Bishop FEB Idahosa(Only son of late Archbishop Idahosa) celebrates 17yrs of marital bliss with wife, Laurie! Their marriage is blessed with 3 handsome boys!

Congratulations to a man of God who alongside his mum is doing a good job in improving the legacy his dad left behind.

Bishop FEB is well read, holding a Masters from ORU, America and currently pursuing his PhD. He is the President of Benson Idahosa University and also an entrepreneur and businessman! At 52, he looks way younger than his age and ensures he looks sharp for his wife.

I see, I doubt if it can be changed cos it attracts a separate payment if eligible for that option. You can contact the support team on the NI website directly.

Thank you for this, I understand all though and I have seen folks who spurn promotions just to maintain the benefits. The politicians however are not making this clear to their constituents, rather they are making it look as if the migrants would automatically stop working once they get their ILR (though I know they don't have the balls to say they are referring to the small boat guys). I doubt we have japa migrants getting some of these benefits, there may be though especially our people wey suddenly begin born as dem land 🤭😂

Zahra29:
Benefits/public funds are broader and more complex than what is being discussed on this thread.

For example, there are in-work benefits for those who are employed but on a low income and this includes financial support like housing benefit, universal credit and council tax reduction. Many people/families receive this type of financial support to "top-up" their earnings and many migrants on lower incomes will also require/be eligible for this.

There are other types of benefits such child benefit, child care funding etc - which can add up to hundreds of pounds a month- that the vast majority of working families also receive unless you're a very high earner.

Benefits go beyond the stereotypical "sit at home and claim job seekers allowance of £92 a week"

Have you tried the contactless option?

Good morning everyone, this is quite urgent and would appreciate every help. I need to renew my Nigerian passport latest in December (expires December) but the closest date is in February, how do I navigate this please?
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by bigtt76(f): 8:31am On Oct 26, 2025
Thanks for clarifying the amount. 🤣 £300 na hin de think say go sustain families who are living their lives jejely? They need a rethink and this forms a good storyline to submit as evidence to the consultation they've called on the ILR.

Goodenoch:
💯

Just to say it's not 300 per week ó it's 300 PER MONTH.

If you’re single and under 25 £316.98
If you’re single and 25 or over £400.14
If you live with your partner and you’re both under 25 £497.55 (for you both)
If you live with your partner and either of you are 25 or over £628.10 (for you both)

Yes it surprised me too when I found out.

So Joe Public thinks I'm planning that the very day after ILR I'll tell my wife "Honey we have arrived, it's time to stop working and start living off the British state by sharing our free largesse of 600 pounds every month" 🤣
SportsRe: Fubara Begins Total Reconstruction Of The Gowon Stadium by bigtt76(f): 2:23am On Oct 23, 2025
You think the intention is genuinely to rebuild the stadium? This is just settlement of interests. No good stadium can be rebuilt in 8 months 🤭

Mrexcell:
Why can't fubara give the job to julius berger so that they can build a standard stadium like the one in uyo?
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by bigtt76(f): 10:15pm On Oct 22, 2025
Really beats me when they keep talking about benefits after I left my high paying job for Naija, spent high to gain specialised knowledge, worked in my chosen career for 5 years on COS then after getting ILR I go no resign begin de claim £300 per week benefit? They must be out of their mind that I will chose to leave on the table millions to be made owning own business with peace of mind ILR brings with it.

Goodenoch:
The bolded is the bit that gets me every time. You think I paid 20k plus upfront for my one year masters (apart from application fee, IHS etc) as part of some grand strategy to sit down waiting for 300 ish pounds per month?

As how nau. What will I do with that?

Of course there are other benefits that people are entitled to but the fundamental point is why on earth would someone who paid such substantial sums be thought to be planning to become reliant on benefits?
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by bigtt76(f): 10:10pm On Oct 22, 2025
They can't risk the repercussions in their own citizens when they travel or live in other EU countries. Ordinary queuing up at the airport gates de vex dem how much having to be subjected to other things because they are not part of the ECHR 😂

HustlaOfLagos:
At the bolded, lots of talk about leaving the EHCR already in place

https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/729027

Last week Kemi Badenoch announced that the Conservative Party would take the UK out of the European Convention of Human Rights if they won the next election.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cm283eqje03o

I said on this thread that they will be left with only people who will claim benefits in record numbers if they keep attacking legal migrants.

Time will tell smiley

And when the French authorities took it literally by slashing the boats before they left for the waters, the same bits were complaining about human rights, makes you wonder what they want. They prefer legal migration to be cut... people that work and pay tax o, do they think people would leave high paying jobs to be claiming benefits. How dem wan take survive? Now their school fees are going to be raised again due to low international students enrolment 🫣

EducationRe: I Gave My SS2 Student A Physics Assignment, She Answered “masturbate” by bigtt76(f): 7:22am On Oct 20, 2025
Report to the principal

TechToyin:
Hello house,
I just need some advice abeg.

