Hey, Congratulations

If you ever want to get away, I am in Oxford, 45minutes drive from Cincinnati !

I wish you safe travels
CafeNoir:
Location: Lagos Embassy
School: University of Cincinnati
Funding: N21,000 +
Deficit: N23,000
Sponsor: Uncle
Department: Aerospace Engr

My initial fears
- Brother in the US
- Source of funding is Uncle not Parent
- Not married
- No travel history

I interviewed with the loudest VO there. I saw that guy reject so many people and the fact that his voice is loud did not help. Man, I was so scared, I wanted to shit my pants. Anyways...

VO: Good morning. Pass me your passport and your i-20
Me: Good morning, sir.

VO: Tell me about your program and your plans.
Me: I am going to the University of Cincinnati for my Masters's degree in Aerospace engineering and Engineering Mechanics. My research area is going to be on Advanced combustion methods and alternative fuels. This basically looks into unconventional modes of combustion that increase the efficiency of gas turbines and also reduces the emission of certain toxic fumes. Since I currently work with steam and gas turbines in the Nigerian Power Sector, I am aware of the challenges that plague gas turbines and I hope my master's degree will equip me with enough knowledge to at least solve some of these challenges. (I might have mentioned the application of Gas Turbines in the Power Sector too.)

VO types and types and types. He didn't even make eye contact with me.

VO : Which family member is funding the rest of your studies. (My i-20 has "Family member" as a source of funds)
Me : My Uncle, my dad's brother.

VO : And what does he do?
Me : He's a director at xxxxx and he owns some property in xxxx which he rents out for both residential and commercial purposes.

I thought he was going to ask for SOA, but nope, Jesu mi o je. grin grin
Na so baba separate my i-20 from my passport. OMO, as I see say he separate am, I burst smile grin grin.

VO: I will be approving your visa. Make sure you take your i-20 with you to POE. Yada yada yada... I no even hear again. I just dey smile like idiot.
Me: Thank you.

VO: Also make sure you get some jackets because Cincinnati gets cold during the winter.
Me: * for my mind "Oga, no worry about that one, I go pack plenty jacket"

Tips:

1. Go with all required documents and supporting documents. Don't pay attention to those photocopying street guys, they will confuse you with different document names and then ask you to print with N2000 per copy. Complete your documents at home and stay focused. No lose guard.

2. Be confident. I know, I know. It is easier said than done, but it is necessary. That place is designed to stress you. You will be hearing people get rejected. You will see people freeze out of fear, but do not let it throw you off. Don't be tempted to change your answer last minute.

Imagine, the first thing I heard when I entered the hall was someone's rejection. In fact, I saw someone froze in front of the VO. He couldn't speak properly, his voice was quivering, and I know it wasn't for lack of preparation but fear. O' boy, fear hook me for like the first 5 mins, but I had to just calm down. Start to sing in your head if it will help you calm down; it helped me calm down sha.

3. Prep like your life depends on it. I had like 15 mock interviews in the space of two months, no joke. Be able to answer certain questions in your sleep. Especially questions about your research area and its link to your career plans IN NIGERIA.

4. Of course, if you believe in any form of deity, pray to it. I can't deny the place of grace in my experience.
Anyway, I wish everyone good luck.

Why was it seized. If people know the reason or what transpired between you and the VO, they can provide you with specific advice that can solve your situation
francis00:
Actually no,it was seized for real at the point of interview,I had to apply for another passport. So can I still try USA from here in Nigeria or through other country

It won’t create an issue. Your new i20 will carry your new date except if you want to use your fall 2021 i20 for Visa and use Spring 22 i20 for resumption. That might raise a doubt.
Kennykayy:
Hello, anyone with any idea?
TravelRe: USA Fiancee (K1) Visa Thread by Bigsecret(f): 4:25pm On Jun 30, 2021
Thank you. I plan using Medicaid but I don’t know if it would be accepted ( it’s federal government approved though)
Treasureprince1:
nope, i think sivon or so, it’s an extension of Everight lab and that’s what your covid result will bear
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by Bigsecret(f): 7:25am On Jun 30, 2021
Go to GTB bank for your Visa fee. Just tell them you want to pay for Visa, they already understand
ifeanyimoses:
Please guys, how do I pay for my servis and visa fee, as I have researched online and can’t get what I’m finding, thanks guys.
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by Bigsecret(f): 7:23am On Jun 30, 2021
There should not be an issue. Your new i20 will State Spring resumption date
Kennykayy:
Hello house, My visa interview is next month for fall 2021 admission, but I want to defer my till spring 2022. Won’t it be an issue at POE seeing that I didn’t resume for the intended Fall semester?

