what do u really want to do?

redirecting an authenticated user to another site that need assess control or just redirect to a different url?

if the latter is the question u can simple use the php built in function "header" to redirect

eg
<?PHP

  header('location:user.php');


?>

u can also put it in conditional statment so that u can redirect to different pages
based on the conditions

answer 1: that portal was a demo portal which i designed  in 2007, from that version i have 3 other versions that on production. which most of this issue like yours was addressed.

                the cassandra issue should not be included cos that is a Database and not PHP issue

going to NIIT is not enough to be a programmer ? most people i know became programmers because of the love for coding, if u wish to be one i will prefer u to start out by finding the best programming language what suit ur mind,
but in an average go to NIIT can help buid ur career and not the foundation of ur career.

writing different code will not help those who are learning

i will prefer that the moderator to select some very important real life application components (eg, authenication, SEO, OOP, security etc, ) then every programmer will submit he/her code that can implement that concept.

have anyone try ZEND framework? if yes then you are truly a web application programmer
at first the instantiation of the a project in Zend Fw can be difficult and frustrating but the over head cost of production, maintainability and code reuse will really worth something one should use in building quick content managment systems (CMS).

i was once a python programmer using Django FW suddenly i had to change to PHP and finally to ZEND FW www.zend.com .
for any web application developer this should be ur next thread.

i think the best software army are those who try to enhance open source softwares, subsequently in the support and development of open source.
i started that first by migrating to linux (ubuntu) www.ubuntu.com then im in the course of producing softwares using python programming language and wxglade for GUI design.
all are free to download and distribute. this has help in deploying customized softwares for some companies in abuja.

just get a personal computer and install a software like visual basic 6.0 or visual c and c++, go to the internet and try

if i will advice you, you can try python programming. it's well to do but you have to be patient.
