Trying to do things to please "oyibo" might be a factor, we do that all the time here, you go to a restaurant, a white (or yellow or orange as the case may be) person comes 5 minutes after you, the waiters would keep you standing and attend to the other person, that's just an example,

What about the multiple parables of tortoise and co where a person is told to choose between a big pot and a small pot, the Big Pot would always contain killers and dangerous things while the small pot would contain only good things.

Those types of stories are another sure ambition killer

oladayo042: This changes nothing as long as the sample is representative of the population though this may not be the case here.
That's what I meant, a skewed sample (e.g subjects from a Home for the Mentally Challenged) can create results like this.

For the staff issue, I think hiring family and friends is a contributory factor.

I was asking myself too barely a month ago when I went to get chicken at Zartech in Port Harcourt (a lebanese business I thought was Nigerian previously) why most of the long-term successful businesses in Nigeria are owned by Indians or Lebanese, you just spoke my mind here.
We really have a lot to learn from them.

Stupid assumptions/ generalizations to make africans look sub-human as usual, no one came to measure my IQ, or that of my family, or friends.
Rubbbish!

Yes it is, if you have a market, I loaned my fiancee some money just 2 months ago to start-up and the order she made this thursday was worth over 8 times the amount of money I borrowed her initially which she has since repaid.
She makes an average of 300 - 400% profit per Item.

I was thinking you where about to talk about the culture of giving handouts to nuclear, extended and unrelated family once its sensed that you have a little cash, or "something for the boys (bribe)" which has become culture in Nigeria, or the "chieftancy titles" to make you donate to your village, chairman of the occassion positions, and so on, those would put a tight noose on any business, for the issue you mentioned I don't hesistate to sack and pay off workers if there are any financial issues, most times the workers removed are even a contributory factor.

The poster, and his co-horts have a very disgusting mindset. They're the problems with Nigeria.

Amaizu: Bought my Peugeot 406 in April and have been studying it since.Its the 1.8L variant(assembled by PAN in 2006).it seems that the former owners tampered with the fan.It has double fans and these fans are always on.Having read various contributors on the issue of engine over cooling,i want to restore the fan to the manufacture's settings but the electricians i have met,warn me about doing that.The said the thermostat may not be working and the vehicle may start to overheat.How do i confirm that the thermostat is working.
Amaizu.
First of all make sure the thermostat is there, then let them do the proper connection, start the engine and leave for like 10 minutes, or till the temperature guage gets to 90, if the fan comes up at that point, you are good to go, if it exceeds and starts giving the temperature warning in the dashboard, immediately switch off the car and check your thermostat.
Ikenna said something earlier about boiling the thermostat in water but I can't remember where.

The same amount of money a person would spend on drinks on a typical friday night clubbing, that's what is being given as compensation for human life. How long are their families expected to survive with this?
Career › Re: Are White Collar Employees More WASTEFUL Than Their Entrepreneur Counterparts? by bigx(m): 7:19am On Oct 25, 2012
I would say ideally, entrepreneurs are trained by the School of Hard Knocks to conserve cash for better cashflow and stretch/re-invest every single naira for future profits, but really as was said, it all boils down to personality, taking me for example, I love pretty things, gourmet food, designer perfumes, designer clothes, spontaneous vacations and its really really really hard controlling spending on this, I've to make conscious effort to avoid being wasteful. So its the individual and his/her level of self control/ tastes that determines this.

yemi2plus2: answer me o...hw u go read on ur own and get A1 4 maths? Talk na i dy wait.
E dey happen everyday. You can do it too with dedication. Maths is very simple (at waec level) just know the reasons why and how formulas are derived and you would never need to cram, I was always good at math right from primary school though so probably it was a factor too.

And.... people dont get A1 with expo

differential = cos theta
integral = -cos theta + c (where c is a constant)

SS1 - Genius
SS2-3 Compound-Idiot

I skipped classes and studied math on my own for WAEC and had an A1, everyone attending the compound-idiots class failed. He had no idea what he was teaching and yet was so full of himself!

WHOA!!! Sweet eye candy, I looove!

On a sidenote though, I wonder why people just thrive in poverty, roughly 15 years ago we had only tokunboh cars on the road or veeeeeeeeery old cars, anyone buying one of this type here was sure to make it to the front page of the soft-sells, timaya, ay and psquare are not politicians or drug dealers or scammmers. To those hating, this should be a push to get out there and work hard + smart.

For the rest talking about "tomorrow's copper" and millionaires driving their personal BMW's, why didn't you mention millionaires owning million dollar yacths?

Your mind is what would keep you where you are.
Car Talk › Re: Peugeot: Cars With Attitude! by bigx(m): 3:05pm On Oct 18, 2012
My 307 ignition (abi kickstarter) fuse keeps getting burnt, when I turn the key to ignition position then try to start, it doesn't respond at all, yesterday I changed it thrice, I'm scared of going to mechanics for electrical issues before they butcher my car, anyone knows what the issue might be? The last time a fuse was burning incessantly it was one of the wires to the fuel pump that had eroded so it was touching the car chassis and making the fuel pump fuse burn.

2sexy: use this================> [size= 10 pt]AIDA

Imagine advertising food to a group of hungry people and to a mixed group of overfed, satisfied, hungry and almost dead people.
That's why we talked about targeting, 5 people converting out of 100 is a 5% conversion rate, 5 people converting out of 10,000 is 0.05%, while you might make the same amount, there is waste of resources throwing the ads out widely.

I would advice you pay for an ad using the "aida" theory and let us know what your response is, the demographics are just too varied.
