Dream Team VI Star Sadiq Umar Urges Nigeria To Make Move For Italian-Nigerian Cesena Forward Franklyn Akammadu

Bologna forward Sadiq Umar says Nigeria should establish contact with Cesena 18 year old forward Franklyn Akammadu, who is reportedly set to be called up to the Italian youth national team.

In the past Nigeria have lost the duo of Angelo Ogbonna and Chuka Okaka to Italy. 20 year old Umar is advocating that the football house in Nigeria establish contact with Akammadu to avoid losing him to Italy.

Umar who was one of the stars of Nigeria’s campaign at the Rio 2016 Olympics reckons, he has seen enough to convince him that Akammadu will come good in the nearest future.

” He is quick, skillful, strong and very good with both feet. He is highly rated here in Italy, presently he is the top scorer in the Primavera (Youth League)”. He told Owngoalnigeria.com.

”Too early to say he is ready for the main team but it will be good, if contact is made for future purposes. We can’t afford to lose him” He concluded.

EXCLUSIVE: Real Madrid Keeping Close Watch On Spezia Nigerian Goal Machine Suleiman Abdullahi

Reports exclusively gathered by Owngoalnigeria.com can confirm that Real Madrid are watching Spezia Nigerian forward Suleiman Abdullahi, who is presently scoring for fun in the Italian Primavera League.

Real Madrid got wind of his talents, when he scored twice against them in the final of a youth tournament in Croatia, where he finished as top scorer for Football Academy Abuja, who were Champions at the tournament.

The existing agreement between Serie B side Spezia and the Abuja Academy saw him move to them immediately after the tournament but Real Madrid have not stopped monitoring his progress.

Yesterday when Spezia captained by another Nigerian Tahir Maigini lost 4-1 to AC Milan in a Primavera game, scouts from the La-Liga giants were in attendance and the 17 year old scored the only goal for his team.

So far he has five goals in seven Primavera games, a tally that makes him the top scorer of his team, and also in the youth league in Italy which is closely followed by scouts of top European clubs.

Theophilus Solomon was tipped by Manu Garba to break into the Super Eagles before Kelechi Iheanacho.

Hope the guy fulfills his potentials.
I do not expect him to be in that league at this age 20.

I wish his agent throws a search light on a league like Belgium or Italy.

Exciting Winger Adekanye Turns Super Sub For Liverpool After Return From Injury

Netherlands youth international Bobby Adekanye has impressed for Liverpool U18s since his return from a two-month injury layoff .

The exciting winger scored in his first game against Derby County on October 22 after a spell on the sidelines and also notched an assist in the 5-1 win, having come off the bench before the start of the second half.

Adekanye started on the bench again in Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Sunderland at the Academy Ground on Saturday, and showed a glimpse of his potential when he came on in the 53rd minute.

Ibadan-born Adekanye underwent a hernia operation in September and this kept him out of the Liverpool squad that tackled Stoke City, Middlesbrough, Everton, Newcastle United and West Brom in the U18 Premier League.

A product of Barcelona, he joined Liverpool in the summer of 2015 from Dutch club PSV.

Amokachi Says Nigerians Pay NGN250,000 to Play for U-17
Written by Amos Joseph

Ex-international Daniel Amokachi has alleged that Nigerian youth are levied up to a tune of Two Hundred and Fifty Thousand Naira (N250,000) to be selected to represent their fatherland Nigeria at U-17 National team cadre.

Speaking at an event with the coalition of Civil Society Organisations, CSOs, operating under the aegis of National Support Groups for Good Governance, NASUGG, protesting in support of war against corruption in Abuja, as reported by Vanguard, the Bull as he is nicknamed pinpointed that corruption has eaten deep into sports in the country.

“My name is Daniel Amokachi. I have said I will support the movement, because in my field which is sports, corruption is endemic.

“Corruption has invaded sports so deeply that even in FIFA headquarters in Zurich, we saw how the world stood up and said.

“Enough is enough!” We saw how the president, Sepp Blatter was not spared. He was removed from office because integrity matters when it comes to the constitution.

“President Buhari is one who doesn’t take nonsense when it comes to fighting corruption. I concur with everything he says.

