It’s unfortunate that most women do not even think it worth studying basic self-defense and strategy. This is due to the fact that most think that learning martial art will turn them into super-duper muscular or threatening looking. This is not true. Martial art is different from weight lifting. Most women involved in martial art classes often look slim and feminine in appearance, you will never suspect unless they tell you.

Martial art have to do with flexibility, tactics, sharpness and knowing exactly the perfect part to launch a kick. It has nothing to do with building up muscles.


1. Fitness
It's a form of exercise to help you keep in shape. After childbirth, most women often becomes fat and out of shape. Enrolling yourself in a Martial art class will help you work up and burn off fats, and keep you in shape.

2. Protection
In this world of increase senseless terror, cruelty and violence, guess people who are mostly the victims of such hideous attacks? The women and children (weaker sex). The weaker sex are the most vulnerable when it comes to attacks. Attackers choose smaller, weaker targets to ensure their success, so its essential to know at least a few ways to break a hold or land a surprise knock-out kick.

3. Stress reliever
it's a good outlet for negative energy. No matter how hard the world had push you, when you a beating the snot out of a punching bag it feels like you are beating the hell out of the world (pay back time), this helps you relieve yourself of all negative energy compiled within you. After an hours session
of training, when you are completely drenched in sweat, tired and sore as hell, ready for a big meal and sleep there can be no more room for stress.

4. Built your personality
Martial arts promote confidence, humility, respect, health, spirituality, and companionship, among other things. Ask anyone who trains and they will tell you the same thing.

5. It's fun
In this uptight world we are in , you will find a lot of reasons to laugh again, maybe from watching your fellow trainers trying new stuffs or by trying a new stuff yourself. Does stretching can be funny a time. You laugh and cry at the same time. Another good way to release stress.

@GenBuhari, your post above is the reason boko haram can hardly be defeated in Nigeria. The propaganda machinery of Islam is top notch and your post above is one example.
It is common knowledge that all muslims believe that Islam will one day rule the world. Most muslims can't wait for that time to come and would give anything to see it actualized. As much as I know that there are millions of peace loving muslims, there is however, that desire within them to see Islam conquer.
There is therefore a clash of interest within all muslims, a desire for peace and a desire for islam to be propagated no matter the consequence. The result is that the average muslim end up discreetly supporting groups such as boko haram while at the same time denying them.
I read in a foriegn media that after the Charlie Hebdo attack in France, the local muslim population claimed that the attackers were not muslims but actually Jews who used spiritual means to make themselves look like muslims. If this is coming from muslims living in developed countries, then I am not surprised at your denial, nor am I surprised that muslims in Nigeria would claim that Christians were responsible for bombing churches in Northern Nigeria when boko haram claimed responsibility for those bombings.
And I cannot forget the muslim friend of mine, a yoruba muslim, who told me that the 9/11 attack was carried out by Jews. How?
The day muslims in Nigeria come up and openly accept that boko haram is an islamic militant group seeking to create an islamic state, that day boko haram will end. Until then we will continue to hear these bad news. Unfortunately, that day will never come

Learning self defense can help a great deal. We should start embracing any form of it.
