Business / Re: Lagos Fishermen Lament Over Dangote Refinery: "What Will Be Left For Us?" by BJO: 1:39pm On Dec 28, 2019
The refinery is at an advanced stage thus no amount of cry out can stop it now giving all factors for.

However, the people should engage key stakeholders in their community to start preparing for how to hold Dangote to account for environmental protection and payment of fair Taxes that they can leverage for alternative livelihood

Politics / Re: NNPC To Sell Fuel Below N145, PPPRA Releases Official statement by BJO: 8:44pm On May 11, 2016
Referencing 2012 slogan, I want the same set of people to come out en masse again to demand for "palliative measures" put in place before this increase. Nigerians are Nigeria's problem and until we stop deceiving ourselves, development will just be a dream.

@ Jarus

Nice one.

But a question for you, I learnt it is a norm in Kwara; to marry at least one wife (iyawo saara) for their male child without his consent. Is that true?

Thank you, this is an awakening thread for me. Also, thanks to the MOD for moving it to FP.

I have someone around me going through a similar situation but I have been nonchalant about it. So happy it is not too late, I have to help in whatever way I can.

This is rather unfortunate. You have to be very careful with suggestions from NL and other social media, the fraudster will definitely keep tabs.

However, the PIN is a good means to track her down...

jamoyakz: Akintola was an ingrate and betrayed his boss and Yorubas at large. guess you are from ogbomosho stock Its part of them to betray I.e Akala did the same... Mind you Awolowo wanted to work with the NCNC cause he saw we had more to gain by working with NCNC but Akintola wanted to work with the government at d centre ... This is what still played out with d merger of ACN, CPC an co!!! History is indeed the best teacher

Awolowo kind of politics can be tagged "Propaganda Politics" he uses the media to his advantage by spreading his own version of the 'real story'..yes! Whatever works for individual Political leader.

However, A Tinubu is more intelligent, smart and a good student of history..I'll respect him for that forever..praying that he won't be too greedy..so that he can enjoy what an Awolowo will pray for a second chance from God to come and correct. :-)

@mamarika

Thanks for the info.

I will even advice them to stay out of government quarantine area because it is very possible none of them is infected by the virus at the moment. Let them stay quarantine wherever they are for the 21days incubation period or more...

jamoyakz: mr man seems you have lost touch of history of politics in yoruba land!!! We the yorubas are always proud to be in a different party from that of the centre!! From the time of awolowo but some ingrate like s.l Akintola, Olusegun Obasanjo, fayose an co have betrayed the course of yorubaland and we pay just as how Akintola paid... We are too educated and enlightened to tie our destiny down #note ekiti will regret in no distant time

Politics is dynamic and that is why we are playing it differently from the way it was played in the Awolow's time...

A Awolowo will not merge the way Tinubu did..if Tinubu and Bhuari are not too selfish..APC will grow to be the 2nd national party in no time..and that is democracy of our time.

And lastly..don't be delusioned into believing that all Yorubas tagged Akintola as an ingrate or a betrayal...

nora544:

I know where you can read it and it is from the germans institute in Hamburg, my problem is that they have their informations only in german.

I will explane you with some words why it is now different

look where it was before did you see big cities in this parts of africa.

now it is in big cities that is the problem

that is an information from a medicine newspaper in UK about the new outbreak.

http://www.nejm.org/doi/pdf/10.1056/NEJMoa1404505

I don't think it has to do with big or small cities..why have we not heard that it wiped a whole community..if it has been around for about 40yrs and it is this deadly.

Then, how was it curtailed when it first broke out?

Anyway, one need to be more vigilant and take necessary precautions.

SirShymex: Darn!! Mr. Ebola the e-baller is getting scary!!

Anyway, can the medical students, or courses related to medical sciences on nairaland help us out here. If Ebola started in 1976, and since then it has only killed 1,500 folks. However, with the recent outbreak in West Africa, the same virus has killed about 1,000 people within 5-6 months - why's the West African ebola virus more vicious than the East African variant? Or has the ebola virus mutated since the first outbreak, and it's now deadlier and contagious?

Please, I need research papers...because there's nothing in the media explaining why this new variant is so different. This whole thing is getting scarier by day and we need to understand what we're dealing with before it spreads to other parts of planet.

Exactly my thought..why the sudden deadly spread if it has been around for that long...