“For instance, in Nigerian football today, the youths, when invited to the national team, a coach will ask them to bring N250,000 each to get into the U-17 team when he already has the talent. If a person has talent, he should be allowed to showcase what he has in the interest of the nation.

It could be recalled that PageOne.ng recently wrote an article themed ‘Continued Biased Refereeing will kill Nigeria Football League’buttressing how the football federation in conjunction with the Referee body must take seriously the issue of referee to help the game.

Amokachi further noted “A small team cannot win the Nigerian league because all the people in Nigerian football are corrupt. If a referee is bribed and a match is won here, the match cannot be won there.

“The judiciary is not above the law. Mr. President is on a good path’’, he said.

Amokachi was former assistant manager of the Nigeria national football team and currently the manager of Finnish 2nd division side JS Hercules. It remains to be seen what this allegation will generate into both from the coaches who have at one point in time handled the National team and the Nigerian Football Federation itself.

Ifeanyi Matthew Player of the Week in Norway, Lillestrom Club of Week

Ifeanyi Matthew (left) has continued to shine for Norwegian club Lillestrom

Ex-Kano Pillars midfield star Ifeanyi Matthew is now the new shining star in Norway after he was named Player of the Week in the country’s top league and his club Lillestrom scooped the Team of the Week.

Matthew set the tone for an unlikely Lillestrom win at title chasers Brann with his opportunistic goal, but his overall performance earned him the man of the match award.

After his opener after half an hour, he was denied a second goal by the brilliant Brann goalkeeper, he also conjured a through ball for a dangerous attack in a five-star display for Lillestrom to win 2-1 away from home.

On the back of this unlikely win, Lillestrom are now in the relegation play-off bracket and they will steer clear of the dreaded drop with a home win over IK Start on Sunday.

Arsenal Loanee Nwakali Yet To Hit Full Stride At MVV Maastricht

Kelechi Nwakali is slowly being integrated into the set up at Dutch second division side MVV Maastricht, where he is on loan from English Premier League giant Arsenal.

Nwakali’s transfer to Arsenal was made official in the summer, with the Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the last Under-17 World Cup signing a five year contract.

However work permit restrictions means he was farmed out on loan to MVV Maastricht to enable him get games, which will aid his development before he is eventually ready for the first team at Arsenal.

The 18 year old has however struggled to adjust and adapt to his latest surroundings, playing a total of just 67 minutes in all competition since joining the team two months ago.

His highest time spent on the pitch is 45 minutes, which came in the cup game against Volendam, aside that he has appeared as a substitute in three league games raking up a total of 21 minutes, which includes last weekend when he was introduced with eight minutes left to play.

Nigerian Super Teen Osimhen Gets New Coach At Wolfsburg

Nigerian highly rated teen forward Victor Osimhen will be under the tutelage of a new coach at German side Wolfsburg following the sacking of Dieter Hecking.

The decision to sack Hecking was reportedly done to stem a poor run of form that has seen them fail to win their last five games in the league.

Wolfsburg are currently placed 14th on the Bundesliga league table with just six points from their first seven games of the season, way below where many people taught they will be before the start of the season.

However Osimhen as he is yet to play a competitive game for the team as he is yet to clock the professional age of 18. But he has already hit the ground running, scoring in a game played for charity purposes.

His coach at the U23s where he has been training will now be in temporary charge of the first team for their game against SV Darmstadt 98, before a decision is made on a new permanent manager of the team.

FIFA Force Porto To Send “Nigerian Robben” Samuel Chukwueze Back To Nigeria
Failed Arsenal target Samuel Chukwueze is back in Nigeria after spending time with Portuguese giants FC Porto, the team he will join when he clocks 18.

Chukwueze one of the stars of the last Nigeria U-17 team to the World Cup in Chile, where they emerged champions trained with the U-18s of the team before returning back to Nigeria.

His return we gathered was due to FIFA regulations on the transfer of minors, which means he can’t be kept by the team for now, as he is yet to be officially registered as their player.

Although a transfer fee has been agreed with his nursery team Diamond Academy for the recently turned 17 year old forward, but payments will be made after the transfer is made official.

However, Owngoalnigeria.com gathered that even when he clocks 18, arrangements are already well underway to loan him to a team in the low division before he makes the step up to the main team.

