However, this scenario perfectly depicts the plot in the best-selling novel titled Executive Order written by Tom Clancy.

The question in all of this as was depicted in the novel is that would all allies coordinate their activities in synchronism which would divide the US attention on the major threat?

In the novel, the major threat was a Biological Warfare and here in this scenario the threat is a Nuclear head Warfare.
