In all directors representing seven companies including Eterna Oil and Nasaman Oil Services Plc will have chargesfiled against them before a Lagos High Court today. Businessnews learned that the companies and their directors will be charged before Justice Samuel Candid-Johnson, Justice Lawal Akapo, Justice Habeeb Abiru, Justice Adeniyo Onibajo andJustice Dotun Adefope-Okojie, all selected by Lagos Chief Judge, Justice Adeyoola Phillips. The EFCC is said to have chose Lagos for the prosecution of the marketers due to the fact that the crimes occurred at Lagos ports, and furthermore most of the companies are registered with business addresses in Lagos. The EFCC in the course of their investigation is said to have identified marketers who intentionallycollected subsidies fraudulently from government. The EFCC uncovered the fraudsters through an audit check which revealed that the bill of ladings marketers submitted to their offshore banks for which their Letters of Credit (LC) were opened with Nigerian banks were quite different from the bill of ladings submitted to the Petroleum ProductsPricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA) for subsidy claims. This alerted the EFCC to the Fraud and when they approached the marketers, they admitted to the shady practices. The EFCC is also said to be on the verge of prosecuting an additional set of subsidy thieves in the form of petroleum products marketers who claimed subsidy on fuel imported onboard ghost vessels. Ghost vessels are decommissioned ships that are no longer operational and could not have possibly been used to import any cargo into the country. According to a source close to the investigation, “As the EFCC concludes its investigation on other marketers, it recognizes that some of the marketers are flight risks due to their ownership ofprivate jets. “As such the EFCC has partnered Interpol and State Security Services Agents in order to ensure that none of these marketers escape the long armof the law.” http://premiumtimesng.com/mobile/business/6190-efcc_to_arraign_pdp_chairman_s_son_for_subsidy_fraud.html The first batch of subsidy thieves will be in the dock Tuesday Barring any last-minute change in its plan, t he Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) will on Tuesday, at the High Court of Lagos, arraign the first batch of companies believed to have defrauded the country in subsidy claims totalling over N2.7trillion. A source familiar with the matter told PREMIUM TIMES Monday night that at least six company executives including Mahmud Tukur, the son of the National Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Bamanga Tukur, would docked to answer questions over their involvement in the monumental fuel scam. Mahmud is the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Eterna Oil Plc, which was indicted in the report, and listed by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) among companies that reportedly benefited from the Petroleum Support Fund (PSF) Scheme, but defaulted in their tax obligations. The other board members of the company, who might be put in the dock in the absence of Mahmud, include the former Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) presidential running mate to Nuhu Ribadu in the 2011 election, Fola Adeola, who is the Chairman of the Board; Boyi Tukur and Ojo Michael Ade, owner of Elizade Motors, a Toyota dealership. It was gathered that the other companies, whose proprietors are to be arraigned, include those owned by the former PDP Chairman and immediate past Chairman of the Board of the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency (PPPRA), Ahmadu Ali |

dasparrow: To be honest with you, kobojunkie is saying the truth though. I live in the states and it was announced on the news that the USA is facing the worst drought in 25 years. They even joked that people should start doing the 'rain dance' or pray for rain to fall because if we don't get enough rain soon, we in the states should expect an increase in food prices. So, na so we see am o! We are living in difficult times and it has nothing to do with being pessimistic or optimistic. It is about being REALISTIC bros.Pls what concerns us with drought at d US We have plenty of rain here....I don't even understand you and kobojunkie concerning dis thread!! Govt is trying to reduce the large quantity of wheat and rice imported into nigeria every year by substituting wheat with casava and being self suffcient in rice production and u people are talking about drought in d US Is dat not even good news to nigeria! |
Kobojunkie: Una never start. The recent drought in the US and parts of the world is yet to hit you all.what do you actually gain by being a pessimist it might start reflecting in ur life |

