samguru: Today, the tyrant "Mr bear" entered our trading floor through the back door and desecrated our revered stocks that are preparing to reward the patient investors.
As at the time of filing this report many casualties were recorded as the bear was so aggressive to the extent of sparking a bloodbath on the floor.
No thanks to the treasury bill guys as they keep encouraging Mr. Bear to do more damages, but our Chairmen(Dangote cement and MTN) rose to the occasion and repelled the attack.
The situation has been put under control as All Share Index was navigated to the north by our defenders and territory reclaimed from the blood thirsty bear.
All the stocks that sustained injuries have been rushed to the hospital of BARGAIN HUNTERS and we expecting them back on the floor tomorrow healthy and hearty to join in the struggle to put an end to the reign of the wicked bear. Is this not erroneous? That 1 or 2 overweight stocks gained and skewed the index must not be misinterpreted to mean that there was a reversal of the bearishness! The picture is still very red. We wait at the bottom (assuming one knows where it is) |

TwiceASGiant: Hello All,
I would like you to share your knowledge and insights with me on this tax matter.
Assume that you're working for a multi-national company in Lagos and you periodically set aside around 60% of your net monthly pay and invest same into the shares of well-run companies listed on the NSE.
Assume further that at the end of ten years of working with the multi-national company, you decide to resign and incorporate your own company by being a distributor for the multi-national company's products.
However, before the incorporation of your company, you sold all your overvalued shares in your personal name and moved the proceeds into your newly incorporated company's bank account. In this case, would the person be liable to pay any tax to the Lagos Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) or the FIRS based on the proceeds from his liquidated shares?
Thank you. Dunno how it works in Nigeria. Why move personal funds to corporate account. In this part of the world, you must account for it to HMRC. You have to prove it is not payment for goods/services rendered by the company. |

Is that what we have become now? Maybe I am being too critical though...
Happy investing...
Sorry... My mistake... Happy gambling... Speculation is part of the dynamism in the market. In advanced climes, speculators full ground wella! Am sure you must have heard about the reddit-gamestop-robinhood brouhaha. What do you think it is? |

SA44LA44: Thanks for you response. It’s a bit clear now. So does this mean any sales of share that I make will be paid directly to my bank account. I use to think it will remain in my cscs account It stays with your broker unless you request them to pay into your bank account. I am also aware that there is an option for direct bank settlement by CSCS. |

yMcy56: Not enough info. Maybe you contact your broker on this, Or Send mail directly to CSCS for detailed explanation.
**Whosoever knows should help out here** When you buy any share, it takes T+3 (transaction date + 3 days) to settle in your CSCS* account. Additionally, the proceeds of share sales can be directly credited to your account by CSCS through one of the direct settlement banks * https://cscs.ng/about-cscs/Does this answer your question? |

It was first rumoured before the pandemic, I believe the pandemic slowed down the works. These things follow a process, it is only a matter of time before a bank amongst the FUGAZ comes knocking https://nairametrics.com/2020/03/14/update-reports-suggest-zenith-bank-considering-merger-with-union-bank/I have taken a speculative punt @ #6 here. We will then relate the outlook of Covid-19 to NAHCO future (short to mid term) business. I have been buying. They would normally provide a tidy CF. However, I am aware their FY2020 will not be fantastic, nonetheless, I am looking to the post COVID19 pandemic. |

Speculation on the dividend can as well drive cavertons' prices upwards...
Realistically, if I owned caverton, I'll not be expecting a dividend this year. If it happens great, and if it doesn't, I won't be surprised...
