That okene for kogi. Damn. Na criminals full that stretch
that spot don tey nau. My friend and I were travelling on that route when we were students in UNN . It was at about past 11pm . The robbers parked their car by the road side, ready for a road rage chase. We turned off all the lights and went for a suicide cruise, zoomed past Dem like a ghost Lamborghini . By the time we got to Lokoja , all check points were stopping and asking us where exactly were we coming from . They were like , " these two small boys, una no dey fear ? Abi them no tell una say na hell una wan go pass like this. We didn't meet a single car while the race lasted . We had no other choice. We had to take the risk because going back wasn't easy. Check points before there warned us , but we both swore to hit the gas forward. We past the night at Lokoja. My parents almost skinned me alive when we got home in the morning. Just helping a lecturer who relocated

FCT is burning with crime and the job is now fit for son of a man they wouldn't consider on a very good day.

Whenever things get out of hand ,
Just look for an IGBOman and hand it to him.

When Boko Haram was running amok in the North, Ihejirika was the man for the job. Thank God that he so finished the job that the Northern elders were siding BH . Their cry was that he wanted to wipe out their sons. He was removed and now , they are enjoying their BH and bandits.

Nigeria, when you are ready to develop and progress like other God- blessed countries like you ,you know the people to move you to the paradise. For now , keep playing.

You think so, but that's not the reality.

There is a pain point at which demand for many imported goods will fall fast. People will simply start buying less and less of them. Whether that pain point is at N1500, N1800, or N2000 to a dollar, I don't know.

But the CBN will have the data. They know. If N1500 doesn't stiffle imports to the level they want, I suspect the CBN will not mind seeing naira close to N2,000 to a dollar.

In some ways, it is to the credit of Mr Tinubu's administration that it is willing to follow this extremely tough path to redirect the economy from import-dependence to greater local production. For a politician facing election in just over 3 years to follow a path that may not show positive results for a few years, is truly brave.

The Nigerian economy was heading for the rocks after over 40 years of mismanagement. Tough decisions are needed to correct long term over dependence on imports.

That naira/dollar pain point is the point at which local production of certain goods starts becoming more viable than importing the same goods. This should translate to us producing more of what we need locally. This will lead to more job creation, less pressure on the naira, and a stronger, more balanced economy in the long term.

But this approach comes with a lot of economic pain initially, as the country is witnessing now.

That's the theory o.

Whether things happen in practice like I stated above is a different matter, because Nigeria's situation often defy economic theory.

huge and massive rubbish.

Oga , stop wasting your life here defending the impossible.

Go out there , Hussle and leave this country o. You are not making sense. You go wait tire o .
I have an uncle who had worked very close with this your man o. He settles those in his circle and level but has nothing to do with poor o. You go waste in this country, believing and defending nonsense o

immortalcrown:
Raising import duty now means increasing the cost of living.

When I did Economics as a subject in secondary school, I was taught import duty is used to control inflow of foreign goods. That is, low import duty attracts more foreign goods while high import duty discourages patronage of foreign goods.

But today in Nigeria, high import duty does not decrease the demand for foreign goods because consumers in Nigeria refuse to give up on foreign goods. But I don't blame the consumers. The government does not control the standard of local goods. Using local goods is suicidal in Nigeria. Almost everything is faked at traders' backyards.

Some people may praise BAT for this new import duty. The praisers will claim the new import duty will boost Nigerian economy by promoting local goods. But it is not true. Buhari closed borders with the same logic but life has been getting worse after the border closure.
HOW MUCH IS A BAG OF LOCAL RICE that people will be encouraged to patronize local commodities ??

The wailing losers have forgotten this. They assume any negative trend can always be used to promote their candidate at the expense of whoever is there now.
yes, Peter would have used billions to renovate his VP's office when Nigerians are very hungry , his entourage would have been endless, like 100 cars , he would have first recovered billions he spent bribing INEC and buying 5 cups of rice to buy your vote, his son would have been using the presidential jet to go watching football matches.

Oga , you no get sense. If frustration and hunger no kee you in this administration, na him be say something divine cause am.

Meanwhile, before you start commenting about PO from your village and Lagos being the only places you have been in your life, ask people about how he governed Anambra. How judicious, accountable and reasonable he was with state fund and how much he left in their Treasury. All political heavyweights in Anambra could not make him do their biddings against the state and the masses in the street. His tenure was very successful. Whoever deserves what , got it in his time . Till today , he was nobody's POLITICAL GOD FATHER. His successor was left alone to lead , after he left.
