Religion / Re: Question For Atheists And Religious People by bigsean(m): 6:10pm On Aug 22, 2011
Guys, I’m enjoying this debate and I’m pretty sure a lot of people are as well, lets keep it going by trying to refrain from “name calling” (that’s just a cheap shot) so we can all (at the very minimum), learn from each other, wink

Gbam. . .more like it.I was born a Christian and went 2 church every sunday with my Bible. At the age of 13,I begin to wonder where God is and how I'll know he does exist.I was tired of hearing what my pastor was teaching me and what my dad was teaching me as I wanted proof,so my much older friend shows me around the Bible where God spells out conditions to know he exists, since he is not going to be shoved around by his creature. . .so,I obey all he commands me 4rm his dos and don'ts. . .That was it

lol grin, seriously bro, u can do better! that's not subjecting what u've learnt to an objective test.

@Harakiri,false!!!!,ignorance would never let you find out, because atheist enjoy wallowing in sin, with the fear of not wanting any Supreme being watching at them, you guys are looking for excuse to modernize long dead traditional belief in Africa"mind you this all started in the west" life continues after death, clutch your bedcover over your head tonight and give it a deep deep thought.Get back to me with positive reply. GOD LIVES.
@ fyomer my dear friend, if u would allow me to enlighten u just a little.
hope u know Christianity is not the oldest religion oh, religions that senior it are alot grin, and u would be amazed how Christianity miraculously has alot in resemblance to older religions before it. "find out for your self and u will be amazed with the revelation".
also have u ever asked ur self why Christmas is celebrated on dec 25th and not any other day of the yr.

@fyomer, our "sin" is enlightenment! Period! Look around you. What positive attribute has religion brought in your community? Has it stopped crime, betrayals or wars? Almost every armed robber caught in Nigeria blames the "devil" for his actions (after a well planned attack failed). Family members and friends who are staunch church goers betray each other/hurt/harm each other on a daily basis. Our thieving leaders are ALL religious. The policeman who shoots innocent civilians to death goes to church on sunday to "praise god". Insane wickedness, callousness and vanity rules the land. Go to churches and 90% of the time, all you hear is money talk. I will not forget the day I heard a woman's testimony in church thanking "god" for abuja contract (we all know that means opportunity to steal govt funds) and the pastor and congregation where roaring with extasy. Only in Nigeria, will you see someone thanking "god" for visa to malaysia (of all places). It all boils down to poverty of the mind. Liechestein is the most non-religious country in the world and yet, they have one of the best economies, per capita income, next to zero crime rate and people have value for human lives (even their plants and animals have MORE RIGHTS than the average Nigerian). Compare that to Nigeria whereby you can find 12 churches in a street of less than 40 houses (my street has 15 houses and 3 churches!). Nigeria could easily pass as the most religious country in the world and yet, look at the exponential level of moral decadence. Need I say more?
Well said, !

u r trying hard to prove 2 us u ain't an atheist. . .if I may ask u,how is logic substantiated?does logic have a reference point? undecided
My dear friend, i want to believe u went to a good school and obtained a degree.
How did u convince your professors that you did your job or your thesis results are indeed what u proclaim? I'm sure u didn't just tell ur prof. "believe me it works" or "because Mr. ABC said it works". NO!!!
it is by testing, retesting and reconfirmation by the prof or a 3rd party. this is the logic i talk about. why are religious pple so certain about their religion, but are too scared to put it to the simple test of consistency, which btw is how we have progressed in this life from technological advancement and what have u. (i.e, we know gravity exists not because newton said so, but because he said it and we tested it and it actually exists, you can try the law of gravity everywhere in the world and it will not "never" prove u wrong. grin)

@harakiri,
i dont know u, but u have said alot of vital points which i strongly agree with.
i'm not an atheists but i do know that when it comes to religion, u can never have a logical debate with a religious person, cos they'll just throw in one or two lyrics about not doubting God or believing the bible in its entirety.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Arsenal Shaky Start Without Fabregas by bigsean(m): 4:27pm On Aug 20, 2011
Arsenal might be the only club in the world with the easiest problem,
1) Great Coach (No doubt, "although very stubborn"wink
2) Great established Name (not like mancity or others we've not heard of)
3) Passionate fans (almost to the point of blindness)
4) Great revenue (from stadium, league and location London!)
and many more i can’t remember, but u get the point already, So what’s the problem?
The management has chosen not to make winning trophies a priority, and that singular act has seen arsenal fall, and it only gets worse off from here (sad to say)

i just listened to 70% of that album and i don't like it at all.
I expect J. Cole to produce something 3 times better than that.

I cant deny the talent in J.Cole, but his album is taking forever to come out.

Lets not get it twisted, we're all Nigerians, there is a definite knowledge gap that is bridged and level of exposure you attain when u school abroad (in a top sch oh!, lol) that u can not get in back home, no matter your academic prowess. Now some of us may point to some of exceptions to my premise, that doesn't mean i'm not right. (that's why its called "exceptions" wink, think about it)
