Compacting of the backfilling ongoing. We initially planned to cast the german floor Thursday/Friday but I was not too pleased with the compacting done and told them to leave it for a day or two to get the rain to fall on it. That way, the backfilling compacts better and we top it off.

Casting of the german floor is shifted to next week, we should be able to lay the DPM and reinforcements mat tomorrow, Saturday.

Backfilling task accomplished at last. We used a total of 230 tons laterite sand to backfill.

It was a slow process due to the incessant rain that affected the dump trucks loading and also the backfilling work.

Backfilling almost complete, just a tiny bit more. After 220 tons, it looks like the trenches is swallowing the backfill. We will require just another 10 tons which we won't use up.

200 tons of backfilling dumped and filled and just a little more to go. We definitely need another 20 tons and we should be able to call it a wrap.

Rain has actually delayed this phase of the project but it also helped in solidifying the backfilling.

Backfilling still ongoing, 180 tons dumped so far. Half of the span of the building almost done, at the stair section where we have a drop down level.

We received a dump of 20 tons backfilling yesterday and another 20 tons this morning making a total of 160 tons dumped so far. Let's see how far we can go with this and how much backfilling will be needed to complete the task.

The next stage is the flooring work which involves laying of rugs and wood vinyl floor.

sorry for the delay bro. How much are you paying for labour for each trip to do the backfilling.

For each 20 tons trip its N6,000 but I was able to negotiate to N5,000. For 10 tons its N3,000. They will rent wheel barrows and shovels themselves.

After 120 tons of backfilling, we still have this much to do. By my rough calculation, we are looking at another 80 tons, hopefully no more than that.

The size of the building is L-23.759m, B-9.576m. As of today 100 tons (5 trips of 20tons truck) of filling has been dumped. Its looking like we will still do between another 40-80 tons but not more than that. Please take into cognizance the number of coaches laid. We have 4 coaches in the front unit and 5 coaches at the rear unit.

You can also calculate the volume (cu3) of the trenches and convert to tonnages. Depending on the type of soil, the multiplying factor is different if its dry sand or moist sand.

Also known as safety glass, tempered glass breaks down into smaller pieces that have less sharp edges. This is possible because during the annealing process the glass is cooled down slowly, which makes the glass much stronger, & impact / scratch resistant compared to non-treated glass.
