Politics / Re: Tinubu Appeals To EndSARS Protesters To Call Off Protests by BlackBaron: 2:57pm On Oct 20, 2020
The current happenings is the legacy of this same Tinubu. under Buba Marwa, thugs/NURTW/area boys were cleared off the road and given jobs in infrastructure projects plus more.

Tinubu came in and effectively reopened pandora's box in order to be have access to cheap foot soldiers during elections while giving them free rein to tax Lagosians once elections were done. Mcoluomo now owns a gigantic hotel from funds extorted from Nigerians.

All thugs disrupting the protests so far have been found to have been paid to disrupt the protests and its quite unfortunate!

Politics / Re: EndSARS: Sowore Deserves Better Than What He Got In Abuja - Opinion by BlackBaron: 11:05am On Oct 16, 2020
Sowore could be a tad over passionate sometimes I think. Noteworthy is the way SR is being run where some news reports has been suspect.

I agree he should not be part of this so as not to politicise the whole movement. If all goes right,
He'll have a chance to showcase later his capabilities to rule or not.

Until then, politicians should support from online.

Nigeria may yet fall foul of Leahy Law if going by current happenings! Lack of trigger discipline amongst armed personnel, unchecked powers and mouth service by heads of some security services.

Nobody says we should not have drones. In fact, we already had drones before the debate here. Both surveillance and armed. It is all about the doctrine of use viz a viz other platforms, and current threats. Just like turkey, other nations use drones for hard to reach or high value targets(HVT). That's the doctrine behind their use. A tank is a HVT,so is a Radar site;but you dont start using drones to fire missiles at rag tag terrorists carrying ak47 running in the bush when it can be more than accomplished with helicopter gunships or rockets. That's like trying to kill a fly with a baseball bat when you have a newspaper.
IF you want them for surveillance ,in the current situation I am all for it. Bring in the drones.
They don't learn that first of all, they've used these against conventional armies. Plus Erdoğan is on some weird Ottoman expansionist flex. Which explains why he's chucking military assets all over corners of the globe trying to gain clout and be assertive on the world stage.

When a counter arrives, their efficiency drops.
On BH, we can use sledge hammer to pepper them but we're still failing to address fundamentals. Holding ground and government policies at the north East.
Turkey hasn't resolved PKK insurgency despite an increasingly powerful army.

A most recalcitrant region, easily has the worst HDI compared to other parts of Nigeria. Yet the common theme seems nothing more than birth several children.

Replicate that with most men but without education and poverty for their wards and the result is Banditry and Boko Haram.

How did we get it so bad! Nigeria is so undeveloped that Politics is the only good paying job in Nigeria. Nollywood actor licks ass of godfather so he can secure a better lifestyle is what this guy shown.

Lagos minor success is not due to godfatherism, rather, its the prime location that and resources that means it would somewhat prosper.

This fool is out here encouraging Feudalism!

Call me the day NA would understand there's such a thing as consultation. Dicon or NA would almost always be restricted to a certain pay structure which might mean they only can recruit from a limited pool of engineers.

Sometimes, you'll have to hire the best whose salary might be a burden but the experience and knowledge transfer you'll achieve means its money well spent.

ARA is far advanced of the two.
They have leveraged on experts from all around the world to produce products that appear very well made thus getting international orders.

Proforce absorbed workers from a defunct Kuwaiti armouring company, put them to work. Hired skilled workers in Autocad and other critical areas, a SA General Manager (no longer there I think) with experience in military vehicles, et al.

Fraud is against the law quite alright, but which multi national in Nigeria has not paid or being extorted before they can start work in Nigeria. Yes, cowboy merchants also slip through the net but this is going to jolt other well meaning investors back. Many MOU's signed by Governments past don't see the light of the day. Pretty sure, a few were down to corruption and pulling out.
Politics / Re: Nigeria Floors P&ID As UK Court Grants Relief From $10bn Fine by BlackBaron: 2:37pm On Sep 04, 2020
Nigeria has got a reprieve on a technicality. However, truth is many multi nationals pay bribe or get extorted to be awarded contracts in Nigeria.
Let both parties settle out of court.

Only issue is other international companies watching this are taking note at the possibility of a lose-lose situation should they invest in Nigeria and run into legal problems down the line.
We might end up losing such potential investments to other countries who might view us as a bigger liability despite our many advantages.

The new Ezugwu looks much better than the very first hideous contraption without windows. Wondered if they were sane releasing it for the public to see. Lol.

Interesting this alliance between Dicon and Innoson. I wish them well.

If Nigeria wants to be serious, I also now want to see an indigenous engine manufacturer. Cummings 6.7l 300hp vs Chinese 615WD must be a significant sum of the total costs towards building these MRAPS.

Probably only the second time I have seen a video of Nigerian howitzers firing, first being on that Vice documentary.

It'll be interesting to see those new SH5 self propelled artillery moving into position and laying down fire while an aircraft provides overwatch.

Only here to hope that the completion of this factory would herald production of steel suitable to construct railway lines.
We need to start weaning ourselves off this reliance on import and influence especially by China with their subtle 'Belt and Road Initiative'.

They even bought the Air tractor configured for combat for insurgency wars
Nigerian army I was referring to.

It's because they want to use to cover their deficiencies. Army hierarchy have chosen a new strategy of 'Whack a mole' against terrorists.

MALE/SIGINT drones are more essential intercepting comms of enemy forces and making something useful out of the info gathered.

He had to be rebuffed on National TV for seeking a 3rd Term.

Enough said

Didn't mean to hurt people's sensitivities. Lots of barefaced nonsense unraveling and nothing happening. Corrupt COAS, NDDC, Kaduna, Zamfara, Borno etc and an almost blind eye from the government. By the way, Obj wasn't accepted by me and my household but we saw some movements on corruption and instances of insecurity. Things under this regime are so brazen and risk slowly descending into anarchy.

NURTW is effectively a 'criminal' enterprise that is patronised by the state government for election purposes. NURTW taxes commercial transporters, down to market women without any accounting shown for the money they collect. Extortion is a crime and punishable by time in prison, but even the lawmakers are equally complacent in using these unemployed youths in times of need.

Idiots complaining about a man building folding bikes, road bikes and so...yet they can't point anyone producing this supposedly simple machine in Nigeria. Let's go to the ports and see how many imports of children and adult bikes come in regularly.
Let's continue spending foreign exchange importing toothpick, pencils and bicycles because they are 'basic' commodities we should have no business producing right?
