https://www.thenewhumanitarian.org/analysis/2021/8/12/why-boko-haram-fighters-are-surrenderingAnalysis on current happenings/Jas/BH members surrendering in the NE. . |
They clearly failed to see the disaster at Aso Rock but for their selfish motives, they'll endorse geriatrics they can seemingly control. |
A most terrible crime. Diplomats are covered by diplomatic law and also have immunity. Nigeria should also expel the Indonesian ambassador or diplomats resident in Nigeria. |
You all should know those pandering to the line 'The Security services must not be criticised' are obviously relics from the Military regime ala we must not protest, dissenting opinions are the worst evil. |
Crazy stuff. The deranged DSS doing the devil's work for the tyrant in chief - Buhari. |
SamuelAnyawu:Once was highlighted here that all weapons, ied and materials captured on the Battlefield should be catalogued, swept for fingerprints, DNA and stored on a database. Crossmatches can then be made against external databases not excluding voters ID and NGO amongst other. Who knows how many countless BH fighters absconded to various parts of Nigeria living low key lives. Haven't heard much about the Air force forensic lab since it was inaugurated eons ago. |
bidexiii:Very nice! |
About Abba Kyari; if in a sensitive position where your job requires the utmost integrity, best not be seen cavorting with characters who might have question marks hanging over their heads. Nigerian police should also introduce debriefing to every significant Policing incidents that occurs in the line of duty. In his interactions with certain SM celebrities, they'll have been able to warn him. They probably would have nicked any excesses or wings his fame and accolades were bringing him. By the way, enough of Police & Bigman syndrome where a wealthy associate can have someone picked up in return for a remittance. |
EricBraven:I protested in my own capacity and even though I didn't come across such (I saw instances of people on SM wielding clubs or so) Let it be known, they'd be reported if I were to be in that vicinity. The crux here is how some of you are trying to justify lack of accountability and encourage irrational responses to situations that seems daunting to the security forces. Remove that lack of control and it is a race to the bottom from there on... |
RiceProducers:Lol. Is this an actual suggestion or mistype regarding bandits (essentially a terrorist group)? In other words, state sponsored empowerment to go after others with weapons. When done with EndSARS, you think they won't come for you too? SMDH! Individuals carrying weapon (if any, were hoodlums seeking the guise of protests or such and should rightfully face the full force of the law when caught) |
EricBraven:Horses for courses. |
EricBraven:Away from the cacophony, white noise and exaggeration on SM, facts still point to culpability of the NA led to death of certain individuals at the toll gate. But I guess you choose what to believe. Funny some of you on this thread may even turn out worse than the current tyrant in Aso Rock if you were in power. |
EricBraven:That some people died at Lekki toll gate is Hearsay? Lol. |
One of the finest example of corruption that ever graced a governorship position. How he suddenly amassed large wealth without any measurable businesses still remains an astonishing wonder. |
Good. Now all bandits and Boko Haram are in trouble. |
Kudos to the tyrant, Gen Buhari who has elevated cows to somewhat special mythical status to share limited infrastructures we have in this country with human beings. |
Crazy stuff. Those Tucanos are sorely needed now. |
Succinct. He may have built infrastructures amongst other things unlike his predecessors but still remains that he has introduced a level of toxic nepotism and bare faced tribalism that would take years to correct. Unfortunate that after the disastrous Jonathan regime, we introduced a President far worse, toxic and especially lacking in empathy. Very disappointing and he remains the worst civilian President we've had. |
GabrielYulaw:Transparency, streamlining and pruning of tax racketeering would help with more revenue accruing to the state coffers. Small businesses feel the pinch heavily and pass it on to consumers. Most Nigerian states have effectively shared out tax collection to cronies and its such a terrible mess! On the corporate level(big companies and multinationals), there might be a lot unaccounted though as I don't think FIRS actively scrutinises their books to ascertain they aren't cooking their expenses or shifting funds abroad. Like you said, we need MEGA reforms cos this current system is not fit for purpose. |
