Good work, I might as well give you a honourary Nigeria citizenship with a chieftaincy title.

1st, a Nigerian name - I give you Ibukun ( closer to your moniker, means blessings )

Chieftaincy title - The Akogun of Nairaland I

grin grin grin
Hhehehehehe. I accept! As from this day forth, anyone calls me anything other than "Ibukun" or "The Akogun of NL" is getting drop-kicked!
Bk, I noticed you have a question mark for minimus. I think I know who that pig is ;

Minimus = Nigerian intellectuals, technocrats(public/private) artists and other professionals.

They supposedly have the education, the brains and the expertise but are always ready to serve the needs of the oppressors, they write the laws, offer their expertise, training and knowledge to any government in power as long as they get the recognition and pay.

They value their professional pursuit more than the progress and well being of their people.
Lol. Yes could be.
Look at this dummy, lol. Who was the first to rebel against the "Nigeria state with one of the main reason for agitation being that its resources were being used to feed the rest while they wallowed in penury"? Is that a real question. Have you not heard of Isaac Adaka Boro and the 12 day Niger Delta Rebellion? This was way before the Biafrans went for secession. Dummy. cheesy
Right! And when Historians all over the world are asked: Who led the rebel side in a war against the State of Nigeria, their answer is gonna be Isaac Adaka Boro?

Ask urself, honestly, how many Nigerians have ever heard of Isaac Adaka Boro, cus the answer is pretty glaring from the answers that are usually put up when this man (Boro) is the topic!

Bkbabe,

Nice adaptation but I wouldn't agree with Awo being Old Major is GEJ is Napolean since they belong to different political ideologies; Awo was a democratic socialist and GEJ is an epileptic parapoist (to borrow the phrase from Obahiagbon). Old Major must be an old member of PDP who probably meant well but didnt stay around long enough to have any control on the current setup in PDP.

But if Awolowo must be Old major, then Tinubu must be Napoleon.

Perhaps I am reading too much into your excellent adaptation.
Hey Kats, how u been?

Well, I dont know much about Tinubu except that he's an accused drug dealer who became a political activist then Governor in Nigeria. I used Mr.Awolowo because I equated "Rebellion", in the Nigerian context, with Mr.Awo's economic, social, and educational vision for his people and (further down the road) the whole of Nigeria. He didnt get to see his vision come to light, he continually preached it, but when he (and his generation) passed on, the whole society when to the gutters; worse than they could ever imagine. Better to have an outsider ill-treat you than ur own brother. . . . . .

We can all choose and pick who we think fits any of the characters. My characterization is not set in stone. My point was, if I could find as close a similarity as possible (btwn the book and real life), the more people read it, the "easier" they "found" who they felt fits the characters in the book. At least some young minds out there must have read this and have, hopefully, become enlightened as a result. Thats my sole objective, nothing else!

The way some of these posters are going along this thread, they feel it is the best thing since oil was discovered in the Niger Delta.

How can the hens be Igbo when Napoleon is GEJ?

Either way, Animal Farm is a good book though. Along with 1984.
Dude, you dont have to read into the symbolisms "verbatim"! I picked out bits and pieces; of course you know the book wasnt written with Nigeria in mind.

As for the Hens being Ibos; 1. Who was the 1st to rebel against the Nigerian State with one of the main reason for agitation being that its resources were being used to feed the rest while they wallowed in penury?  2. Did/Does the rest of Nigeria (i.e the Northerners) put the Ibos in a "choke hold"  in other to take what belongs to it?

Answer those questions before you start criticizing just for the fuxck of it. . . . . .

Investment will dry up if oil pipelines are targeted. Sorry, but Nigeria needs the Niger Delta to have peace. Gone round all politics thread and noticed we have the Buhari / GEJ feud division which is quite interesting . But if you insist that GEJ is clueless then why should i vote for another loser who knows next to nothing than just giving us a hard man stance. if you want technocrats as you would be quick to point out the enviable Lagos State governor Babatunde Fashola as the idle candidate to keep the opposition at bay and sweating. Now, does the candidacy of Buhari/ Bakare portray such intelligence ? or you expect all of us to cut off our noise to spite our faces just because we feel GEJ is dumb and foolish.

You all Preach progress . .  Then devote all your energy to sell the candidacy of Prof. Pat Utomi and other technocrat who belong to our generation and no more of the old guard dictators i.e OBJ, Buhari, TY Danjuma and co.  enough of this Buhari is the messiah . . ruling and moving Nigeria is not just by acting and talking tough. . it is by knowing what you really want to do and how to go about it. Please do not throw that manifesto into my face. we have seen enough of that already and they were even more promising.
Dude, try to be consistent. . . and make sense!

Look at the bolded, who is "hanging out" with them? GEJ or Gen.Buhari?

The Nigerian economy heavily relies on the crude oil that is found in this region. And it would be nice to see a person from a minority besides the Fulani to become president of Nigeria.
Wow, such impressive reasoning!

I think MOSES THE RAVEN represent our countless General Overseers who had brainwashed the masses to be docile and not get involved in politics quoting the Bible that Christians should not be involved in d affairs of this world! submitting to authorities cos they are ordained by God etc
Making the people incapable of rebelling against the corrupt system.
Thanx man.

Your description actually is what the Original Author intended Moses the Raven to be----The Church!

In the Nigerian context though, I feel it better represents the "Diaspora". Theyve been away from all the "madness" in Nigeria, they know life can actually be better, they only "visit" their former homes and places of birth, and on their brief visits home they never hesitate to regale the others about how wonderful "Sugar Candy Mountain" is. The Politicians fear them because their tales of a "better" life could spur the other animals into seeking better welfare, but they (Politicians) smartly do not confront them but instead tolerate them, knowing that they'll be leaving soon to return to "Sugar Candy Mountain" (The Western World and its sometimes exaggerated high standards of living). Confronting them would lend credence to their story and have the animals wondering;ignoring them (and hoping they leave soon) would leave doubts in the air about the truths of Sugar Candy Mountain! The masses are gullible and thats how the Politicos love it!
