All or most workers have bank accounts, why transition into something that isn't fully understood or adopted for transactions? The resultant effect would similar to what happened with the change of currency design attempt. These people don't seem to learn. Give the workers the option to select how they want to be paid and if you want them to use the eNaira option sell it to them with incentives to motivate them to use it. Don't force them. No one forces the use of crypto on another.

Please help me out. I got this email from a job I applied for. I got my first COS before April 2024 which I believe enables me to transition. Going through gov.uk website, I qualify for the lower going rate for the job. The job salary is more than the lower going rate but in their email they said it’s not high enough (which I don’t understand) and can only sponsor via new entrant, in which I do not meet the requirements.

“You have been verbally offered the above role and, as you are currently on a Sponsored Visa with your employer, you will need new Sponsorship with the Trust.
 
The role you have been offered comes under Standard Occupational Classification (SOC) Code 3111 Laboratory technicians.
 
This is a Medium Skilled role and, as the Trust do not require 3 years’ experience, we are only able to Sponsor this role as it is on the Temporary Shortage List.  The salary required to Sponsor means that we can also only Sponsor someone who is eligible to apply as a New Entrant, as otherwise the Band 3 Salary is not high enough to Sponsor”.

The bolded - Not sure that is correct, the reason for allowing 20hrs a week work for students is to enable them earn for part of their upkeep and not primarily to pay their fees. Their fees are meant to have been covered by the proof of funds which also includes for their upkeep and that of their dependents.

There is a reason why students are allowed to work 20 hours a week and full time when on holidays, some of these things were actually factored in including allowing dependents or spouses to work full time until recently but still PhD and research students spouses can still work full time.

These things are not as straightforward as we think, the western world financial system is a credit based system and where flexible payments are allowed this is the credit they are also extending to international students just like they allow domestic students to get loans to pay up sch fees and for up keep expenses. The shift in policy now is all related to the current mood and national discourse and has nothing to do with principles even financial principles and of course in due time we will see a shift again when in reality it will no longer make financial sense for the schools themselves but this idea that uk education is a luxury and not a necessity cannot hold as education remains one of the major export and forex earner for this country and they still need to compete globally if we don’t want to see more job losses and economic damage.

In a video currently circulating on social media, VeryDarkMan alleged that Wizkid used the phrase without permission, insisting that people often misunderstand what constitutes intellectual property.

According to him, not only music but also words and phrases can be legally sampled when trademarked.

“Na me get am. I spent close to one million naira to trademark my name and that phrase,” he said, displaying what he claimed were documents backing his ownership.

He further stated that his trademarks include “VeryDarkMan,” “VDM,” and the phrase “Don’t Play,” adding that Wizkid allegedly sampled the phrase without authorisation.

While speaking, VDM also mentioned that other Nigerian artistes, including Kizz Daniel, have used the phrase, which he described as proof of its widespread influence.

“For you to know how big ‘Don’t Play’ is, even Kizz Daniel don use am,” he said.

The activist did not stop at the allegation, as he also took aim at Wizkid’s fanbase, popularly known as Wizkid FC.

He dismissed attacks from fans and challenged them to grow stronger before confronting him, while boasting about the influence of the Ratel movement, which he described as a community of “nation builders.”

“Wizkid FC, make una join the fanbase of other celebrities wey I don call out before. When una don big well well, then una fit come for me,” he stated.

He added that Wizkid’s supporters were no match for the Ratel movement, insisting that his followers stood for accountability and social justice.

VDM’s claims have triggered mixed reactions online, with some users questioning the legality of trademarking common phrases, while others called for Wizkid or his management to respond to the allegation.

As of the time of filing this report, Wizkid and his team have not issued any official response to VeryDarkMan’s claims.