Nigeria league Player of the Week (37): Obinna Nwobodo

Monday Sep 26, 2016. 15:08

Rangers star midfielder Obinna Nwobodo showed class and guile to inspire his club within 90 minutes of now being crowned Nigeria champions.

Nwobodo fired a wonder strike after 26th minutes, before he assisted in his team’s second goal by Chisom Egbuchulam as Rangers won 2-1 at relegated Ikorodu United on Sunday.

The deceptively slightly built player sighted Ikorodu United goalkeeper off his lines and he chipped the ball over him for a sublime opening goal.

It was a great goal by a highly promising talent who has put behind him a nine-month injury layoff caused by a major knee injury from last year’s U20 AFCON in Senegal to be one of the star performers in an eventful campaign.

Other star performers on Sunday include Nwobodo’s Rangers teammate Chisom Egbuchulam, who also scored in Abeokuta and could have scored a second spectacular goal had Bobby Clement not helped on the effort from an offside position; as well as 3SC defender Samuel Olabisi’s header which beat Wikki and ensured the Ibadan club will stay up again.

Others were David Obiazor (Kano Pillars), Emeka Ogbugh (Heartland) and Isaac Loute (FC IfeanyiUbah).

Ex-Barcelona Nigerian Defender Elohor Dazzles For Watford In Trial Game

Godswill Elohor Ekpolo has done his chances of penning a deal with English side Watford, a whole lot of good judging by his performance in yesterday’s Premier League 2 game.

Elohor started in Watford U23s 2-4 loss to their Hull City counterparts and, the 20 year old put up a performance that will no doubt put him in a strong position to handed a contract.

The former Barcelona youth team captain was released by the Catalans after 11 years with the team, where he progressed through the different youth ranks of the team.

A right full back who loves to go forward and join the attack. He is also very much at home playing upfield on the flanks where he reportedly started his career before being converted to a right full back.

Elohor missed out on been a part of the Nigeria U-23s that won bronze at the Rio 2016 Olympics, no thanks to his late arrival at the camp of the team and his refusal to pay for his flight ticket to their training camp in Atlanta, USA.

Nwankwo Fails To Rescue Crotone From Defeat To Atalanta With First Serie A Goal

Crotone’s summer signing Simmy Nwankwo scored his first goal for the side since his arrival from the Portuguese league in their 1-3 loss to Atalanta in a Serie A game.

The Nigerian has played in two Serie A games prior to today’s clash against Atalanta without finding the back of the net in any of the games.

24 year old Nwankwo was introduced in the 68th minute in place of Lorenzo Crisetig with Crotone trailing Atalanta 0-3. He scored what ended as a consolation for his side with four minutes left to play in the game.

Nwankwo joined Crotone from Gil Vicente in the summer two months after agreeing to join Portimonense from fellow second division side Gil Vicente. A u-turn that left followers of the Portuguese league stunned.

In Portugal, he finished as top scorer in the second division with 20 goals for second division side Gil Vicente, where he spent three seasons, from 2013-2016.

EXCLUSIVE: Spain Bound Zakari Tears Up Sfaxien Contract, Esperance Also In For Him

According to reports exclusively gathered by Owngoalnigeria.com, highly rated Nigeria youth international defender Lukman Zakari has terminated his pre contract with Tunisian side Sfaxien.

Zakari refused to return to the club after his campaign with the Nigeria U-20s during their ill fated attempt to qualify for next year Africa Under-20 championship.

He insisted on the club fulfilling clauses in the pre contract he signed early this year, but the Tunisian side are adamant, that they will only listen to him if he returns back to the them.

Due to the differences, he has instructed his agent to terminate his pre contract agreement and press ahead with other options which include Sfaxien bitter rivals Esperance.

Esperance have long been interested in the teen prospect widely regarded as one of the best upcoming defenders in Nigeria and, they could in the coming days press further to sign him.

The defender who won the U-17 World Cup with Nigeria in 2015 is reportedly closing in on a move to a team in Spain, which wasn’t mentioned by our contacts.

In the past, the soon to be 18 year old, who was twice voted man of the match for the Nigeria U-20 was heavily linked with a move to Celta Vigo, although there’s no confirmation if he is heading to the La-Liga side.