Wasn't the other issue that a fake certificate was tendered? Happy for that important clarification diasporans won't need to have NYSC for Ministerial positions. |
Nigerian Government should force betting companies to dedicate a portion of their profits towards betting addiction and rehabilitation. Laws should also be passed to limit impulsive gamblers access to bets and such services. |
AskiaHarem:When you can't handle some intellectual discourse, unable to present facts rather than insults or have no viable retorts, this is the level you descend to. Probably the best your brain can handle. My upbringing won't allow me waste my time. 'Never wallow with a pig in the mud, lest you become dirty and the pig likes it...' |
SamuelAnyawu:Leave the jokers here comparing apples and oranges to justify our below par performance combating terrorism on our own soil. We also have forces born/bred in the NE region at the grassroots (CJTF) with superior knowledge fighting and yet we struggle with intelligence. Examples of similar insecurity issues in-country from the nations highlighted has yet to suffice instead clutching at straws and giving examples of escapades in far flung regions. Shekau's camp was invaded and was pushed to death by is in Sambisa. Buratai previously 'cleared' it (camp Zairo et Al) . He also stated military exercises were to be a regular occurrence there? Moons later, we're still playing 'whack-a-mole' with the bastards. The type of mental gymnastics at play here sometimes is disgusting. |
AskiaHarem:We are talking home turf. How many of these groups are attacking FOB, Police stations and so. Organised crime exists in most countries, some worse than others but we've not heard overrunning outpost or police stations without swift responses. Gangs and so, surely aren't going to be poking a bear in the face cos they know what happens next. Let's not start polishing our failures to deal BH a bloody nose as a phyric victory cos Uncle Sam or others failed to defeat hostile forces in a different country. lebuhsi:Write something better, still a foreign territory. They also failed in Vietnam. Show me a brigade, company sized group effectively a mini state inside the countries controlling swathes of space like the terrorist groups here. |
AskiaHarem:Ah, this same tired analogy all over again. Troops operating in a foreign country with limited knowledge of local norms and customs versus local army fighting in his territory. Didn't Buratai once declare Sambisa was cleared. Tell us how many terrorist groups are operating in those countries controlling large expanse of land, killing and testing army bases every fortnight. Logic escapes some of you here. |
SamuelAnyawu:They should keep the same energy for trouble makers irrespective. DSS is toothless in Borno but we want to see same against bandits, violent herdsmen and their supposed nomadic cousins from outside Nigeria causing resentment. Igboho started out due to the indifference from the government to his kinsmen destruction and carnage. So here we are... Fun fact is I was planning a farm in the countryside only for my aunt to discourage me due to damage from herders. Its all good. Kudos to tyranny. |
Over to DSS, We hope this is not the end of raids for troublemakers. Thank you.
|
Some of you underestimate how fluid alliances could be in the NE/NW. That some groups have already easily switched over from adversaries to allies (study Syria) shouldn't surprise anyone and any denial it could happen are hear-say. Bandits and terrorists groups already have a common enemy in the Nigerian state, fail to isolate the 2 crises and the 2 groups would easily link up. Bandits are essentially out for ransoms and bounties which can be easily provided via salaries or territory control. |
Increase tax for workers... And Alpha-Beta still continues collecting 10% on tax returns right? Tinuke Jagaban and his company still feeding fat on Lagos treasury even in a time of limited resources. |
Meanwhile, there should be an inquest into the billions USD expended on the war against terrorism in the NE, yet no tangible intelligence was able to pinpoint whereabouts and capture of bh leader until he was killed in Sambisa by his rivals. I even supposed he was operating from another country all this while. We were able to capture multiple BH commanders and rescued hundreds of civilians but failed or didn't spot credible info? My opinion is very serious lapses, poor intelligence gathering amongst others. |
Article states 'sanctioned'. Effectively means some of the states may yet be unwilling. Will be interesting to see what happens as FG can not impose their will. |
NafeesaAA:Pot calling kettle black. Your past history of ethnic bashing should have seen you excluded from this thread. Apparently a Police officer too, LOL. |