Contrary to claims that the dreaded Boko Haram Islamic sect is a faceless group, Sunday Trust has exclusively gathered that there was indeed a high-level discussion between a government delegation, led by Governor Kashim Shettima of Borno State and 11 field commanders of the Boko Haram, held under top secrecy and amidst intense security at the Lagos House, a government lodge for visitors, in Maiduguri. An impeccable top security source revealed to Sunday Trust in Abuja that the meeting took place in early May 2012, at the instance of Governor Shettima. But in attendance was a representative of Inspector General of Police Mohammed Dikko Abubakar, Borno State Director, Department of State Security Service, the state’s Commissioner of Police, an intelligence officer from the military along with the state deputy governor, Mustapha Umar Zannah. All these top government functionaries were said to have been physically present at the talks. The source told Sunday Trust that: “One of them was named Sheikh Asheku, a leader of the Boko Haram, who is believed to be a field commander. I don’t know if he is in charge of Borno. “I think he is the one contacted by the governor’s agents. Based on an understanding, the Boko Haram leaders checked into one hotel in Maiduguri. Asheku was the first person to check in. The others came in at different times and were moved into different rooms. Their leader called later in the evening and disclosed their location. After that, one white air-conditioned bus was sent to them, while our security men kept surveillance, monitoring every step, in case they were up to some games.” The source explained further that, “I learnt that initially, they were very worried for their safety,” the source continued. “I don’t know how the governor was able to convince them. I think they just took the risk because amongst them was a wanted man. All the security officers saw him, but there was no way he could have been arrested because the governor made everybody to agree that the sect leaders must safely leave the venue of the meeting. During the meeting, the governor interacted with them and asked them the conditions under which they would halt the bombing and killings.” Sunday Trust learnt that the field commanders said they wanted their mosque, which was destroyed in the 2009 crisis in Maiduguri, reconstructed. They also wanted the killers of their leader, Mohammed Yusuf, to be prosecuted and their properties seized or destroyed by the authorities to be returned or built back. The field commanders added further that they wanted their wives and family members who have been arrested to be released, and their freedom of worship, based on their ideology, guaranteed and respected. The Boko Haram members further demanded that their members who are under custody be released. According to Sunday Trust’s source, the field commanders agreed to drop their arms after their Number One Imam may have been reached. The governor was said to have promised that government could pay for every gun returned by the fighters, and that they will be trained and given funds to start any business of their choice. The governor was said to have promised that the Boko Haram mosque will be rebuilt and their houses given back to them, but as for other demands, they were beyond his office as governor of Borno State. He was said to have, however, promised to contact the president on those issues. “But there was a problem along the line,” the source pointed out. “One of the security agencies, the JTF’s representative, was not comfortable with the talks. Maybe, they didn’t get orders from the Chief of Army or Defence Staff. But like you know, soldiers are trained to destroy opponents. They regard anyone that carries arms against them as enemy. They are not trained to go into discussion with their enemies; they only crush. “But I think the problem in Nigeria is that security agencies have no synergy. We operate at different levels; sometimes, we even sabotage each other. There is rivalry at all levels between soldiers and police and between police and SSS and also between SSS and the military.” The security source remarked that “if government wants dialogue with Boko Haram, all it should do is to assure the sect leaders that their security will be guaranteed.” Sunday Trust gathered that before the meeting, heavily armed security agents, police armoured tanks were deployed to the Lagos House, and visitors were prevented from lodging there 24 hours to the meeting, as security officials took control of the entire building, to forestall any funny game by the Boko Haram field commanders. Checks at the police headquarters in Abuja did not yield much fruits as no top official was prepared to speak on the issue. Source: Sunday Trust |
I don't get it! am lost here...wat did stf actually went to those villages to do ![]() Did they go there to plant cameras and microphones like big brother house! To now watch d fulanis like biggie in d house! |
