this was a relatively clean contest with less bitterness than in the post Welll done s.exgua for cleaning threads pronto This should encourage more contestants next year
I feel to counter the clique factor and/or herd mentality. we can look at some suggestions
- Campaigning should be stopped in the voting thread
- Also votes should not be displayed until the end of the competition - FiNALE (just positions) this further reinforces people's voting patterns
- In the final Also we can have a number of weighted votes, say vote A , vote B and vote C where you instead of voting for one person only vote A carrries 5 votes B 4 and C so on and so forth
This will allow voters to distribute points not votes
- Also can we look at using PMs to vote (a sort of secret ballot) |

gabbytabby: While I agree that both are to blame. In my oppinion, the damage is not as a result of the absentee father as he was hardly ever there but in the things that the mother did to not curb his excesses when he started but instead to say I understand why when it should never be okay for a primary school child to insult his father because who else cant he insult including you the mother and that is what finally happened.
Also during the divorce initiated by the dad to get his share of the house proceeds. He did say he wanted custody of all the children so that he can get a larger share of the proceeds obviously but, the mother should have let him have the boy cos she was not able to look after him and he was already taking a turn for the worse but because it was all about money to both of them and since the father was not granted custody and no money was given to him, he was not interested afterwards.
Sending children to Nigeria does not cure all issues but if you are already having problems with them by sending them at start of secondary and straight to boarding house and they come back home during all holidays, the experience is that they tend to be less unmanageable. Most end up preferring to stay in Nigeria and want to do uni there.
While its an unfair situation, a woman must never loose sight of the fact that the children she gave birth to her her legacy as, often times, the man would move on and make another family with someone else. then it really is tragic in this particular situation |
Family › Re: Nigerian Parents in the Diaspora you need to do more by biolabee(m): 9:18pm On Jun 07, 2013 |
coogar: ask yourself if this demonic women even want the fathers to see the children. keeping the kids away from their fathers is their way of screwing the man up completely. which father do you know that would deliberately run away from his responsibility? you guys don't have a prayer at all............. Really tragic We all suffer |
Family › Re: Nigerian Parents in the Diaspora you need to do more by biolabee(m): 5:55pm On Jun 07, 2013 |
coogar: then blame the law... the law has reduced fathers to cash cows to be milked dry. the law feels once child support is provided then the kid should be fine. the father's presence at home with a kid cannot be overemphasised....
if women are responsible for 70% of the divorces/separation then the blame should go to them. michael adebowale's mum left his father.....went on to marry twice again and she's now single. should we just assume she kept marrying irresponsible men or she's the one with the rotten attitude? yes the law may have been abused by some women... over time but a fathers ultimate legacy is his children he may have failed in marriage but he shold not fail in fatherhood |