I recently got a teaching job this term — I’m in my early 20s and I teach Physics to SS2 students. I gave them an assignment on Gas Laws last week, and while marking, one of the girls wrote “masturbate” as her answer.

I was honestly speechless. I didn’t even know how to react. The school doesn’t allow flogging or any form of physical punishment, so I can’t just “discipline” her the old way.

I’m trying to maintain professionalism, but that answer really shocked me. I don’t know if she was joking, testing me, or if there’s something else behind it.

Should I call her aside to talk? Or report it to the principal or class teacher?
I don’t want to embarrass her, but I also don’t want to ignore it.

Teachers and educationists in the house, please, how would you handle this kind of situation?

brine:
Hmmn, I don't think that would be termed as "self-sponsorship" since the COS won't be issused to the company's director. But if you’re asking whether it can work: yes. I’ve seen small tech startups obtain a sponsor licence and successfully sponsor non-director employees.

Manchester, Leeds, Scotland and Newcastle all have a fair share of high paying roles that can be sponsored though.

Fred2020:
Current SWV salary threshold is above the country's median rate. Not many employers in places outside london, the south east or the big cities can sponsor.

Those who find sponsorship outside the big higher income cities are often those on jobs where the home office allows discounted salaries.

How many employers in Wales will cover the cost of sponsorship and pay over £40k pa?
TravelRe: Living In The Uk-life Of An Immigrant (part 3) by bigtt76(f): 11:27pm On Oct 13, 2025
What if a dependent on SWV is the one running the company and wants to use this as a vehicle to sponsor the main applicant to maintain the continuous path to ILR? undecided

That is - if the dependent is the director and self-sponsor, they lose the accumulated years to ILR and would have to restart counting?

brine:
Hmmn, I'm a bit confused. If you won't be a director of the company, why would you need to write business proposals or apply for company documents?
https://www.davidsonmorris.com/self-sponsorship-visa-uk/
Quoted from the link above:

I wasn't asked to verify the other director's identity by HO but they could ask or do further checks if the application is not straightforward.

If there are holidays in between, let her fly back for short holidays just to break the 180 days but then might need to explain the long absence, my thoughts undecided

luqken:
Hello fellas,

My child is back in Nigeria to finish secondary school, she's going to be out of the UK for more than 180days. I understand ILR eligibility requires 180 days presence out of 365 days, Will my daughter be impacted if I apply for ILR next year for the entire family? She would have been back before the ILR application.

Not exactly cheap though but very spacious compared to what you get in London. Of course you can still get cheaper ones(HMOs and shared) but cost of living generally affordable.

True that. Many if us 2ish3d we moved earlier than now but still grateful one moved when it happened. Those moving now, I feel for them but they are a source of comfort for those that moved before them - if you get the point 😏

HustlaOfLagos:
Fortune indeed favors the brave

Several years ago, I also didn"t move as "I No wan become 2nd class citizen for another man country" along with all manner of excuses all because I was relatively "comfortable" with how things were. I still have friends clinging on to the same mantra right now in Naija and honestly, it can work for some, while others will have to go through it the hard way

Folks that moved in 2008/2009 were already settled when I decided to leave in 2021. Nothing those guys didnt tell me then, they even gave me schools to apply that didnt cost much in the US etc but I didnt even bother to check them

When person wake up, that na in own morning cheesy

Yea if you are in Tech, most roles are remote for now and makes sense to live in the North doing that. West Midlands looks a bit pricey still cos of it's proximity to London

HustlaOfLagos:
Honestly, if I can get a fully remote role, I'll probably relocate to that area for a few years.

Maybe Leeds, Durham, Newcastle or York. Leeds and Newcastle more developed than the rest though IMO.

West Midlands is quite nice too smiley

SportsRe: Lesotho Vs Nigeria: 2026 World Cup Qualifiers (1 - 2) On 10th Oct 2025 by bigtt76(f): 7:41pm On Oct 10, 2025
Benin would be looking for a draw at least while Nigeria is a must win as they meet in the last match. Benin can go on with 18 points (if they draw) and 20 points if they win. Nigeria on the other hand has a maximum 17 points if they win and 15 points if they draw.

South Africa can get 18 points if they win and 16 points if they draw in their last game.

Rwanda has a chance of ending with 14 points if they win their last game and 12 points if they draw.

With the kind of goalkeeper I'm seeing today, Nigeria would have to park the bus to avoid a sabotage by Nwabali (same way Uzoho and Maduka both did us in that year) 😂

My money on South Africa and Benin for the two top position 😏