Plateau's military operation is near-complete, as inhabitants of four of the five villages are cleared to returned home Residents of four of the five Plateau villages, both Fulani and Berom, who were evacuated last week are now free to return to their houses, except those of Mahanga where the military operation is still going on, an official of the Special Task Force has told PREMIUM TIMES. Our reporter witnessed the STF deputy commandant briefing some Berom and Fulani leaders on the progress of the military operation which saw residents of Mahanga, Kakuruk, Kuzen, Maseh and Shong 2 evacuated from their communities and moved to temporary camps. The operation, meant to chase out "murderers and criminals" suspected to be hiding in the villages, is about 80 per cent complete, officials said. But residents of Mahanga are to remain in their camps until the operation is completed. The Federal Government had last week ordered the military to deploy maximum force to flush out insurgents who were launching sporadic attacks on villages in Plateau state, killing scores each time they strike. In compliance with the order, the defence headquarters served signal that soldiers would raid locations believed to be hideouts of the suspected criminals launching the attacks and destabilizing the state. To avoid what the defence headquarters describedas “collateral damage”, inhabitants of the five villages were asked to move into a temporary camp provided by the state government. Residents of a few other villages - Kura-falls, Kuzukand Sharuk, Rim of Gashish and Bachit – were allowed to remain in their communities but advised should to be “careful of their movement within the area and avoid places of military operations. http://premiumtimesng.com/mobile/metro/6150-fulani_free_to_return_home.html |
playboy19: Absolutely right. But that is in the US of A. The probability of that happening in Nigeria is so slim you need microscope to find it. The reason;Let's believe in nigeria for a change! If we keep being negative about nigeria! Wats d essence of living in d country! Wats d essence of living without hope!! I dnt believe nigeria is dat bad...yes we have problems but we can overcome it only if we don't stop believing dat we can overcome! I will ask dis again wat is d essence of living in d country or being a nigerian when u believe that we will never get better...its like going to d hospital but believing u will never get well! Just die now! |
playboy19: Sir, do you live in that country, Nigeria? Have you ever invested $10,000 and above in that country? If you answer yes to either of these questions, then you are risk taker.I don't think apple investors knows about d day to day running of the company! But they smile to bank every year! |

playboy19: Please be my guest. Call me anything you like, long as i still have my guap in my pocket. And first let me tell what i always tell my friends about investment; Not all opportunities are GOLDEN! And to answer your your question. If i'm getting to buy the "Controlling Interest" ofcourse i wont hesitate. Afolabs101: A company can allocate all or part of their offering to potential investors chosen by them. The bill says NNPC will sell 30% to Nigerians, that may be three Nigerians or three hundred. It is at NNPC's discretion.Whether they are transparent or not money will be made for investors!! Do you think MTN is transparent? Do you know d under table deal they did to get iran license!! They sold arms to iran...plus bribe they gave! And they still make a lot of money for its investors...So dnt come and preach transparency for me here |

playboy19: Excuse moi sir, which planet are you from? Well, i believe as a shrewd investor, you must first do a thorough dissection of the company you're investing in, then next is to calculate your risk (Risk Assesment), then next is determine for how long you want to hold on to your investment... Please, it will be kind of you if you could do us all the favor of publishing NNPC's success profile and why it is wise to invest in them in terms of risk?Let me ask u a question! So if u are given an opportunity to buy into NNPC u will hesitate about it Pls dnt make me call u dumb! |
Nairaland and their monkey attitude! Make una dey there dey doubt, while ur fellow young entrepreneurs will be buying into d company...that's how una doubted the youwin program and at d end of d day so many of ur fellow nairalanders with no Godfather got d grants. Whenever an ipo comes up at d nigeria stock exchange everybody is allowed to buy as long as u buy earlier! Its a first come first buy basis...d worst dat will happen is dat there will be over subscription and in dat case it is either they absorb d excess funds or return back d money to late subscribers! In most cases they absorb d money and inject d fund into new projects...if 30% was worth 1billion dollars it will now be worth 1.5 or 2 billion dollars....beside nnpc needs lot of money to develop new projects. So u guys should just stop being stupid for once. |
You no do they will complain! You do dey will still complain...nairaland sucks!! SMH |
