8. Continue working until you get to your desired length. 9. To finish, sew the thread tightly through your clasp several times to make sure it is secure. Weave the thread back into your work and tie two or three knots along the way and cut off any excess thread. 10. Repeat Step 9 to attach the clasp on the other end using the 12” tail you had in Step 2. You can make thick ropes using bigger sized beads, but you will have to use thicker thread to ensure the chain does not break. You can also vary the design of the outside beads by using different colors or sizes. Be creative and post your samples/finished work... |
7. After every set of beads you add, “push” the outside beads to the side, so you can see the core beads to work on. After a while, a spiral of outside beads will be visible going around the core beads.
|
|
6. Go through three of the CA beads that were already in your work PLUS the last CA bead you added in Step 5. You could also pick up the beads, don’t bring it down the thread yet, using your needle go through the last three core beads (CA), then bring the beads down to your work AND then go through the CA bead that you last picked up.
|
5. Pick up one CA and three CB beads. Bring the beads down to your work.
|
|
4. Go back through the four CA beads
|
3. Pick up four Color A (CA), and then three Color B (CB). Bring all seven beads down to the stopper bead
|
1. Cut out two arm spans of the thread (or as much as you can comfortably work with, without it getting tangled). Thread onto your needle. 2. Use a bigger bead (red bead shown in the picture) as a stopper bead to prevent your work from slipping off the thread. Make sure you leave a tail of about 12” (you will use this to attach your finding/clasp)
|
Spiral Rope – this can also be used as a strap for a beaded purse. You will need two different colors of seed beads. Size 11o seed bead color A (CA) for the core Size 11o seed bead color B (CB) for the outside Size D beading or Nymo thread. You can also substitute a very thin fishing line (monofilament) which you are able to thread on a needle. I am using size 11o, but you can use any size as long as they are the same. Once you have mastered the technique, you can use different sizes for the core and outside.

SerenaT: Pls can some1 just explain this design biko. You can recreate this design, by breaking down the components, and then join them together with the light color beads...It is basic RAW with some creative turns to make the bends in the center sections. At least, that is how I would attempt it... |
@Toynex: Yes...but the one I am teaching is the Single Spiral Rope...the picture is just a modification of that. |
ibiboss: Pls can anybody teach me how to make dis. I just got dis from my customer asking me to do itThis looks like four strands of triple spiral ropes... |
Suggestions for new people just joining the board: You can search the previous pages by entering what you are looking for in the "Search" box at the top of the NL page. You can have the Search feature limit the search to pages in the "Fashion" section. For example, if you are looking for "tubular design", you can enter that in the "Search" box at the top of the box, and click on "Search". You can then limit the resulting number of pages shown by specifying the section, in this case "Fashion", so it will only bring results that might be found on this part of the forum If the tutorial you are looking for was before the NL crash, it may not find anything...but you can search first before asking... Taolaventures: Gud evening everyone. Am new here and I want u to please teach me how to make Abuja connection bead necklace. Thank uHere are the directions for Abuja Connection Umutops: I hope dis will help. Dat if u read carefully ooo |
SEAme: My work in progress bead. Thanks to everyoneYour necklace looks very nice! I especially love the color. But a humble suggestion: since you are using seed beads, some of the beads may not be the same size. In that case you can keep aside the beads that are smaller/skinnier, so that your work has a consistent size of beads. The set aside beads will come in handy later for other projects where you might need smaller/skinnier beads. |
TOYNEX: Good day every one, how today parry? I dey sure say una chop Belle full.... hope nobody leave hin car for parry take leg waka go house sha.....I volunteer to teach spiral rope, if it has not been done already...

onose01: Bimbam, u seem to know a lot. Abeg choose design come teach us o.@Mama Twins: I would love to teach, but since I was not here at the inception, I wouldn't want to repeat what has already been covered. And since NL crashed, it is difficult to go back to see the list of what has already been taught. If you think of something, let me know, if I can teach, I will teach... Even if I don't teach, giving people more info on what is being taught here by others can help them to expand on their skills and creativity... |
SerenaT: Dunno if you guys like this design. Its called forest. I can take it if permited. In the spirit of using correct names for lessons being taught, this design is a combination of RAW (Right Angle Weave) for the base and Coral Fringe for the bottom dangling part. Excellent and challenging choice, SerenaT! |
SerenaT: @ iya ibeji. GM maam. How was ur nite and the twins? Thanks for the design but I have this question. What if I want to make mine as wide as this?I mean the width not length plsThe one she taught is in circular form. This one looks to be flat form. I guess to start you wouldn't join to form a circle. But onose01 will be able to explain better. |
outstandingjk: It's a spiral stitch work, u can try using d internet to search for peyote spiral stitchEither one could also be bead crochet... the stringing of the beads at the start will determine the pattern. |

Very in...God bless you! |
Bookhurla: Good morning my people, pls can anyone put me tru how to join this design to form a necklace.I ve tried my best, but I am unable to join it.Can you post a pic of the front and back of one of the individual pieces, maybe I might be able to assist? Your options might include using wire, ribbon or using a narrow width of RAW beading...it depends on what the back of the individual piece looks like. |
Tushmum: Please Coach, what is Fullness?@EfosaFullness is the amount of gathering around the waist. If you want a lot of fullness, you use more fabric to make more gathers. In this case, she is using 36 inches, if she were to use 72 inches, the fullness will be double that of the 36 inches. HTH |
phunmykay: Hu everyone n how has been our day?I hope we are ready for my nameless design but if anybody has a name for it,suggestions are welcom. The stitch is basic netting. The finished necklace would be known as a net collar or choker depending on the length. A humble suggestion: can we use the proper names for the supplies (if it is known)? This way people who are following from other parts of the world can follow along and be able to get supplies easily without needing pictures or a translator. Also, newbies can do a Google search on an item on the supply list and see other designs or how to use a tool, etc. Just a suggestion... Great job so far everyone....

SerenaT: Am sowi I didn't submit this last assignment. I didn't evn get anytin on it at all. The last I understood was the 0.3 wires and I have them rolled out. But the rest na miracleIt looks like the beads are sold like that... the individual beads look too small to be used to make a beaded ball, and looks like they might have been glued onto a bigger bead at the centre...imho |
MaryamTanya: Pls, this is a suggestion if am permitted. Pls teachers should not stall works for too long. It makes some student get tired of waiting.I don't think it is the teachers stalling... they are waiting for the students to post pics of their "homework" so they can be sure the lessons are coming over loud and clear. |
mamatwo: Are there no darts in this dress- breast or waist?OP said "Remember it's a shift dress u can choose to shape it a bit like I did or leave it straight." I guess there are no darts... |