P.S: I’ll be notifying the school of this changes and I’ll request for a new I-20

Congratulations Bro
osadestiny:
I want to say I am really glad and i don’t know how to express my joy. Because what God can not do does not exist. God has helped me and I am really thankful to Akeem Ajao, for always encouraging me and being by my side. I am indeed grateful for my fairheart. For all of the advice he has given me, I was not worried again after receiving all of this advices and counsels. Now I know even if we had made mistakes in the past, there is still a way to correct this mistakes, we should never be frustrated or try to give up because of this. I know I already shared my transcripts on my first, second and third interview. I will be sharing the fourth one today. The VO that interviewed me in Abuja today was the same VO that interviewed me during my 3rd attempt. Just a month ago after I was denied. Visa approved
Visa approved Abuja embassy 28th June 2021. Fourth attempt.

VO: pass me your documents, he was kind of typing in his system. He said sorry hold on.
Me: with boldness I was not really smiling at all. I said here is my documents. There is no problem you can continue doing what you are doing.
VO: checked my passport, so he said what did you went to do in the Democratic republic of Congo.
Me: I went to the DRC for a missionary service, which I did for my church for two years. This service is required for every male member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saint from the age of 18-25. Because of this service I was able to go to Kenya, Ghana and Togo. I then handle over my missionary photos and my missionary certificate for prove of the service.
VO: don’t worry I believe you. With a smile. So I see you are going to Missouri.
Me: yes I will be going to Missouri state university for my bachelor’s degree in chemistry and I am going to be concentrating on biochemistry.
VO: he checked his system and then he said how come so soon you reapplied again and how did you got this date seeing that there are no available dates?
Me: I found out that I don’t need to give up on my dreams, so after being denied on that last day. I went straight forward to purchase another mrv fee and then started my application again. So I had to request for emergency appointment. Because I came to find out that student going for f1 visas are been granted emergency request. So I had to do mine and I was given this date.
VO: nodded his head and then he said that’s fine. I see you have a scholarship of $5,000 how are you going to be paying the remaining fees.
Me: my parents have always been sponsoring my activities and they were the one who sponsored my missionary program and they will be paying for my education.
VO: okay what do they do?
Me: for my dad he works in a micro finance bank and he also has an automobile business in my home city whereby he deals on used Nigeria vehicles and my mom she is a pharmacist.
VO: okay so what will you do with this degree?
Me: first of all after the completion of this degree with the amount of knowledge I am going to acquire in this field. I will be able to pursue a career someday in becoming a biomedical scientist. Because i love to know how our plants and animals can resist diseases, droughts and other afflictions. I will then be able to carried out biological and laboratory test on tissue fluids so that clinicians can be able to diagnose and treat diseases in plants and animals.
VO: he kept on typing and typing for like 1 minute. He added my passport to the others and said I will be keeping your passport and I will be returning this i-20 to you, you need this at the point of entry. He thé gave me the white paper.
Me: I was like really surprise and I said thank you sir. God bless you.
VO: don’t worry you are good to go, just prepare your travel and always maintain COVID19 guidelines to always stay safe.

I left and I was really happy and was kind of confuse because it looked like a dream to me. I am really thankful to God and I can’t really express my joy.

Hello Hemstone, fill the name of the course as written on your admission letter. What you have on your i20 is the CIP code to represent your major
Hemstone:
PleaseI am still waiting for an informed answer on this. Thanks
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by Bigsecret(f): 11:20pm On Jun 26, 2021
If you haven’t booked a date in Lagos, it’s possible to switch to Abuja. You don’t have to pay another fee
Flexigenius:
Hello?
Good day!

I applied for an expedited date at the Lagos Embassy, and I’m yet to receive an email or any notification on my portal of an approval.

But I’ve been visiting the ‘reschedule appointment’ tab, and it’s now telling me that I’m approaching the maximum number of times I can visit the tab. Please, what does this mean? Is there even a maximum number?

And I noticed there are now earlier dates as 23 November 2021, as against 4 January 2024 that was available when I applied.
TravelRe: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 16 by Bigsecret(f): 3:42am On Jun 25, 2021
You know the reason you are switching. I think if you can explain it with the right expression, you shouldn’t have a problem. The VOs are humans too, they just want to be sure that you are a credible student
