One way to approach this reasonably is from an individual angle.
The individual has to be clear about their wants and knowledge of what it will cost them.
This has no one size answer, it depends solely on what the individual decide for themselves.
Its important the individual gets informed on the benefits and consequences of each choice. It affords them time & agency to deal or bear with whatever cost comes with the choices made.
Any one of those choices can be placed above the other with valid backing reasons. Just be aware of the advantages and disadvantages of picking one over the other.
If you want to finish at the top of the mountain of your chosen career path, forget marriage, this one I'm sure of. You can make do with late marriage and adopted kids if that appeals to you.
Getting to the top and being there requires a huge amount of time dedicated towards it Which will definitely encroach into any family time you plan to have.
Combining both means sacrificing being at your best in any of them. Regardless, An average effort in both areas can bring in satisfactory results.
You mustn't be the greatest in your field or at home to make an impact. A positive one preferably. |

Coolgent: He noted that the traditional way of using the military might in tackling violent extremism by the insurgents had not recorded much success and advised that the Federal Government should involve the families and religious leaders in tackling the menace of violent extremism in the country. - Deputy Dorector NDC
So if Nigeria is under attack from another country; we should involve enemies familiar to resolve the war too? We are finish! That's not the takeaway. Tackling terrorism effectively would be a mixture of social engineering and a more tactical military engagement. Using force will only strengthen them, how may of them do you want to kill? They will spurn new warriors and this shit will never end. Its the ideology behind their actions that needs to be killed. What does an individual have to believe to engage in terrorism? This question is what needs to be answered before any more action |

wallezee: Thats simply because Christianity is doing more harm to our society than Islam does. A mosque built anywhere in Nigeria technically belongs to that community where it’s built, and not to any particular individual which is not the same with churches. A Muslim who’s new in any neighborhood in Nigeria, will simply ask if there’s any mosque where he/she can pray when it’s time for prayers but a Christian will like to know if a particular church is around, like other churches aside from his/hers worships a different God. And before you come for me, I’m a Christian. Christians are the problem not Christianity. There will always be people who'd misrepresent a group or collective and you cant base your judgement of the system on a misbehaving few. Churches are denominational unlike mosques. Thats not a problem on its own. Variances of a commodity strengthens the entire category. Denominations are built on nuances, Christianity permits a liberal approach to the interpretation of its holy book unlike the qoran. Such approach will tend to produce multiple variances of the same core idea. People just find what they are most comfortable to or believe the most and follow it. The problem isn't with religion or its systems but its followers running a corrupt version of the gospel in their heads |

Newnas: See your life? You can't construct a single sentence without bitterness, hate and insult. So much for religious tolerance and love.
By the way, polygamy is a Yoruba culture. Your fathers have been marrying dozens of wives before Islam entered your lands.
Also, we know what your hypocrite pastors do. They keep one wife and be grinding choir members and church ushers. The church is synonymous to promiscuity. And it has been so since the days of gay Catholic priests who gay on teenage boys.
It isn't mandatory to be polygamous in Islam so STFU! You accuse one of hate speech towards a religion and then turn around and attack his with the same weapon. What are you trying to achieve here? |

wallezee: How did you come to that conclusion that their mission in life is to kill those who are non Muslims? I’m guessing you’ve been reading a lot of the Quran, cause I don’t see a reason why you would attribute the behavior of some few to an entire religion. Anyone can wake up any day and do all sorts of shit in the name of religion, that doesn’t mean they are genuine believers in that particular religion. I can bet you’ve been around Muslims, can you tell me if you know of any particular Muslim that has blown up anywhere, commit murder or rape in the name of his/her religion? Those you’re making reference to are nothing but just criminals and extremists. You have to make room for "interpretations" for your argument to be complete. Someone can genuinely believe in a religion and indulge in violence for its sake. All they have to do is misunderstand or misinterprete what is written. |

Charleys: Where polygamy is rampant, young males are left without sexual partners. Simple math shows that in a population of 10 men and 10 women, if 1 of the men has 4 wives, that leaves 6 single men. Scale that up to entire states, and you can see this playing out across the North.
So wars and destabilization give young men a chance to kill potential rivals (ie, other men) and seize or rape women.
polygamous societies suffer “higher rates of murder, theft, rape, social disruption, kidnapping (especially of females), sexual slavery and prostitution.”
One well-known passage from the Hadith is the reward of 72 virgins given to a martyr after death. This appeals directly to a young man’s sexual desires. Martyrs are not promised a well-paying job, political peace, or economic security. They are promised sexual partners.
This is my opinion. This opinion is worthy of discussion. The assessments here are really interesting. Which study did you get the polygamous society stats from? |
