omo_to_dun:

The programmers on NL do not have the expertise to create a Nairaland-like forum from scratch, without resorting to CMS. However, if it is to brag, they can do that day and night.
CMS may look very big like a solution to rely on but it's really NOT. i have meet clients using CMS n by God grace i made them used my custom application to suit all their basic need in a much more effective way.

by the way on one need to tell you that CMS are like fat old camel that can travel far but on efficiency and effectiveness.
they have a lot of code that are most likely not important to ur apps. and bring out very funny error when u try to change the condition on flow.

ermm,
this is a bit unfortunate for we programmers in nigeria. i have done some forum application on intranet for some organisation which is at least very ok even in the international community. i seriously believe i can do it, i only need some very good guys in support in some areas.
if i can find 2 or 3 persons and the owner of NL is interested i am 100% i will deliver in 4 - 6 months.

that is another idea to seller to a world class software vendor. (but enter a maintenance agreement with them)
its cool, and will expose you a lot of other concepts and ideas and in terms of money you ar 100% sure that at the end of the day u will rip something substantial.
cos when you stand alone you have a chance to lose all or gain all.
Programming / Creating A New Face For Nl by binkabir(m): 11:21am On Jul 07, 2011
with this high level of programmers in NariaLand, i was thinking if we could form a tem and  re-create NL (voluntarily) COMPLETELY, make it suit our ways 100% first - this will make  alot of sense and company and organisation will in some way begin to believe that in Nigeria there are programmers that can do the JOB. kiss kiss
second - We would stop using cms forum which are vulnerable  to  hacking from any part of the world,  undecided undecided

please comment,

Hello, first Congrats for this milestone.
i think creating a VPN or a forum with authenication using (https) for will be better idea. because when programmer layer their hands on the software i assure you it can be easily decomposed and sold @ N200 kiss kiss in CD's in alaba market square grin grin.
but with this VPN stuff all your code ar behind the screen.
one challenge is which language can do the job perfectly cos you know web scripting languages cant access usb or ports on a system.
Religion / Re: Nigerian Christians Open Hostility Against Islam by binkabir(m): 8:31am On Jul 07, 2011
One obvious true is that majority of today christians n muslims have left their fundamental practices and civilizied it with crock ways of acheiving their inner most selffish desire.

imagine Boko Haram (muslims) killing innocent bombing and  people calling it islam?
imagine politicans (muslims) in the north killing innocent corpers under the banner of islam?
imagine Pastor (Christians) emassing wealth from church goers, buying private jets, buying assets in other countries dubai etc, calling it salvation, removing demonic spirit and jesus prophets and prohetres (female prophet  cheesy cheesy cheesy)! ho!!! holy Father never sent female messangers/prophet untill in this today world?? (cant imagine)
imagine Catholic (christians) dont want to marry wet sleeping with ultar boys in the church (making God feel he made a mistake creating the woman)!!!

if and only if the muslim go back to Quran and practice it while the Christian do the same with the bible (which is almost impossible because the practice do not suit today's world of self desire and materialisim ) peace will never reign.
i rest my chase.
Religion / Re: Nigerian Christians Open Hostility Against Islam by binkabir(m): 12:02pm On Jul 06, 2011
its a simply fact that Most Christians especially in Nigeria always feel they are only being that can make things happen, this is very very very unfortunate for them, because in recent time organisation like CAN and the rest a very busy sniffing and pork-nosing in all issues of the FGN, trying to always have a say. i recent heard a Christian guy saying "in all political issues i have to hear what my pastor is  saying b4 i comment" this is absolute rubbish.  angry angry angry when have the pastors or cardinal  became political analysis?? or financial strategist ? if anyone in the north those something wrong it is islam that though him but if its another person (christian) no issue is raised. this is absolute ignorance.

Programming / Re: Asp.net/mssql Versus Php/mysql by binkabir(m): 8:31am On Jul 05, 2011
Hello interesting topic
well,
ASP.net is not free (its a microsoft project, you have to buy it  cool cool cool) while PHP Is free(awhuf) shocked shocked.
ASP.net is much more easy to develop a site than PHP.
PHP is very big and fat(alot of classes, functions and methods ) that make i easy to program too.
ASP.net do not expose one to core programming skills while PHP those.

if u want to be a very excellent programmer go for PHP, if u want to develop web application and get quick money then ASP.net is a good option.
in terms for popularity in the internet and available books PHP have more.

PHP have a lot of frameworks that can make you even develop in quicker time than ASP.
i dont no if ASP have frameworks.

both glo and mtn websites are ASP.net
facebook,stay.com,lyrics.com and alot of top 10 world sites are designed in PHP .

the learning curve of ASP.net is a very straight line graph while that of PHP is like a elasticity graph.

i personally like php, python and andriod programming

most of the conditional algorithm are the same in both PHP and ASP.net

i hope this helped  wink wink wink

most of the military guys these days are from the north, wonder if justice will be carried out
^^^^ this cannot be true cos if u move around the country u will notice that in north majority of military men are from the south east and south west
while if u go to south west states like lagos u will see majority military are from the north east and west . is a shuffling thing.

i have always and always loved Buhari because he is the only president the neither the EFCC nor the criminal investigation agency have found him wanting. And that is the main reason why most of these leader will not want him back to Aso rock cos money looting will be a thing of the past in Nigeria
Politics / Testimony By A Nigerian On Why They Didn't Vote Buhari Before . by binkabir(m): 8:00am On Mar 18, 2011
In 2011, General M. Buhari is not alone. He's supported by a team of volunteers online and offline who never voted for him before. We didn't vote for him, because we didn't know. We didn't know that he supervised and birthed our only existing refineries. We didn't know that what he did in road construction while in the PTF hasn't been matched by 12yrs of the PDP, even though some claimed they were lopsided. We didn't know that in his time as head of state he reduced inflation from 23% to 4%, by fiscal discipline and a homegrown economic team (not achieved under any other era, even military). We didn't know that there was no religious crisis while he led.

We didn't know that JJ Rawlings of Ghana took over 2yrs before him, and killed all the corrupt leaders, while GMB merely gave his own, long-term jail sentences. We didn't know that the hospitals and universities around the country never witnessed as much benefits they got from the PTF from any government after or before his time. We did not know, that this man despite serving in senior capacity in the oil sector, has no petrol station, much less a rig, refinery or an oil block like so many of our leaders. We never voted him, because we did not know.

But now we know, We know that he has followership in the north that money can't buy. We know that those who follow him are poor, and follow him out of hope and belief in his values. I have met old men who know him, who have said, "All I need from Buhari is his word, I can take it to the bank". Now we know that here is someone that has been in everything to make him an IBB or Danjuma, but didn't take that road.

We feared he was an Islamic fundamentalist, but he challenged us to provide any human being who can point at anything he did to show that. Now we know, that it's about the values, The only former head of state that does not own a house in Abuja . Educate someone today!

I just did!!!
