I am aware of this... Not just this though, our law has so many vices against the Judiciary... We are far from being independent... We need constitutional amendment to fix the judiciary...

I am a proponent of "just cause you can do something, doesn't mean you should" for them to stoop this low, they really wanted this man out
Now we are on the same page Bro! It's unfortunate but this is a bad precedence everyone should rise up against but we have attack dogs all over supporting the man who's threatening to enmesh the constitution into disrepute forgetting it's this constitution that holds the entity known as Nigeria

if pdp had fixed our constitution right, this would not have happened.

they had plans of useing 60 years but God gave them an opportunity of sixteen years .

now they are having their own torn of flesh, what goes around comes around

karma is here , Obasanjo is now crying he had the best opportunity, from prison to presidency.

our people u to say , any one that always behead people will never want to see someone holding a cutlass .

wish the likes of tinubu,Amechi, apabio, oshiomole, and others can learn from this to fix things right .

nothing last forever
Oga this is not a PDP or APC thing this is our democracy been snatched from us in the form or exparte orders.

BTW it was PDP who wrote amended the constitution as it is now in 1999 so just imagine how skewered it was before
Politics › Re: The Illegality Of The Suspension Of The CJN:20 Points To Note By Inibehe Effiong by bishopkay: 8:37am On Jan 26, 2019
Buhari has no right to interfere in the judiciary. Some smart by half zombies here are saying suspended not removed where as the constitution laid it very clear on how a CJN can be removed from office. You can't have a suspended CJN and an acting one. It's like having a suspended president and an acting one it's laughable!

I am even more shocked on how Tanko can allow himself be thus used if he really is Learned but what do you expect from some quota system justice who rose through the sharia ranks to the Supreme Court. Tanko is CJB ( chief justice of Buhari) not CJN. Walter remains the CJN and buhari just set a very bad precedence for our democracy.

If you say thean is corrupt and want him out, lobby the NJC to take him out. Laws are what make us less than savages and when we accepted to practice democracy, we choose to stand by those laws

You don't know the law... Only lawyers understand how deep this thing cuts... It's too complex for your head...

Tanko is the the most senior justice in the supreme Court, in the absence of the CJN he automatically assumes office as acting without the the NJC recommendation... He is only recommended when they want him to drop the acting title... This is our law, go and check...

Say what you want against buhari, the man is smart to pull this off
He may think he's smart but nope it's foolishness and he and Tanko just set a very bad precedence for our democracy. I am even shocked someone as "Learned" as Tanko would choose to be part of such charade. Anyways I insist he's CJB chief justice of Buhari not Nigeria

It seems some people on nairaland don't read... This has nothing to do with removal... It's a suspension
Bro be it suspension or removal what ever makes you sleep at night I don't care. Buhari has no constitutional backing whatever to SUSPEND or REMOVE a CJN. It is a separate arm of government and the executive has absolutely no say in its runnings. You want to remove the man, lobby the NJC to take him out That's our position!

BTW does buhari have the backing of the constitution to nominate, appoint and swear in a CJN because I didn't see any recommendations from the NJC for Tanko, neither an approval from the senate.

Please i await your response to this my learned Bro I wish to learn everyday

Section 231. (1) The appointment of a person to the office of Chief Justice of Nigeria shall be made by the President on the recommendation of the National Judicial Council subject to confirmation of such appointment by the Senate.

So u c... It is an appointment by Buhari...

This is not removal of the cjn, but suspension as captured in the IA
Bro don't interpret our laws upside down to serve your purpose.

At least by what you quoted, buhari had no sole right to appoint or fire a CJN. He acts on the RECOMMENDATION of the NJC first then the confirmation by the senate.

BTW if I may ask, did the NJC recommend this Tanko man? Or did buhari in a brazen act of defiance to our constitution anoint, appoint, confirm and swear in his own CJN?

Well Tanko is the chief justice of Buhari while Omoghen is the Chief justice of Nigeria.

Useless country jeez!

Please why was Salami removed? He was standing tall for the Judiciary, why would the NJC give recommendation...

Do you also know they gave GEJ a recommendation to reinstate him... Read on it
Oga we don't argue with emotions or sentiments here! Did the NJC recommend his removal or not?

Did the NJC recommend this removal? This is a sham and a rape on our democracy hence it can't hold

Cheap popularity is all this guy wants, it's unfortunate he can't get enough to get votes

First of all, the word removal is not synonymous to suspension, unless there is precedent for this, buhari has not gone contrary to law, it is left for the court to use the mischief rule to adjudicate this matter... The word removal is not defined
.

Secondly, Walter for fear that the NJC would suspend him, adjourned the NJC seating indefinitely... That just reaffirms his guilt.

