For someone who is above 40 and cannot open a LISA account, Is this the same process using Cash ISA account?

Estroller:

For house purchase, you don't get to withdraw the money personally, it goes to your conveyancer who adds it together with your deposit for onward transfer to the seller or developer.

Retirement, I guess proof of retirement/attaining state pension age or something in that regard.

It can also be withdrawn if the account holder is terminally ill, this should be easy to prove.

What Visa type are you on? If on Tier 4 ...you must submit your BRP card with your application form but ensure you enclose a self-address stamped envelope that you track its return. If on Tier 2 or you have a British passport, then you can avoid this.

Excellent. You should get access to download and sign up on their app. It would direct you on how to setup the direct debit. Welcome on board, use wisely, don't spend more than you have on your bank account.

Thanks

Jump on the 1-2 yrs COS and do maximum time. The new regulation won't affect those already in before the implementation of the new rules. Staying on the old 5 year COS may affect the person when applying for ILR in the future because of the inconsistent work hours.

adekzy:

Help me alaysw this situation here,

I have someone on a 5yrs COS (entered March 2023) but her work shift is inconsistent (25-30hrs weekly). She later got another sponsorship offer 1-2yrs COS (because she's changing sponsorship) and the maximum working time of over 40hrs is 100% sure.

Is it advisable she stick with her old COS with less work time or opt for the new offer starting from January 2024.

With her renewal of new COS in 1-2yrs time (if she went with that option) won't all this inconsistent policy affects her application if her salary fails to meet the salary threshold.

Because they are different and calculate using different algorithms.

There are three main credit reporting companies - Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. Totally Money use TransUnion while Clears score use Equifax.

Each time you apply for and get multiple CC, it affects your credit score because they see you as wholly dependent on credits.

Also allow the CC companies get their money from you through the direct debit instead of paying it off manually but don't owe past the due date so as not to incurr charges.

cbn4main:
Elders in the house, I thought having a well managed CCs is a good way to building one's credit score. Why is my case different na? Here is my journey so far:

I and my partner arrived the UK in August last year. I tried to get CCs for both of us but were denied by AMEX, monzo and Lloyd's. Luckily for us, it didn't affect our Credit score. My partner is a full time worker while I was a student working part-time.
I decided not to apply again until last month.
My partner got accepted by two CC companies (zable and Capital one) while I applied for only Zable and got as well. Whenever we use the CCs we pay back latest after 1 to 2 days. We try to maintain a zero balance.

I recently checked our Credit scores on Transunion, they were OK. But to my greatest surprise, my partner's score on Experian had dropped by over 100 points within one month of using CC and reported a credit balance of just £28 out over £400 credit limit. While mine reported zero balance but dropped by only 1 point. My experian credit score remain Fantastic.

My question is, elders in the house, does it mean it's better not to have a CC? How would they drastically reduce my partner's credit score when im no get any due repayment (just £28 she spent and she paid back the next day or so ).

Make una help biko

You have got a very powerful visa though so make the most out of it now before all the rogbodiyan take over cheesy

Since you got some skills ...next would be to start updating your CV to match the UK format (if you haven't already done that) and begin searching for jobs in that line.

I hold a dependent visa
Searching for any job at all.
Can make many Nigerian dishes, data Analyst, hair stylist, Farmer. Was a public health worker before I left Nigeria. But don't wanna venture into that cos I lack the necessary trainings, so I need a job that requires little or no training so as to save up money for the necessary trainings. For now, I have no choice doing any legit work, hence it pays my bills. Thanks
Health / Re: Anti-malarial Medicine Blocked My Hearing by bigtt76(f): 1:28pm On Dec 23, 2023
What made you conclude you had malaria to start with? You ought to go for proper checks and stop medicating. e hard you to go to the hospital because of the cost but wen babe say con take kpekus for Sokoto, you nor go mind travel there from PH ....dey play with your health cheesy

Hard luck though but try and go for check up.

Whizzdom:
On Tuesday (21-12-2023), I was having serious fever, so went to buy an over-the-counter malaria drug and one flu tablet. The lady chemist told me to use 4 tablets in the morning and 4 in the afternoon for the malaria drug, but for the Flu medicine, I should use 1 tablet in the morning and at night. I took 4 tablets in the afternoon that day. On the next day, which is Wednesday, I took 4 tablets making 8 tablets in total plus 1 Flu tablet, A few hours after I took that medicine, I felt a sharp pain in my left hear, after which the pain subsided.

I am Welder by profession, I went to work that same moment, at work, I was using a grinding machine to grind iron to make iron smooth, the machine makes noise, but this day, as I was grinding, I could feel something in my brain or inner ear bringing buzzing sound or noise into my ear, after grinding that iron, I couldn't ear anything, all I was hearing is just noise.

The next day, which is today Thursday, I could hear people speak but they have to be loud, and my ears can't tolerate noise at all.

To go hospital hard me because I no gallant because of the series of test they will have me run which will expend my money I don't have.

My question is to the learned health practitioners in the house, should I give it time for it to heal on its own or I should go to the hospital for doctor's opinion on the matter.

Attached are the medicines for your scrutiny, I hope it is not one of those fake drugs.
Career / Re: Should I Japa Or Stay In Nigeria? by bigtt76(f): 11:45am On Dec 18, 2023
Online marketplace in Naija is not a viable business for now. Advise is invest 50% in your relocation US, Canada or UK in this order if what you studied is worth the pain.

Miracle112:
Hello Nlanders..
please I need advice on whether to relocate abroad or stay and invest in Nigeria .
I just graduated from the university and I’ll turn 28 in a few months time.
I come from a very poor family, I sponsored myself through the university as matter of fact I am the first graduate in the family.
I am here to seek advice from experts and enlightened nairalanders.
I have over 50m in real estate and I intend to sell 50% of my properties to raise funds for an online marketplace i intend to launch in Nigeria but I’m having a double mind as there’s no 100% guarantee that the business will succeed…
Since I just graduated from the university, should I rather use 25m to relocate abroad and further my studies or stay in Nigeria and invest the 25m ?
I don’t want to regret selling my properties to relocate abroad for studies.. I don’t even know if 25m would be enough to further my studies in any first world countries since I’ll have no support from family.

So my people, should I japa for studies with 25m or stay an invest in my fatherland?

For those wondering how I made over 50m as a fresh graduate. I didn’t make the money in 1 day or 1 month. I do land banking, crypto trading and farming.
