destinie2019: You have to be open to the freedoms of others. You can't just be elected and become the determinant of what people can or cannot do. An elected president is not an emperor, or a king. Certainly not a god or a deity. This is democracy! Its okay to determine what people should do and not do. That's what a law is basically. Dos and Don'ts Dictating what constitutes freedom of speech is one area that can easily degenerate into tyranny. Allowing people to speak their mind is less dangerous than not allowing people say what they have in mind. At least now I know what you're thinking. How do you determine what should be considered as hate speech? Who gets to define what hate means? Its a daisy pot to cook in. |

pfadom: Only an irrational mind will find nothing wrong with his statement. Reasonable people don't leave loop holes for mischievous elements to twist their words.
He actually created avenues for such twists. Otherwise, what connection exist between the release of Dasuki/Sowore and gunmen attack on GEJ home in Bayelsa? Easily!! He shouldn't have made that statement at all. Its nothing but a conspiracy theory, not something to throw around lightly. Its unguarded and manipulating the context to save face seems even more foolish. Just apologise. |

the premise of catching up to your friends will only hold you down.
I don't see a win in it.
you may never catch up or the shallowness of the pursuit hits you with a darker depression when you catch up.
there's no win here.
my advice is to create a job for yourself if there isn't any that wants you.
how do you do that? By learning a skill. Learn a skill and run it like a personalized service.
Find a way to use the contacts on your phone or your followers on SM, that's a database people barely utilize.
or better still use mathematics to your advantage
Aim to submit 100 CVs in the next 1 month, let's see if the devil is that dilligent.
Forget about your friends, they are on their own journey. what matters is the quality of the journey.
You have enough intelligence to live a remarkable story.
They are no report sheets afterlife, all we have here is all that matters. Don't spend it worrying about a shallow catch up.
What makes you so sure your friends are a reliable measurement for your success or path? |

Iamgrey5: No sir
Well known is not popular by default.
A person can be well known and notorious instead of being popular
A person can be well known and people maybe indifferent about him or her.
A person that is well known and popular would receive positive recommendations from the people as specified in the definition you posted earlier.
"regarded with great favor, approval or affection especially by the general public" My bad. I was wrong, I had to go do some reading on it. You're correct. one step away from ignorance....lol |

I clearly wrote that Sowore was well known but not popular in my initial comment.
So I don't know why we are still arguing this This is your first response to me, you were arguing with someone else I just followed it. Anything well known is popular by nature. What dictionary is that? |

Iamgrey5: Read my comment again but slowly this time.
I wrote "even though he was known to everyone he wasn't popular"
Definition of popular
regarded with favor, approval, or affection by an acquaintance or acquaintances You've perverted the meaning of popular The same dictionary you got that meaning from said from said "regarded with great favor, approval or affection especially by the general public" You added the latter to support your argument |

You now release him after much pressure it's definitely evident that we can only achieve this much and more through continuous struggle. Why do you want the federal government to lose? Why is it important for there to be a winner in this struggle? Let good ideas reign not humans winning? That's how bad ideas propagate, when we support people not ideas |

midnighter: So why are they still sacred? The humans playing the idea aren't sacred but the idea itself The king seizes being human once he ascends the throne. That regard is where the privileges stem from, the same exact reason you sit there and listen to a man of God preach or teacher teach. Or a parent parent you regardless of their flaws, because they are a persona for the authority they wield over you. They embody ideas we have high regards for, probably because these ideas are regulatory by nature. They are primitive ideas, scientific reasoning is just a very recent development.. How do you think the primitive man was able to conduct himself without science? Culture wasn't a scientific discovery Men never thought that way since time, we accorded personalities to ideas that regulated human behaviour. I can get into this deeply if you're interested. |

Cousin9999: I think young women should be taught how to do makeup, but they shouldn't be allowed to wear it until they're a legal adult or unless it's stage makeup or just playing dress-up.
It's just bad parenting to allow anything else. I like this idea better than everything I've read so far. I agree with the idea of teaching them how to use it properly But... Wouldn't it be tempting for the child to try when you aren't there? What would you do to reduce the chances of it occurring in your absence? That's where I for see danger in the idea |

nextstep: Leaders who don't provide good schools, good hospitals, good roads, and instead steal all the money... are they the ones who should be complaining about the youths that they raised?
But seriously, every generation since Plato has complained about the deterioration of morals in the youths. Imagine what Nigerian parents were saying about those 1960's highlife kids who just want to dance and drink and hang out in music joints. Then another generation complained about the kids of the disco 70's who just wanted to dance and smoke. Then they complained about those kids in 80's who just want to breakdance and wear jerry curls. Now those parents who danced and smoked in 60's 70's 80's are complaining about kids doing the very same thing in 2010's.
And I won't be surprised to read that Naira Marley himself complains about "kids these days" in 2040's. Thank You! The redundant nature of our current music is a direct reflection of our nation's booming redundancy. That's the role of the artist in the society |

okenwaa: Stupid write up.
The government should be your major concern and not an individual.
Before NM broke into limelight, the youths have started doing drugs, fraud, prostitution etc. The system made them this way.
Do a write up on bad leadership and poor parenting and act like you have SENSE for once.
Naira is least of your problems!!! People are more concerned with feeling morally superior than understanding a problem. Its about feeling good about yourself than understanding why he has so much supporters. They probably think his supporters are stupid and their support is one proof of their stupidity. You will make zero progress solving the conundrum whilst viewing people through that lens. |

At some point people start consuming the artist in a way that distorts their perception of the art made by the artist. |

OP your post ended up being you throwing blame here and there and factoring naira maley into it. Bad leadership=rotten youths. Rotten youths= bad leadership. No solutions provided just write and go. There's nothing wrong with stating a problem clearly, even if you don't have a solution. The least a writer can do is state a problem at its highest resolution. |

Zerlo: Alright, what ever the story might be I believe your best bet is abstinence. This is a clear case of addiction and it might feel impossible or very difficult to stop but with a strong-willed mind, u can pull it off. Ask your self, what exactly do I gain from sex and what exactly am I losing. Your answer will be an extra motivation to stop, reduce or stop completely. Personally, I feel sex is highly overrated. Seeing people bragging on their body counts or sexcapades is nauseating. If u like have sex with Miss world, it doesn't add a value to u. So bro, make a choice today to break away from the shackles of sex enslavement and liberate your soul. Cheers. Sex has a gain. It can lead to reproduction. The problem isn't sex but the abuse of it. |

Naira Marley is just a silly idiot - His fans included.
That would be a shallow way to categorise people. There's a reason behind the attraction people have for him and his work. He's chosen as their avatar for a reason, seek that reason and you'll find a richer understanding. You don't get to call people fools without knowing what's driving the folly. That's what constitutes folly really; unguarded statements |