Thirdly, why are you putting out your neck for someone you are sure is guilty, do you know how many supreme Court cases has suffered due to this struggle, today was suppose to be the hearing of the APC portharcourt case, but nothing... Cause of one man

The fight against corruption in Nigeria is a hard one, I commend Buhari for this, I am a lawyer, part of the judiciary, I do not see this as an attack on the judiciary, but a cleansing, after all, he who comes to equity must come with clean hands...

I won't use Sanusi as a precedent, try to reconcile this with GEJ and Ayo salami
If you had any brains and not a foolish demented mischievous bigot, you'd know that Jonathan acted on the recommendation of the NJC with the case of salami. But you fools would always look for where to wriggle into.

I repeat buhari has no right both constitutionally or otherwise to suspend or even interfere in workings of the judiciary because it's a different teir of government and independent of the executive arm of government

If I were the CJN, I'd go to work tomorrow and every other day let's see how he'd deal with it. It's so unfortunate I share same country with you demented lots. Lawyer ni magistrate ko!

By the way, buhari will win or get 40% of tai, eleme, khana, gokana, asalga, ikwerre, emohua, opobo, ahoada east, ahoada west, omuma, oyigbo etc.the exclusion of apc from all polls is even a plus for buhari.apc will focus totally on presidential while pdp will be divided in focus.

You lie
IMO state total valid votes was 702,924
Apc got around 133,253 against PDP that got over 559,185 votes so do the mathematics

Also bare in mind that IMO state had a sitting governor then who was fully supporting apc as against 2019 when he is campaigning against the apc. Buhari and his apc will be roasted in the east no doubt.
Bro please don't spend time and energy educating those unrepentant zombies... Nothing you say would change their hearts. Even if buhari calls tinubu a foolish thief, they have their eyes for 2023 which God willing they'd never get.

Going by the reactions of all the comments I've read here ( of which most are clearly from PDP supporters ) I think prof Sagay's claim Atiku and the rest are political dwarfs has been justified.

Mind you, he didn't say educational or intellectual dwarfs oh, Before you come for me grin. Just political dwarfs.

Ironically, Atiku feels insulted by Buhari Staying away but sees nothing wrong in himself doing exactly the same thing: calling Ezekwesili, Fela Durotoye, and Moghalu his POLITICAL DWARFS.

90% percent of the comments here are commending Atiku for his insensitive position on the debate and not worrying about the other candidates.

Truth is, most Nigerians, whether educated or not are generally selfish, uncultured, insensitive, narrow-minded and above all, an unnecessary proud human being who thinks he/she is the best thing since sliced bread.
The major political dwarf here is an incumbent who is so afraid of debating the other "dwafts" whom he could easily "squash" by reeling out "achievements" of his government for the past few years.

Then at the bolded, my Atiku isn't a dwarft. If the other candidates think they are dwarfts then good for them they should go debate themselves is that too much to ask for?

BTW why are you people focused on Atiku not showing up after stating his reason which sounds very rational rather than an incumbent who rather than debate is doing all in his power to boycott the event and even insulting the others who want to?

I believe I in my personal capacity can even debate challenge and defeat Buhari in a debate so y'all should focus on the lifeless one not Atiku

buhari is not the reason you need a debate , Nigerians need a debate so all candidates can actually share what they can offer to nigerians . Both atiku and buhari cannot stand any of the other contestants in a debate.
What ever makes you sleep at night Bro I don't care but My own personal reason for wanting to buy fuel in my generator and sub my dstv to watch this debate isn't because of some light weight contracted noise makers some of whom are mostly working for Buhari and APC to split votes and cause voter apathy, but it was to watch Atiku and Buhari then the others slug it out on a battle of wits, achievements and plans.

I am sorry you feel differently Bro but truth be told this election is between buhari and Atiku. Others are just after once presidential candidate title.

You and your candidate should be ashamed of yourselves for coming up with this silly excuse. Ivy Ezekwesili, Fela Durotoye, and Moghalu will be at debate. Atiku should go ahead and debate them. Tell him to stop hiding behind Buhari’s finger. He must attend the debate as promised.
Then you and your demented party and candidate should be much more ashamed of yourselves and hide your faces.

A "sitting President" who's afraid of going on a neutral ground debate to enlighten the electorates on why he should be returned to power. Hiding behind his handlers and hailed on by his zombies. If buhari would debate then Atiku would...cry me a river I don't care...I stand by what my Atiku says on this matter.

If the other candidates like they should go on the debate after all sagay just called them dwafts to all y'all zombie glee

Even Atiku wants to dodge the debate. The excuse Afegbua gave is very silly. If Buhari fails to show up for the debate, it should be a plus for Atiku and not an opportunity for him to skip the event.
The purpose of the debate was for Atiku and others to thoroughly rattle and disgrace the lifeless one.

Then sagay came out to insult all of them. Well I think the other candidates too should simply boycott it. Buhari is the reason we want a debate. Since the coward ran away, we should simply hold our fire and wait for the polls
