PRESS RELEASE 76 DAPCHI ABDUCTED STUDENTS RELEASED IN ONGOING PROCESS - FG The directive by President Muhammadu Buhari to all security agencies to do everything possible to secure the release of the Dapchi schoolgirls, who were abducted 19 Feb. 2018, has yielded fruits, with the confirmed release of 76 of the 110 abducted students in the early hours of Wednesday. In a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said the 76 are those who have been documented so far, adding that the release of the abducted students is ongoing. He said the girls were released around 3 a.m. through back-channel efforts and with the help of some friends of the country, and that it was unconditional. ''For the release to work, the government had a clear understanding that violence and confrontation would not be the way out as it could endanger the lives of the girls, hence a non-violent approach was the preferred option. ''Within the period when the girls were being brought back, operational pause was observed in certain areas to ensure free passage and also that lives were not lost,'' Alhaji Mohammed said. He said the number of the freed girls would be updated after the remaining ones have been documented, especially because the girls were not handed over to anyone but dropped off in Dapchi. REPENTANT BOKO HARAM TERRORIST SURRENDERS TO 22 BRIGADE TROOPS It is obvious that the fight against the insurgents is a decisive engagement as the Nigerian military is fully committed to the battle. This is paying great dividends as the insurgents could no longer take the heat. Operation Deep Punch 2 and other Operations have decimated and uprooted Boko Haram Terrorists (BHT) from their stronghold in Sambisa forest. One of the Shekau’s Amirs in Malumri village under Bama Local Government Area of Borno State, who realized how badly they have lost in their fight has surrendered to the troops. At the early hours of Tuesday 20 March 2018 Mallam Ramat Alamin aged 47 and Shuwa by tribe was intercepted by troops of 22 Brigade Garrison deployed along road Dikwa – Gulumba Gana. Mallam Ramat said he came to Dikwa to surrender himself to the troops due to the fact that Boko Haram Terrorists group could no longer hold itself and they are presently in disarray with little or no logistics to carry out their nefarious attacks. He disclosed that his personal weapon AK 47 rifle with Registration No: H3 2538, four AK 47 empty magazines and one motorcycle were hidden behind Government Teachers College Dikwa while trying to enter the town to surrender. He also said that, many of the terrorists are willing to surrender due to hunger and lack of basic logistics but are scared of the consequences. It is good and courageous for him to surrendered and would be recommended for Government de-radicalization programme. He gave out some information and encouraged other terrorists to take a cue from him and surrender in order to ensure lasting peace and stability in the North Eastern part of Nigeria. Odunayaw:Where do BHT want to hide with quite numbers of adopted school girls and unaccounted captured civilians. Now the question his do we really think the military do not know where does girls are......? Capital NO, they know team exact location. But there are some inderances or obstacle preventing them from carrying out a rescue mission. Apart from the just freed 105 Dapachi school girls few hours ago, there are more innocent civilians Bokoharam are using has Shields with heavily fortified perimeter. Secondly; conducting a rescue mission may proof very destructive for the image of the military if captured civilian used has shield dies during such mission. Don't let us forget the Amnesty international is always watching. They are not helping matters at all. They are only good at destroying the image of the military. for me I see them has a watch dog for the western and European Lords. We have drones that can track Bokoharam movement but there are more dialogue and less war-fare that is more productive in such issue. On the BH camp used in camping innocent civilians his known to the military; the issue can be described; just like grain in the bottle and a chicken trying to pick them up, there is nothing the chicken can do unless if it breaks the bottle. The consequences would be catastrophic . |
