. Every country buying Super Tucanos are doing so as a low cost measure to 4th generation fighters. Nigeria is doing the opposite. We are buying the Super Tucano as Nigeria's most high-tech warplane. Completely worthless in the strategic sense.
I don't understand these you cry for 4th gen Jets. Henry asked you the other time is the super tucano not a 4th gen Jets huh

Tell me what other better platform you need to fight the BHT war going on for over 7 years or more.

Bro you still don't get it. What air superiority fighter are you talking about when people are dying. Do you just want to argue blindly.

Every body on these thread want the the force to acquire these so called superiority fighter jet, but first thing first...will be our order of priority needs. Simple as ABC

SLBM:
By your analogy %99 of all countries in the world are stupid and selfish and Nigeria is the smart one. Dude, If Nigeria had do be what most countries do, invest in her armed forces 35,000 Nigerians will not be DEAD.How can you crush a country that on multiple occasions crossed into Nigeria, carried out military operation unauthorized and mock the Nigerian army, calling them cowards who flee. When Nigeria whipped Chad on 83 the Air Force had 15 Scepcat Jaguats and 21 Mig-21s, and even at that it took 21 days for the Chafians to be dislodged. Today the NAF is in a sorry state, overstretched. You see modern 4th gen aircrafts as a luxury Nigeria cannot afford. It is a shame really. The government is run by old dinosaurs who are clueless...the nation's only hope, the youths , people like you who are supposed to question and challenge their incompetence tow similar lines. It's not selfish equipping your Air Force with modern weapons. What is selfish is accepting millions of dollars in allocation, cutting corners buying junk, and then sending Nigerians to go into battle with junk. Do you know-how many lives would have been saved if Nigeria had enough platforms to provide round d clock close air support for ground troops? These people are eating our money, and you are here making excuses and defending them. Luxury it is indeed to modernise. It's hopeless.
Now you are turning these to a sympathy speech, yes we kicked Chadian back to there homes with the jaguar jets like wise the Alpha jet did a fantastic job in Sierra Leone also.

With the super tucano and jf 17 on its way, we are getting back to what the force use to be. Dude the military erase really spoilt every sector in these country. We will get their.
